Subject: Episode Four linked in

The url is: http://ca.geocities.com/gwatson2@rogers.com/index.html. If
you like Screed (and I get the impression there are a few fans of his
out there), he has a major role in the historical scenes in this story.
For those who haven't been following Season IV, the episodes are
downloaded as zip files. Both Word and WordPerfect versions are
included. If you can't unzip files, e-mail me off list and I'll send
the unzipped file to you as an attachment.
Don't forget to read the Notes pages! But -- spoiler warning -- do
it *after* reading the episode.

Putting this on list has been cleared with McLisa.

To those in the FK community with an interest in the *study* of fandom,
there is a call for papers out for an essay collection on fandom. For
full details, check http://www.iafa.org/. Check the Newsletter: it's
fairly well down the page, so keep scrolling.

    Deadline: April 1, 2005.

-----
This is the general statement of what they're looking for:

"We are looking for academic essays geared toward a general readership
and particularly welcome personal reflections of readers, writers, and
fans. This collection strives to be interdisciplinary, and we especially
welcome historical, sociological, and anthropological approaches, as
well as English and media studies. Essays may focus on particular
fandoms and source texts but should ultimately move beyond the specifics
to address larger concerns and experiences relevant to fandom and fan
fiction at large. Papers will fit into one of four broad sections:
history and terminology; text, writer, reader; forms and genres; and
community.
The volume will be geared to academics and students interested in
jargon-free, theory-based analyses of media and audience, including,
among others, students in English, media studies, and sociology.
Personal scholarly essays as well as more traditional academic essays
are encouraged.
History and Terminology: ".... Analysis of specific fandoms as well
as more general overviews are welcome."
Text/Writer/Reader: "... questions of canon, fanon and
characterization, and issues of author insertion and identification..."
Community: "New analyses of the fan fiction community... the
interaction among writer/beta/audience, fan fiction as gift, strategies
to meld the fan fiction community (cons, fic archives), and inculcation
of new fans into the fan fiction community... Other possible topics
include the identity politics of fandom and the emotional investment of
fans into fandom, the texts, and each other."

-----
Note the bit under "Community".  So many *other* fandoms get written up;
but FK fandom isn't that well documented -- and the factions and wars
certainly aren't found elsewhere. And they certainly qualify as
"strategies to meld the fan fiction community" and "inculcation of new
fans"! Anyone out there fancy getting a publication on their
vita/resume, and simultaneously spread the good word about FK?

I was perusing the IMDB and each day they have a trivia question and
todays was (paraphrased - can't remember the exact wording)
"This scifi thriller was filmed entirely on a 14 x 14 set"

The answer was Cube.

Well, I thought it was kind of cool. And yes, it is FK related
Nicole DeBoer (from DK) was in it as well as the guy who played
Frank/Francesca.

And since Ger was in a Cube sequel you could argue the case that way

Oh, no, you know, didn't you?

I was just wondering if the Natpack had put out a Call To Arms.

Did I just miss it or are they MIA still?

Why do I think that the FK fandom is worth writing about, in a serious
(well, you know what I mean) way, and that a collaborative effort
would be the way to do it? I'm just a (very tough) editor, and I could
be the "show runner," if anybody wanted to participate in this, and if
Gladys would allow it onto her page.

Best wishes,

If we have any listmembers in Quebec who know power company employees who
came to Pensacola, FL after Hurricane Ivan, please give them a hug for me!
A power crew from Quebec came down to assist our power company, and they
were the ones to turn on the power in my neighborhood. After a week without
power, they were a Godsend, and I'd like to pass along to them that on their
Thanksgiving Day, there are some folks on the Gulf Coast who are mighty
thankful for THEM.

Subject: Question for fic

Just a quick question -
I am at the early stages of writing a story... (getting the facts and
storyline straight)
Without giving too much info, I have a part in which there is a
gathering of close friends (post third season as in the series)
I am not really including co-workers, this is a VERY intimate close
gathering...

So far I have
Myra & Jenny Schanke
Richard's family (can't think of names right now)

Anyone else? Not sure they really had a lot of close friends?
If that's all, fine with me... I just didn't want to be missing
anyone.
-Amanda

Hisselfishness himself asked that we thank everyone for all the support and
goodies given him as he continues to recover from his surgery. He says he's doing
quite well.

Here's his exact thank-ye-kindlies:

"Thank everyone.

Teddybear! Puzzlebooks! Comix! Blackmail videos! Edible insect! Squeaky
rat! Flashy Raver-kid Thingy! Goober Eyeballs! Sheesh, it's like Xmas
here."

Hmmm... I'm really surprised the toffee with the edible insects in it made it
through customs <g>

And I'm sure I speak for Bonnie too when I thank everyone, too. Halloween is
coming up, Greg's fav holiday, and we are always happy to forward on small gifts
and cards and the like. You can also leave messages and greetings on the
message board at:

www.screedwashere.com

You just never know who will be lurking there.

Sarah (wife) and Amy (daughter)

Why not Reese? I though he was pretty close to them (as close as anyone got,
I suppose)
Nat said there weren't many people in her life besides Nick.

Are you restricting this to mortals only?
I think Richard's family are Sarah and Amy.

We would gladly host a homepage like that on our
server, and the URL foreverknight.info would fit just
right.
