Subject: PLEASE READ: FANZINE--Season of Change by Deborah A. Hymon

To the list members: I'm sorry to post this here, but I really need to
reach the fans who pre-ordered. Posting on lists is my last resort to
resolve my problem.

***If you requested a copy of this fanzine, please read the following. Iım
posting this because I have no way of knowing who is who, and this letter
will explain. To all the FK fans who ordered and received the book, and sent
positive emails--THANK YOU! (((HUGS)))

I still have 17 copies that have not been paid for. If you donıt pay for
these, I have to pay the publishing cost. I took on this project because the
FK fans requested it. For the most part, itıs been an interesting and fun
project. But I donıt want to pay for books. Iıve already had other request
for future projects, but non-payment makes me reluctant to do something like
this again. Iım not making a profit on this fanzine, every penny goes to
the publisher and shipping costs. The reason I took pre-orders was because
I needed to know how many to publish, and was trying to keep the cost down;
the more published the cheaper the cost. By ordering 125 books, the cost
dropped $5 U.S.

Hereıs my problem. I canıt send out individual emails because thereıs some
confusion of who is who. Some of the pre-orders were placed by internet user
names, such as Forever Knights Lady (thatıs me), and when the payment
arrived, the name on the form was Deborah A. Hymon. As you can see there
is no way to know who Forever Knights Lady is without you telling me. My
mistake was not having the email addresses put on the order form, but this
is all new to me; live and learn.

So, for those of you who have not paid, please do so as you promised.

Thank you,
Deborah A. Hymon

Hi Laurie, Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I can do the shirt
for you. Anyway you want it. I can get it to fit with no problem. Also let
me know what kind of font you want, and color, size of shirt. I can do it in
the FK font if you'd like.

It would run you 21.99 for sizes up to Xlarge. Large sizes add three dollars
per size up to 4Xl. They cost me more for the blanks the larger they are.
I count 91 letters approx. That would run to much for .50 a letter. Too
much money. So I'll keep it flat rate since your a list member.

So let me know what you want on the front and on the back. Color of shirt
and size, color of font. Your address so I can calcuate the priority mail
costs. I prefer paypal but if that's a problem let me know and I'll accept a
money order or even a personal check from list members.

Hope this all meets with you approval.

I hope to my have web site up and running in full soon. Right now I only
have some of my FK shirts on it. It's ForeverKnight.us or ForeverKnight.cc

Thanks again and my best in the Knight,

Hi there,

sorry I did pre order but I had to run down to my house in Fla and check
things because of the two storms. Please let me know how much and where to send
a money order and I'll get it right out to you this week.
Again sorry for the delay but I had little else on my mind.

Subject: FK in a different media?

This is my first discussiontype post since I came back, but I was
thinking about it and wondering. Other than the "exactly as it was"
type, in what medium would you like to see Forever Knight continued
officially? TV movies? A series of books? A cartoon? Same plot,
different actors? (okay, I'd weep on that one) A series of graphic
novels/comic form?

Personally, my vote would go for graphic novels/comics. That way, one
would get to keep some of the visual aspects of the show, they would
almost never have to worry about budget, the vampires would be as
immortal and unchanging as their drawings, and they would be
moderately cheap to buy. Further, comics are pretty fair ground for
just about anything I can think the FKverse could throw at a reader.
And there could be editorials from the actors, etc, and fun stuff like
that.

I don't know...it was just a thought.

Danii

PS, if someone made a small fan-goof comic, where would they want to
post that sort of thing, if I may ask?

I would love to see at least one TV movie. Working the aging process into
the plot could actually be interesting. But I don't see any chances of that
ever happening. So my second favorite medium would be books - and I mean
professionally made novels. Comic/graphic novel has something going for it
too but that's just my personal preference. I was never a comic book person,
not even as a child. I don't want to see a new FK series with different
actors (I'd always see it just as a substitue)or an animated series but
since I'm a fan of audiobooks (and I love the spoofs and versions done by
Dragonslair)I could imagine a series auf audio dramas. And voices don't age
as much as faces do.

My two cents worth,

Hi-
I would love to see maybe one movie... just to work out what happened
in LK in a better way... maybe with some fan input... to put the
series to a better end.
Also I would love books... as in novels. I love reading the fanfic
and in books you don't have to worry about aging so you can put the
story in any time period of the series.
I'm not really a fan of comics/graphic novels since I feel that they
put pictures in your mind, that usually for me is not how I pictured
the charcters or locations. But that's just me.

I would go with books or short stories. Some of my
favorite fantasy authors allow/encourage fan fiction
and actually will contribute and edit anthologies. We
have a lot of talented writers in our group, it would
be interesting to see if TPTB and an editor/publisher
would be interested in some of our work. Or, perhaps
writers from the show.

