Subject: Great alumni find

I was at my local Walmart the other day and they had this display
with 'not so famous' Universal movies. Most looked like they were
made for tv and they were only in cardboard envelopes for packages.
Since they were only $3, I looked though them.
I found...
Dancing in the Dark (with GWD as 'Dr Lambert')
in the credits on the package he is listed as 'special appearance
by'

Yes, he isn't in the movie too much, but it was only $3!

Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's paradise on Earth.

Actually, does anyone know the real title of this piece? I know it's a
trdaitional and not something especially written for the show.

I'd also like to know if anyone knows why they picked
this song?

The air is that of a song I learned as a child but the
lyrics are 'as Gaeilge'.

I know the piece as "ó ró mo mhaithín" but I'm not
sure if that is the title of it... I learned it when I
was 6

Subject: info on Lynn Ackerman, posted with McLisa's permission

Lynn Ackerman has been hospitalized since 12/12/04, initially with
pneumonia, then in a coma, but now she's slowly improviing.

Here's the latest update I've gotten from a friend of hers, and which
McLisa said I could post here. (Sorry for funky line breaks.)

Some good news! Lynne's health has improved enough that she's
been transferred out of ICU and into the hospital's internal
medicine area. She's now receiving physical therapy, and getting
stronger every day.

A few of us (myself included) have been able to talk to her on
the phone within the last week. She definitely needs some
cheering up as her emotional well-being is of great concern.
She's feeling frightened about her health outlook, and is still
in discomfort and pain. She continues to be on medication as part
of her recovery.

Here's the latest news from Lynne's sister:

Lynne is still very shaken by what has happened. However,
she continues to improve, albeit slowly, and when you
consider her condition a few weeks ago and compare it with
now, it is easy to see how much progress she has made. We
are very optimistic about her prognosis.

I think Lynne is still a bit overwhelmed by the road to
recovery that lies ahead, but hearing from her friends has a
really positive effect on her. She's really lucky to have
so many people in her corner cheering her on.

All of the people who've contacted me after having spoken with
Lynne have commented that she does still have her sense of humor,
and is very glad to hear the voices of her friends (she gets
emotional at that part in the conversation).

Also, the general consensus of those of us who have spoken to her
is that Lynne is feeling isolated because she no longer has
access to email in order to stay in touch with her many friends.
Human contact (phone, visits) would help her a great deal right
now. Of course cards and letters are also very welcome.

If you know Lynne personally and would like to talk to her on the
phone, please let me know so I can request permission from her
sister. There are certain times that are best to reach Lynne (for
example, it's hard for Lynne to hold the phone for long periods
so it's best to call when one of her sisters is there to help).

Better yet, if you live in the Toronto area, please consider
visiting her -- she'd love to have you stop by!

Send cards and correspondence to Lynne's home
address as Lynne's friend Sheldon picks up her mail nearly every
day.

The address is:

Lynne Ackerman
xx xxxxxxxxxxxxx, xxx. xxx
Toronto, Ontario
CANADA
xxx xxx

I think there is a better chance that mail will not go
astray if it is sent to her home address, her previous
problems with Canada Post notwithstanding. [Lynne's friend]
Sheldon picks up her mail almost every day and gives it to
my sister at the hospital, so Lynne is getting the cards in
a timely manner. Hearing from her friends brings a real
smile to Lynne's face so we are very happy to convey
people's good wishes.

It was great to hear Lynne's voice again when I talked to her
last week (my first time since she was admitted to the hospital).
It seems to me like she is doing better than she realizes. We can
encourage her to hang in there and continue our "get well"
wishes.

Many thanks to those of you who have spoken to Lynne or dropped
by to see her recently, and have also let me know of your contact
so I can share it with others.

Sorry if some of you are receiving this message more than once.

Kind regards,
Todd Andrews
Portland, OR
