<<Question: Does anyone know who in the FK fandom wrote the first FK fan
fiction, and what date?>>

I don't know who wrote the 1st FK fanfic, however, one of the first
earliest writers was Susan Garrett.

Deb, the archives for the FK list only go back to
2000. In a Google search I found the following
information on the history of Fan Fiction
(Specifically FK:)

Sep 1992 ForKni-L mailing list is created by Jean
Prior and Laurie Salopek for the posting of fanfiction
relationg to Forever Knight.

From the fkfanfic.com FAQ:

What are FORKNI-L & FKFIC-L?
Electronic mailing lists for discussion of
Forever Knight, and fan-written Forever Knight
fiction. FORKNI-L was started on December 9, 1992 by
Jean Prior, to whom we are all eternally grateful.
FKFIC-L was started on May 12, 1993 after numerous
complaints about the number and size of stories being
posted to FORKNI-L. Specific rules about what sorts
of things may be posted to each list are in section
II.B. below.

http://www.fkfanfic.com/fkmisc/fk.faq

There is also some informaition on that site about
getting archived information.

I'm guessing Don or McLisa might be able to point you
to the full archives for the FKFic if they exist. You
might also email Stephanie (keeper of the FTP site) to
see if she has a record of the earliest story).

Hope that helps; if nothing else it gives you the
dates and creators of the original FK mailing lists,
which seem to be coming up on 13 years if I don't miss
my guess ;) Don't forget that the May 2004 copy of TV
Guide listed Forever Knight as one of the top 25 Cult
TV Shows of all time (number 23/25.) I have a copy of
the issue if you want it, email me off list.

Not only are you in LA under Prince LaCroix, but you
also meet a prostitute named Jeanette. I havn't found
any knights named Nicolas, though. If anyone else
finds one, let me know.

Anyone seen the ads on any of the Discovery channels
yet about the upcoming special on Pompeii? I just
happened to see one tonight.

It's supposed to air Jan.30th but I forgot what time.
Probably 7 or 8(8 or 9 Eastern) but don't quote me.

There's a website http://thelastdayiscoming.com

with flash videos and stuff about the volcano and a
quiz "would you survive" I got 11 out of 18 but still
got the 'made it to safety' category.

I wonder if there's a fic there somewhere...can't you
see Nick and LC watching the special together? lol.

Mel, who still wonders what sort of damage the
pyroclastic flow would've done to LC and Divia,
despite being vamps. That stuff's pretty hot. They
must've gotten out of the city either before or
between the flows.

The earliest story I could find for the FTP archives is "Coming Across"
by McLisa posted in May of 1993. Given that point of reference, maybe
she can remember something earlier. Lisa?

Just doing a quick scan, I couldn't find anything earlier posted earlier
than 1993 on FKFANFIC.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a FORKNI-L or UF

I feel terrible but I can't remember her name.

Subject: Re: First FK Fanfic (was need help)

1993 was certainly my first fanfic post to Fkfic-l. I wasn't the first poster,
though. I think that was Karin Welss. Anyway, what happened was that some time
in late 1992 or early 1993, people began posting FK fanfic to Forkni-l. This
caused some concern, since not everybody wanted to read fanfic and of course it
put the volume up. At the time we had a problem with volume. The list used to
get held regularly, meaning we had exceeded our disc quota on the PSU site and
the sysops had to manually unjam it. Hence the strict quote rule and the rule
against answering just one person on the list instead of to the original poster.

Anyway, Jean created Fkfic-l so there would be a place for FK fanfic other than
Forkni-l. We've been in there ever since. Some of the early fic is missing
because it was only on the ftp site run by a member who is no longer with us.
Karin and her writing partner Marion Gibbons later went professional, and hoped to
use their FK fanfic as a basis for future work, so it was withdrawn. Other
writers may also have done that. Never having administered one of the fic archives,
I'm not sure.

IMHO, I think it'd be impossible to pin-point the first FK fanfic. It was
probably written while 'Nick Knight' was still airing on television, or if you
go with just the tv show, probably five minutes after the first episode aired on
CBS. Back then, there were more paper fanzines/fanfics than Internet
versions.
