Is it phonetic? If so, "twa" could be "toi" (you, your) or "trois" (three). And
"bon ton roule" sounds like "bon temps roule" to me too--"good times roll". "Le
Bon Temps Roule" is the name of a Louisiana yacht
(http://www.lebontempsroule.org/) and a New Orleans restaurant
(http://le-bon-temps-roule.neworleansfanatic.com/)

So, it could be "Maria, Maria...and your good times roll!"

Your humble & obedient servant,
Angela Gottfred

Subject: Show about Rome

Tonight on Discovery Science channel they are having a marathon of
'Metropolis' - 4 shows about various ancient cities. They use
archeology and computer graphics to show what the cities would have
looked like. Right now "Athens" is on.

Rome is on at 9.00pm EST
Alexandria is on at 10.00pm EST
Carthage is on at 11.00pm EST

I'm sure everyone has had them. I have to wonder though, what would it take
for some of the characters to say "This day couldn't get worse if someone
SHOT (staked) ME!" Not the sad kind of bad day, the frustrating one.

Okay, I was browsing by Amazon just now and thought I'd check how the
DVDs were doing saleswise and what people wrote about them.
And one person (I don't know if she is one this list or not) wrote AGAIN
that she was annoyed that Sony didn't put the uncut European version on
the DVDs.
To set the record straight:
There is NO uncut European version. It simply does NOT exist. The
version shown here in Germany (and remember that FK's first two seasons
were German co-productions, so we did get the original "uncut"
episodes) is exactly like the Canadian version. There is no extra nudity
or steamy neck-biting - sorry!
There were plans to do this and maybe some of the scenes were shot, but
they ended up on the cutting room floor for good. None of it made it to
the finished product.
Please, we might be able to blame TPTB for a lot of things but not for
not giving us something that only exists in the realm of imagination.

Here's what happened, according to various sources at the time, including what
I remember Nigel Bennett's saying at a con.

The German versions had indeed been intended to have nudity and more explicit
violence. Mostly this would have been in the teasers (the opening scene that
runs before the credits). It turned out that the violence and nudity all seemed
to involve attacks on women. The cast objected to this as exploitative and sexist.
Then they found that shooting extra scenes for the German version took more
time than they could justify economically, so the idea was abandoned.

I think the confusion Doris told us about -- which is new to me, thanks, Doris!
-- is based on the fact that the first season CBS Crimetime after Primetime
versions shown in the U.S. were pretty badly hacked up to allow extra commercial
time. This led to things like our not knowing that Nick had been unable to
hypnotize Natalie in the flashbacks of Only the Lonely. We found out when Canadian
Forkni-lers began mentioning scenes that we hadn't scene here. Fortunately the
second two seasons, which were syndicated, were the same length wherever they
ran. Then when the SCI-Fi Channel started rerunning FK, they made their own
cuts, which led to yet another version.

Now, Nigel's story: Remember that flashback in Dark Knight where we see Nick
take his first victim? Ok, they shot that for the US/Canadian versions, with the
girl wrapped up in a cloak. Then the director said, "Cut. Ok, now we'll do the
German version." Nigel claimed he thought to himself, "we're going to do it
again in German?" But what happened was that he was told to pick up the girl
and carry her in again. There's no way to show you the expression he used when
reporting his reaction, but it was hilarious. He reached up for the cloak, and
discovered that she was topless under it. The cloak was fixed so it didn't cover
her. He carried her in, placed her on the table. No dialogue because the German
actors would dub it. Ger lunged forward to do the bite, and froze. (Nigel did a
wonderful imitation of a shocked and stunned Ger.) Ger whispered frantically,
"where do I bite? where do I bite?"

Nigel added, "poor Deborah was deeply embarrassed." He said the girl wasn't,
since her regular job was modelling without clothes for art classes.

Yes, this is what I had heard/ read before too. And, man, am I glad
they didn't go through with this. While we are a little more open here
regarding nudity on TV, this just sounds tacky. I like FK because it did
not go down the easy road of cheap sex and violence, as so many vampire
shows/movies do.
And if you insist on checking the scene McLisa mentioned (Dark Knight):
I have a clip of the "German" version (because they do speak French -
lol) on my website:

It's still fun to watch. What made it to air was a combo of both the
European and American versions. Watch the victim and her neckline keeps
appearing and disappearing, appearing and disappearing.....

I was watching WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY
(it's a improv show)

The line they were doing "Things you never thought you'd hear"

So what the joke was

"It started out like any other autopsey . . . "

I suddenly thought of Nat saying that

"It started out like any other autopsey . . . until he woke up.
He said his name was Nick . . . "
