Not sure if I posted this here or not; my mind is being fried by the summer
weather<g>

Ben's ep of Queer As Folk will air on Sunday July 31st and Sunday August 7th.
The August 7th ep will conclude the series.

Just in time for Ben's b'day on the 14th ...

I was looking on a livejournal community I frequent
called Scans_daily (because I'm a comic book geek)
when I came across <a
href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/vassilissa/poisonpenguin.jpg">this
link</a>.

Apparently, the Penguin uses curare-laced penguins to
attempt to knock out Batman and Robin.

Suddenly I have the urge for a horrible Batman FK
crossover... with a very necessary drunk!Nick and/or
drunk!Nunkie scene.

Any takers?

Just a friendly reminder that such a cross over couldn't be posted to FKFIC
as per the rules.

I personally think the Joker would very much enjoy a very drunk Nick or
LaCroix... And while they are at it, maybe Harley Quinn could have a fling with
Screed...<wRPg>

I have updated my FK page with a new offer from Dragon's Lair Studios.
Please check it out:
http://www.squidge.org/~nat1228/fk.htm

I am also hoping to have a major revamping (no pun intended <g>) of my FK
Vidcap Archives before the end of the year. I'm planning to have at least
the first two seasons up and on-line sometime this fall; larger, clearer
pictures captured from the DVDs, including "missing" Canadian scenes, guest
vamps, etc. Literally thousands of captures (over 6, 400 for season 2
alone!). Watch for the announcement.

Obviously vampirism didn't change him so much ^_^; . It would be
interesting to know what else he got into while he was still mortal.
Nothing like serial killings or genocide, of course, since people like JtR
and Hitler were too evil for him. Manipulation and insinuating himself into
important circles to gain power and influence would be right up his alley,
though. He likes his chess games with real, live people ^_^ .

Am I right in remembering that he 'removed' the eyes of a sculptor who made a
bust of him, just so he would be the only one with a work that good? When he
was still mortal, of course.

That is correct. He did indeed put the man's eyes out. As he said the
man "wept as he thanked me."

I could very well be wrong, but didn't he do this in a piece of fanfic? I
could have sworn I had read that and not seen it, KWIM?

No, it's in the ep A More permanent Hell, it's not fan fic.

I've always suspected that this was left over from the original draft of the
script, which had LaCroix as a mortal as the Roman Emperor. Presumably someone
checked and discovered that at the time of the erruption, the emperor was either
Vespasian or his son Titus. (I can't remember which because it was in that year
that Vespasian died and Titus succeeded him.) Both ruled strictly according to
law -- and in Roman law, you could _NOT_ do this to a free man. Note that the
script doesn't say that the sculptor was a slave. The writers had probably
thought of Nero, but Nero was a madman whose lawless behavior eventually resulted
in a revolt and his death. The same is true of Caligula.

Whether Nigel took time to look into this I don't know, but he is a unversity
graduate who was a history teacher before he became an actor. I've always thought
the way he said those lines could be taken as sarcastic and therefore untrue.
Certainly Lucius appears to be drunk enough to think something like that was
funny.

I don't know much about the roman history but I've always thought it the same
way you do.

Subject: Musing on carouches and human blood

I re-watched "My Boyfriend is a Vampire" recently and
I've been mulling over some of Screed's comments in
the flashbacks, specifically after he and Vachon and
Bourbon had finished feeding off the "wenches". He
says:

Screed: Oh, now that was a right scrapple for that
little bit of apple.

I took that to mean that he enjoyed the human blood.
Now, we know that carouches in general drink animal
blood, but I wonder if they enjoy human better? It is
no mystery that even Nick doesn't *enjoy* bovine blood
(let alone LaCroix or Janette.) Any thoughts?

Screed says in Fever that it is rat blood he craves ... and I take that as
crave for food. I suspect there's a bit more involved when he comments on his
lady "friends." My take is that taking blood from a human would be a bit more
on the sexual than the food side.
