Hi everyone.

I am 2 hours north of Gulf Shores in Alabama, in the direct path of
the storm if it stays on course. I'm going no mail as of tonight, as
we have no idea how long we'll be without power. We haven't had a
hurricane of this magnitude since 1979, when Frederick hit, and we
were without power for almost a week.

I'll give ya'll a shout when I'm back online. In the meantime,
please do keep us in your prayers.

Well actually it was my dad who made the comment, so I guess it would
be.. Your family knows you've been watching too much FK when....

Somehow a bat got into the house and was flying around. Of course,
my mom and I were screaming - was ducking on the floor, etc. After
we finally shooed it out the door, my dad asked "Why were you so
freaked out I thought you liked vampires..."
I said it would have been different if it was a handsome man with
fangs...

This may be a scam or it may not be, I don't know. I just got a
notice that claimed to be from TVonDVD, offering a special-- buy
Seasons 2 and 3 of FK, get season 1 for free (all for $49.99-- that's
what makes me think it's a hoax). Are both of them coming out in
January? Did anyone else get this?

*surfacing*

Apparently I'm helpless to resist the sinister attraction of FK limericks.
But I'm cheating a bit and posting one I wrote a loooong time ago, all the
way back in '99. So here's my dubious contribution.

There once was a doctor named Nat.
Who lived with Sydney, her cat.
Till a vamp she did wake.
Too much did he take.
Give her three pints of AB neg, stat!

Speaking of Nat (in a roundabout way), did anyone else catch Catherine
Disher in the commercial for a new Lifetime original movie? I was
channel-surfing Monday night and only stopped when I saw her in a brief
snippet. I didn't get any info, other than it was a movie about an attorney
(played by Mariska Hargitay) defending a young Amish girl who may or may not
have killed her newborn child.

I went to the site just now to get some info to report, but with my dial-up
connection their pages take too darn long to load. Instead, I googled and
found this:

LIFETIME Original Movie "Plain Truth" - October

Emmy nominated-actress Mariska Hargitay ("Law & Order: Special Victims
Unit," "Lake Placid") portrays a cynical Philadelphia lawyer who defends a
young Amish woman (Alison Pill) charged with murdering an infant in an
explosive adaptation of Jodi Picoult's controversial, best-selling novel
"Plain Truth."

"Plain Truth" is produced by Plain Truth Productions (Muse) Inc., and
distributed by Robert Greenwald Productions for LIFETIME Television. Michael
Prupas ("This Is Wonderland," "Icebound") and Alys Shanti ("The Crooked E,"
"The Book of Ruth") are the executive producers. Philip Kleinbart is the
supervising producer ("Every Breath You Take," "The Stranger Beside Me").
The teleplay was written by Matt Tabak (LIFETIME Television's "Obsessed,"
"The Stranger Beside Me"). Paul Shapiro directs.

So there you go -- two posts for the price of one! Go me.

*takes a deep breath, holds it, and slowly sinks beneath the surface
of the FK list waters...*

I got it, too. What really bugged me was all three seasons being on *nine*
discs. Season 1 alone was on five, and Season 2 had those extra eps.

What is the actual link to the site? tvondvd.com just refers you to
amazon.com and that only lists the first season. tvondvd.net doesn't
have anything at all about Forever Knight.

I haven't gotten anything like that and I'm on tvshowsondvd.com's FK mailing
list. And I got an e-mail from Gord Lacey at tvshowsondvd.com just last night,
and he said nothing about season 3 coming out. (I had mentioned how happy I was
to see season 2 was released.) I think somebody is pulling your leg.

We have lots of bats around here, too, and I always laugh when I see
them, as they make me think of vampires, which leads me to think of
FK.
Talking about YKYBWTMFK... I went to the store tonight and they have
their Halloween display up (already!), and one of them was a giant
Tigger dressed as a vampire... I collect Tiggers, and I LOVE vampires
(mostly FK vampires!), so I was getting odd looks as I was laughing
hysterically, thinking of Nick's reaction (or LaCroix's!!) to seeing
a giant vampire Tigger...
Okay. Back to dealing with sick family members.

Read the last paragraph. This is a private individual.
They claim they are just doing it for cost of DVD's,
maintenance of equipment, etc., not making a profit.
This is *not* licensed Sony product.

Hey all. Two things:

1) I've relocated www.ScreedWasHere.com

The site can now be found (in all it's ratpackerly glory) at
http://screed.blackraptor.net/

There's fiction, games, etc. Drop by and have some fun!

2) Greg Kramer is doing very well in his recovery. It's slow going at
times, but he's moving about and he's on the mend. I'm happy to
forward Get Well cards. Just let me know if you need the address.

Oh, and HALLOWEEN is coming up! It's Greg's favorite holiday, so if you
want to send him Halloween cards, now would be the perfect time to do so!!
If you can get them to me before October 1st, then I can get them to him
before the holiday! (And, if there's any cat lovers out there, feel free to
include notes to Cosmo.)

Cheers,
Bonnie

This is not a hoax, but it's not pro DVDs, either. This is a website of
someone who transfers tapes to home DVD (Region 0, -R). They have very
professional looking cases, a nice presentation, but please note that the
quality is only going to be as good as the tapes they had (generally good,
but not pro DVD quality).

I bought the "John Doe" DVDs from them. They respond quickly, and the
quality is acceptable, BUT... with pro DVDs on the way, I'd hold out for
those. I wouldn't want to see a home-base operation like this take away
from the sales of the pro Season 2 DVDs. That would make our getting Season
3 even harder.

Also... I'm not at all certain how *legal* this operation really is. After
all, even though the DVDs go for a fairly reasonable price, this person is
still very obviously making a profit from copyrighted material. So, buyer
beware -- and PLEASE hold out for the PRO FK DVDs, *please*!

Subject: Re: Admin: Re: war: any news?

Greetings, all.

I have been advised to keep this post monosyllabic. (All together now,
"oops, she's done it again.")

I've also been advised to post this under an alternate identity. But
that would be wrong.

The reason I'm writing is, masochist that I am, I love the FK Wars.

But my question is, are there enough people left in the online fandom
with the knowledge, background, and willingness to run/participate in
an FK War?

Although it's called a "War," it really works as a communal exercise
among folks who share assumptions about rules, roles, and a general
good humor about the insanity we are commiting together.

Does the FK online fandom still have the strength on the bench to pull
off a successful FK War?

Since the show is long gone, we seem to have spun off into many
separate factions and "fractions," which makes it harder to meet on
the field of a War which is really based on working together rather
than opposing or fighting.

As a former stage manager, I am acutely aware of how much behind the
scenes work it takes to run an FK War, and keep it from turning into a
trainwreck. (And, yeah, I'm the loudmouth who is willing to stand up
and tell the train driver when others agree that we're headed off the
tracks <g>.)

One of the unglamorous but important jobs in an FK War is to have a
cadre (platoon?) of people who read the War posts and digest them, so
everyone can keep up with Who Has Done What To Whom. In the past,
we've had some terrific people who have volunteered to do this. It
doesn't sound crucial, but IMO, it is. It's also a great way for
people new to FK Wars to take part. Most of the people writing War
posts don't have the time to read War posts.

Maybe our bench is as deep as ever, and I'm just being a worrywart.

But it would be nice to hear that, as a group, we can still pull off
an FK War and have fun doing it.

Best wishes,
Julia K.
