I'm working on a Christmas story, and I need ideas for things that Nat would
buy Nick for Christmas. Any and all ideas welcome!

Since Catherine Disher has been nominated for a Gemini award, I'm
sure I speak for many U.S. fans in saying we'd love to see the show.
When is it scheduled to air? And would any kind Canadian member(s) be
willing to tape the show for a tape tree?

Hmmm... socks? Fuzzy slippers?

How about a first aid course, so he has less guilt and angst to deal with,
because he'll actually know what to do when he's next to somebody who's been
shot/stabbed/etc. instead of standing around feeling bad. (Thinking of, oh,
Capital Offense, The Code, Undue Process...)

A self-help book on behaviour modification and cognitive therapy?

Some techno-toy, like a Sony MiniDisc (MD) player (no pun intended), or a video
game console (can't you just picture Nick playing Playstation all day?).

It will be broadcast live on CBC TV on Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. EST. I'll try to tape
it, but right now I am getting zero "real" TV (we haven't figured out how to
properly hook the new TV up to the satellite receiver yet--hey, it's only been
two weeks).

Here's a nice picture from Snakes and Ladders, from the Gemini Awards website:
http://www.geminiawards.ca/gemini19/press/photos/DSnakesandLadders.jpg

And, BTW, here are all the FK-related Gemini nominations and awards
http://www.academy.ca/hist/history.cfm?stitle=forever+knight&awyear=0&winonly=0&
awards=0&rtype=2&curstep=4&submit.x=60&submit.y=6

(Note that 7th, 8th, etc. refer to the year of the Gemini awards show, not FK's
placement in the final voting!)

Are you looking for a fun present or a serious present?

For a serious present I would think something old, maybe from someplace he
had been that he had told her about... Perhaps something she happened
across in an antique store of something, maybe something he ahd specifically
mentioned that he had thought gone, or was just like something he had
before.

Fuzzy cow slippers! Or maybe one of those cow build-a-bears (do they
still have those?), and put a cop's uniform on it?

The cow's retired now but you can still find them on Ebay and there are tons of
cute bears.

It seems that the identify of the War Master/Mistress/Maestro is
traditionally kept a secret, so I will retain my cloak of anonymity and
retire this identity to the Fortress of Solitude from whence it came.

I thank everyone who has written such kind words about how the war
went. Its success was primarily due to your efforts, not mine. I just
tried to keep the deck chairs in line while the ocean liner that is FK
War cruised majestically onward.

Thanks to all the writers who participated---I plan on going back and
actually reading each and every story of the war, now that I have the
time to do so. At this late stage in our fandom's life, I was honestly
worried that there wouldn't be enough participants to make a war
happen, but that was not the case. You all came out of the woodwork and
participated wonderfully!

And now that you've appeared, please don't disappear again! The regular
fiction list always needs quality writing to keep it alive and inspire
new writers. I hope you turn your energies into writing a story now and
again and posting it to FKFIC-L.

Thank you, one and all. It's been a wonderful experience.

I want to pass along sincere condolences to Mary Combs on the recent loss
of her father. If anyone's spent any time with Mary, they've most likely
seen her light up when speaking of her father ("daddy"). The Combs family
is very close, and I'm certain they're feeling this loss especially as it
comes as the family had planned to gather to celebrate the holidays.

If you wish to contact Mary, please do so offlist, mcombs@e........
She's currently spending time with her family and will have sporadic
computer access.

best to all,

I for one hope this is true. But then again, isn't chocolate a cure for
everything? But in all seriousness, they are finding out that chocolate has
more and more benefits. I certainly don't mind.
