In the UK, BSkyB (a large tv company owned by the same guy who owns FOX) has
already started broadcasting The Horror Channel on its digital wavelength. So far
they've show a lot of the classic horror and detective films that would not/
may not get the same air time on other stations... they're not mentioned tv shows
yet since it's only been on air about 3 months but if it's the same channel,
then i'm definately keeping my fingers crossed

Looking for the piece that has the Teletubbies in it, with Lacroix
ending up in their little world and having to seek shelter from the sun.

I read it on fkfanfic.com last weekend, but don't remember who wrote it
or what the title was. I was just browsing and found it! Argh!

Anyone who can help will be my bestest friend!! ;-)

That's "Eh-Oh, Lacroix" by Sue Clark.

<giggle> that's EXACTLY what I thought when I read it!!! Actually, in one of
her forwards (I think it was for a short story) she mentions that a lot of
people have asked about connections to FK/Ann Rice/PN Elrod/etc. According to her,
it was just a case of a number of people coming up with similar ideas at about
the same time. (Not surprising, if you consider that they were probably all
influenced by the same movies, books, etc.)

I guess the scene that got me really thinking was when Vicki was in jail with
two characters named "Natalie" and the other one's last name was "Lambert."

Are there any tape trees still active? I misplaced a few of my tapes when I
moved, and it's getting very annoying not being able to watch them.

If I remember the story right, PN Elrod thought her first vampire detective
book (The Vampire Files) was the first, then she found out author... I think it
is, Lee Killough, who she later befriended, actually beat her to publication.
This was in response to a fan asking her if she based her books on FK... if
I'm remembering right and my memory is rather fuzzy at the moment. (Actually, I
think her books came out first)

So, basically, a lot of people did come up with the idea within sort of the
same time frame. But a fun writing exercise is to give a room full of writers a
basic idea, and tell them to start writing on their own. The number of
originally thought out ideas with the same basic idea, yet different in
numerous ways will equal the number of writers in the room.

Sorry to bug but since we're all in a searching mood I thought you may be able

I know there are a few like this but this one happens in the loft and it's just
annoying me know that I can't think of the name or the author

Please help bewildered reader

In a slightly different medium, the first vampire
detective I ever read about was Hannibal King in
Marvel Comics. He appeared in "Tomb of Dracula" way
back in the 1970's, and has appeared off and on since
then. The character appears in the upcoming Blade III
movie, as a matter of fact. :-)

Hannibal suffered from the same type of internal
battle as Nick, struggling to stay human and fighting
his vampire nature. He didn't have Nick's guilt so
much (maybe he wasn't Catholic, heh), but he abstained
from taking human life and in general tried to be a
good guy...for a private dick, anyway.

When Marvel was accepting submissions from unpublished
writers I even submitted a script that featured
Hannibal. I liked it a lot. Marvel didn't.
:-p I thought about adapting it for a novel myself,
but the field is getting a little thick now.

I've seen several posts this morning which have the complete post on which the
author is commenting attached. Some even include the other poster's sig file.
Please remember that there is a limit of 4 lines. This means not including the
other poster's sig file.

Another thing to do about this is to check your to: address, if you meant to
reply offlist. Sometimes you'll find that the reply is actually going to the

Subject: Channeling Nick

As a die-hard Die Hard, I like all the characters
pretty much equally. I admire Nick's determination to
be better than he is. I admire Schanke's loyalty, both
to the force and to the long-suffering Myra. LaCroix's
inner strength and certainty are forces to be admired
(from a safe distance, anyway), and Natalie, as
Uncle's opposite number, has a strength of her own,
along with smarts and education that are truly
admirable. I like Tracy's spunk, Janette's fashion
sense, and I like lots of things about Vachon, most of
which can't be repeated on a G-rated list.

But I've never really *identified* with Nick, until
today.

I sinned, you see. Sinned mightily. Oh, I knew better.
I've surfed the 'net for centuries (okay, decades),
and participated in group lists for much of that time.
I've tried to be good. I've resisted the temptation to
post too often, or so get too insulting even when the
poster in question clearly deserved my verbal smiting.
And I carefully snipped my replies, working hard to
keep from quoting too much of the previous post and
thus mightily annoying both those on digest and She
Who Must Be Appeased, McLisa.

Until today. Today all my hard-won control slipped,
and I backslid. I drank deeply of the pool of Reply
Laziness, and hit "Send" without properly snipping.

Now I sit here in the dark (okay, in a well-lit room
with a skylight), wallowing in guilt and wondering if
my quest to be a Good Netizen hasn't been all in vain.
Maybe I should just go over to the Dark Side, and make
rude comments about other people's typos and send
anonymous snarky remarks to those who have incurred my
wrath.

But no. I must have strength. Like Nick, I vow, after
a suitable period of self-loathing, to try again. I
will be a good List Member. I will!

McLisa, thank you for being my Natalie, and verbally
smacking me when I slip into the Dark Side of List
Posting. (But don't worry, McLisa. Unlike Nick, I
haven't yet developed an overpowering physical
attraction to you.) (Not yet, anyway.)

Janice
Channeling Nick and clearly having way too much time
on her hands

...And managing to backslide almost immediately,
sending this to the Fic list instead of where it
belongs. It's all LaCroix's fault.

Subject: Atomic Mouse #3 w/FK parody for sale by author

This is posted with McLisa's permission.

I'm the author of the FK parody 'Furever Ted' which appeared in the comic
book Atomic Mouse #3 by Shanda Fantasy Arts. I have a few extra issues to sale
(comic book writers have to earn part of their pay<g>). I have a LIMITED amount
of issues (first come, first served), and would be happy to sign or autograph
them before mailing.

My story is NOT the entire issues, there's other stories in it.

The noted, award winning comic book artist Joe Staton (Green Lantern, Guy
Gardner, Batman, Scooby Doo, etc.) did the art for my story.

The cost is $5 (cover price is $4.99), and postage is $1.25 in the US, a bit
more internationally but I'll gladly give you a postage price if you tell me
where you live.

I will take Pay Pal (and I do have a Pay Pal account that allows me to take
credit card payments but ONLY through Pay Pal), money orders (if international,
they MUST be pre-printed as payable in US funds), US cash at YOUR risk
(please, if you have another method of payment, use it), and checks from US
banks (if it bounces, EVERYONE will know you wrote me a bad check ;-D). I will
reserve the right to hold the item for 14 business days if you send a check.

I also have two professionally issued "Nick Knight" DVDs, the forerunner of
FOREVER KNIGHT with Rick Springfield. These are still in the shrink wrap. These
are from 'Top Ten New Media Production Limited' and were done for the bargain
bins. I think it was re-released more recently from someone else. Anyway, I'm
asking $5 each and that DOES include postage for fans in the US and Canada.

Thanks so much!

Please do NOT reply on-list about purchasing the comic or DVDs, e-mail me
directly at:

Libratsie@a.......

Remember, the number of comic books I have are limited. I have to save a few
to take with me to FenCon in Dallas next month (I'm a guest as is Nigel
Bennett co-writer PN Elrod - www.fencon.org)
