Subject: Tanya Huff's book taking on FK
I picked up a copy of "Smoke and Shadows" and was
laughing so hard the first chapter I was crying. Here
is a quick synopsis on Amazon:
"Tony Foster from the 'Blood' series is living in
Vancouver and working as a Production Assistant on a
TV show about a vampire detective."
One of the reviewers wrote:
"The most amusing part of the book centers around
Huff's knowing send-up of the Canadian television
industry. "Darkest Night" is obviously a spoof on the
campy vampire police detective drama "Forever
Knight"..."
I intend to be amused by this book rather than
insulted or outraged at the parody on FK. If anyone
wants a recommendation about the book, let me know off
line. I should be done with it in a few days. I have
read the rest of the series and like the universe it
is set in.

Why would anyone be "insulted" at the parody? I've read this book and there's
no reason to be (the book, by the way, is great). I'm the author of a
professionally published FK parody myself, and chose to pitch the idea because
of my
love for the series. It is always fun for me to find these parodies/tributes
to FK in a novel.