I'm not a comic person, for the reasons obviously
stated. Not that I think there isn't a market for it
or a desire, but I prefer to try and envision my
settings and characters myself :)

I'd say all of the above

I'd love to see a movie come out or the show renewed (FK the next gen)
or even a cartoon would be reasonably cheap to make
and allow them to do alot more

> Same plot, different actors? (okay, I'd weep on that one)

I'd really like to see the orginal actors, but if they were busy
or couldn't do it, I guess that wouldn't be a deal breaker

Besides, if they had different actors, they could just cover it
by saying Nick & LC were found out & on the run
(Maybe even the farmers chacing with pitchforks scene)

So Nick & LC got cosmetic suregy as a disguise to fool people
(I don't know if suregery would take to a vamire,
but I'm sure Nat would find a way around that)

Even though getting different actors would be like what happened
on "Dukes of Hazzard" They changed the 2 main actors &
the show was never the same again

I'd also be of the all-of-the-above fans. Someone said cartoons are cheap to
make. That's no longer the case if you want a quality show, plus you still have
to pay actors to do the voices. They'd also try to juvenilize a cartoon, or
that's what I'd be afraid of. Imagine them trying to give Nick a talking monkey as
a side kick <g>

Of all the genres mentioned, I think the best adaptation would be a graphic
novel/comic book format. Preferably black and white. As to it not leaving
anything to the fan's imagination, what about television? You see everything
there including motion. ;-D

I wouldn't be against a show with a different cast IF the original cast didn't
want to do it, or couldn't. Even a "Next Gen" version. I remember some Trek
fans having a fit when Next Gen was announced, and then having to eat their words
when they loved the show. Shoot, I think I'd even take a remake of the original
show with different actors, or I'd be willing to give it a chance before
forming an opinion on whether or not it was a mistake. Actors aren't vampires, they
age, and might not be comfortable with a rationalization of why the characters
look older - or I'd be afraid working an explanation into a tv movie or series
return would overtake the entire plot-line.

As to the question of aging in a new edition of FK, I remember reading a
suggestion once that the virus that threatened the Community might actually
cause the aging process to temporarily take hold...

Thus...same actors, 10 years later!

Whoever thought of that, my hat's off to you!

Oh, imagine 'Eternal Knight' starring Nick and Nat's half vampire, half
mortal child. Now imagine which super natural gifts would he have. And then
there's the Enforcers! Yep, young Nicholas would have his father's traits to
try to always do the right thing, but the Community considers him a freak, a
betrayal of what they consider a vampire. Heck, he could even be on the
run, hiding from the Enforcers. And let's not forget to throw a love
interest in there, perhaps two; one mortal, one vampiress.

They wouldn't have to bring back Nick, Nat, LaCroix, or Janette. As you
said, the actors have aged, something that vampires don't do. But after
seeing Ger in D.C., the man could pull it off. He looked very similar to 3rd
season Nick--HOT!!!

Oh, Libs, you just had to get the creative juices flowing again! <BG> Hmmm,
perhaps I can pre-program my dreams tonight and visit the world of "Eternal
Knight".

He'd be a hybrid
There have been stories of people like this
they have the inhanced sences but don't need to drink blood
usually they become hunters
Like Blade - or the Ep where a cop from Irland came
to visit & turned out to be a hunter (I forget his name)

But being Nick's son, I'd think he wouldn't pick that job

But since Jr. has super powers - he might become like a super hero
Probally not with the tights & cape, but if a woman is being muged
or a place being robed, Jr could zip in, attack the bad guys
& zip out without being seen

Of course he's need a persona

I like the idea of a comic format mostly because it's closest to
TV/movies you can get without moving video. Some of the most poignant
scenes in FK involved no words, and don't work as well as that one
image when described in a story. The mix of the verbal and the visual
can produce amazing things. There is always, of course, the idea that
comics are kiddish, but anyone who's picked up a Vertigo title (or
even normal comics now that are getting deeper and more intelligent in
many cases) can tell you that comics can have an incredible amount of
genuine art to them, genuine depth. Right now, there are comics of
CSI coming out right now that are incredible show-quality stuff.
Right now, there is an "Army of Darkness" comic out right now
delivering the continuation from the movies that fans wanted to see in
ED4 but never got that's just perfect. Don't get me wrong...I'm not
dismissing fiction (I'm an English Lit major; I live on the stuff) but
I wanted to open up an idea I hadn't really seen discussed or brought
to mind. An FK book series would squee me like you wouldn't believe.

I thought of an anime type thing when I discussed a cartoon. I wasn't
talking about Warner Brothers ^_^ I think FK would translate well,
but I don't know about how you'd get the idea across to an animation
studio. Then again, if anyone here has seen "Nightwalker: Midnight
Detective", I wouldn't be surprised to find FK fans in animation
studios. Shido was about three steps and a haircut away from being
Nick, and Caine = really UFish LaCroix.

The idea of a Next Gen would be fun indeed (or even a redo) but
there'd HAVE to be cameos. Just...have to be.

I, too, would go with "all or the above", plus some!

I love the idea of a radio series, because then you have an inexpensive
production (unlike an animated series), and you can still get the original
actors. Catherine Disher is very radio-friendly, as I've noted here before.

I would also enjoy a spin-off TV series--just a new series, set in the FK
universe. (Kinda like Angel.) Let the writers do what they do best, and set us
up with a great new situation that's similar to Nick's, but different enough to
be interesting and new.
