There's a fairly large interview with Catherine Disher in today's Toronto
Star <thestar.com>. It does mention her work on FK, but is mostly written
because of her Gemini nomination for Snakes & Ladders. It's a *very*
flattering article <g>.

I saw this article in the Star & Tribune the other day about an 1858
treaty between the U.S. and the Sioux. It's being displayed at the
Minnesota Historical Society. That was the treaty where the Native
Americans gave up S.D. for a reservation. Interestingly, the land was
considered part of MN at the time. The treaty was owned by a Canadian
collector. I thought it fit in nicely with the current war premise.

In 1996, Lynn Messing issued an Amnesia Challenge (

Nancy Kaminski answered it with "Deja Vu" (

Are there any other fics that answer this
challenge?

I am sorry. This was posted incorrectly to the fiction list with the Re:

the rest of the list. May I post it correctly?

As far as I know, the only other person who attempted answering this
challenge was Amber Murray, who started posting a story but never
finished it.

You might want to wait until the War is over tomorrow and give the writers a
bit to recover<wRPg>

I learned more about her in this one article, than I have in all of the stuff
I've read about her in the last eight years put together! Wow!
Anyone get if it meant that the character of Audrey was 43, or if they were
actually talking about Catherine? That part confused me.
Thanks for the link~ I really enjoyed the article!

The challenge was brought up again... last year, I think. I wrote a fic for
it, but didn't get it done by deadline, so I posted it to the list. If you're
interested, it's simply entitled 'Lost', and I think it can be found on the FTP
site. If not, I have a copy on my hard drive.

Last night I realized it might be very difficult to wind everything up
by midnight tonight (Sunday), what with the bar fight, the Knightie's
Raven party, and various "leaving Toronto" posts.

Therefore, I am extending the War one day. Please use Monday to wind
everything up if you need it.

Subject: War: URGENT! War is not extened, ends today, Sunday

I'm sorry, but due to a communications mishap, the WM's extension of the war
went out too soon. Wars are never extended because we have subscribers on both
lists who are waiting to come back from nomail so they can get the digest again.
(All digests contain all posts. There is no way to reset this, at least on
PSU.) They were told the war would end on the 22nd, so it must end on the 22nd.

For any inconvenience, I'm truly sorry. This question of an extension has come
up offstage in other wars and has been denied for the reason I just cited.

Note: Please don't worry if you don't get this in time to avoid sending a war:
post after midnight, Eastern Standard Time tonight, Sunday the 22nd. Nobody is
going to get into trouble for this, since there's no way to give everyone the
word simultaneously.

Again, I'm sorry for any inconvenience or embarrassment.

This time I can't blame it on lack of caffeine. When I said the war would end
on the 22nd as originally scheduled, I said Sunday the 22nd. That should have
been midnight, Eastern Standard Time, at the end of _Monday_ the 22nd. I do
apologize for the confusion. Just change everything I said about Sunday to
Monday. I'll go take fifty lashes with a rolled up calendar now.

Again, sorry.

Note: it's not that I'm such a Nice Nellie as to object to the word h*ll; it's
just that some filters won't let it through with the full spelling.

I've just been reminded that originally the war was supposed to end today. I
was under the impression that it was up through the 22nd, which would be Monday.
So now that I've shaken everybody up, including myself, yes, I guess I have to
give an extension through the 22nd. Go ahead and drop your war: posts through
Midnight e.s.t. on Monday the 22nd.

WM and everyone, I'm very sorry for the confusion. I realize nobody's ever
going to believe I haven't been drinking anything stronger than bottled water.
<shaking head>

I'll go log off now until whatever whammie this is wears off.

I took it to mean that they were talking about the character of Audrey, not
Catherine herself. I'm sure one of the Natpackers can confirm Catherine's
actual age.

This is going out without the war:header because I need to be sure anyone who's
waiting to go back to digest from regular mail knows. Owing to a confusion of
dates on my part (no, not alcohol or lack of caffeine, just confusion) I told
both lists the war was ending at midnight on Monday. So to avoid the further
confusion of trying to retract that, it really is going to end at midnighton
Monday, Nov. 22nd. I'm sorry if this causes anyone inconvenience.

Help. I am SO confused. I know it is the fried brain syndrome affecting
everyone at this point in the war. But please, please try again to
explain to us. In. Simple. Words. Exactly when the war does end.

It was to be midnight Sunday going into Monday, then the WM said
it was midnight Monday going into Tuesday. Great.

Then Mclisa said no. ... Ok. Great McLisa has much power, so OK we
will write furiously now. As if we weren't already.

Ok, now McLisa says another day/time combination.

Please, please explain it to me, as a favor, as midnight some
day going into whatever is the following day.... so I can
really understand.

I'm pretty sure it's referring to Cath as being 43; all the parentheticals
within quotes are the author's inserted comments about Cath--like the one
identifying her son as the child of Cath's "ex, Cedric Smith", though I'm not
sure they were ever actually married.
And 43 would be about right; her being born 1960/1961 would fit right in--and
put her right at about Natalie's age, since Nat turned 30 in June 1992/1993
(depending on whether you assume OtL to take place in the year it was filmed or
aired).
What a DELIGHTFUL article. Thanks SO much for posting it--it's more than I'd
ever known about Cath too, and a delight to see anything about her, and
particularly something this fun and informative.
