Nah, he just listened to a latenight radio show, thought "I can do so much
better than that uneducated boor", and the rest is talk show history. I see him
as a sort of anti-Gzowski.

(Sorry, Canadian reference; the late Peter Gzowski was respected for the way he
could make guests on his long-lived CBC Radio mid-morning show feel completely
at home, and his amazing rapport with listeners. Whereas LC prefers to mow them
down mercilessly.)

Just as with mortals, I think it depends largely on the personality of the
vampire. I'm sure there are vampire supergeeks out there in some dark, quiet
corner of the FKverse who are using their eternity of perfect health to
spend *that* much more time chatting and writing fanfic. ;)

Nick is fascinated by humanity and human innovations, and not just when it
comes to his search for a cure. I see Nick as a guy who gets excited about
playing with new technology. Just look at that setup he had going in the
loft: big TV, stereo, remote-controlled shutters, and so on. Didn't matter
that it would probably all be obsolete in a few years; he wanted to play
with it right away. He was also on the maiden voyage of the Titanic--a
technological marvel of its day. I can definitely see him with a BlackBerry,
although I'm sure he still wouldn't bother answering the phone if he was
disinclined to do so. ;)

Janette and LaCroix, I see as being somewhat more pragmatic. They would use
technology as it suits them, depending on their interests, and they can both
afford the finest in everything--cars, timepieces, etc.

Like Aristotle?

I can imagine him secretly writing a Star Trek fanfic, or a treatise
on exactly *why* Unix is better than Windows, and why vamps should
whammy humans into adopting it. ;)

I think he bought CERK so he could do his little broadcasts. He's the
kind of guy who would probably enjoy not only playing with Nick's
minds, but also those of all the mortals who called in. He would know
that the more marginal members of society would tune in for his brand
of audio psycho-torture.

I can just see someone someone who truly knows LaCroix asking why a radio
show... He'd raise an eyebrow, give a little grin, "It is ... a hobby" then
raise his glass of blood and take a satisfying sip.

Hmm, I don't think so. He's a man ruthlessly in charge of his own
unlife---he wouldn't depend on someone else to manage his electronics.
And after all, he runs a sound board quite competently in his
broadcast booth.

I think he'd learn every he needed to in order to be able to do what
he wanted, computer-wise, like keep his books, trade stocks online,
etc. We already know he likes to play on message boards.

You wouldn't see him playing games, though---wsate of time. He plays
HIS games in the real world!

I feel LaCroix knows more than he let's on. He appears to be very
gifted in knowledge, I feel he would do very well with today's
technology.

That is too cool, Lyn. Nope, somehow explaining it wouldn't explain it.

Speaking of our Vamps early impression of automobiles, I remember someone
writing a very engaging scene with Nick driving LC and Janette around in his new
car, and I think getting fed up by their comments -- Nancy K, wasn't this one of
yours or at least a scene from one of your stories? If so, which one?

If not one of Nancy's, does anyone recognize this story from my vague
reference?

Nope, not mine, but I bet it's one of my all-time favorite stories,
"LaCroix Takes the Wheel", by Diane Trap, which is about Nick trying
to teach LaCroix how to drive his 1930s-era roadster. Lacroix proves
to not be very adept with a clutch. <g>

It's on fkfanfic.com.

I think you got him confused with Larry Merlin. Aristotle's the

I have always imagined that Aristotle, Merlin and
Felix were friends. Their specialties seem to
complement each other. Relocation, Records History,
and Money guy.

Can't you just picture them in a chat room somewhere
arguing over who is the nerdiest?

Curious: did anyone compile the limericks people wrote
a while back? I thought someone said they were
meaning to. If so, I'd love to see them. And while
we're at it, what if we made forays into further
literary territory and tackle other poetic forms? I'm
fond of haiku, and my figurative virtual hat off to
anyone who writes an FK related sonnet!
