"Around the Roman Table" by Patrick Faas

A blend of cookery book and social history, "Around
the Roman Table" is a superb guide to classical
foodways, covering meat, fowl, and fish; cereals,
vegetables, and fruit; wine and winemaking; table
manners and etiquette; even the truth -- it's not what
you think -- about the Roman orgy. The adventurous can
pick from more than 150 recipes from gustatio
(appetizers) to caput cenae (main course) to mensa
secunda (dessert). Includes numerous citations (in
Latin and English) from classical authors, plus plenty
of black & white illustrations. Measurements are
metric.

Actually, Nick and Nat have an exchange in "False Witness," that is just
the opposite, in the famous "popcorn scene."
Nick apologizes for being insensitive to the poignancy of "King Kong" and
adds:
"I realize that humanity isn't always perfect, Nat. Watching Kozak drag his
mistress down wasn't all that pretty..."
"They both going to jail?"
"Hmm-hmm. The one who did it, and the one who made him do it."
