Subject: Thoughts on Janette

I was just watching Kristin's new video.. "Hold the Sky" (Wow!!!) and
it made me think of why I like the relationship between Nick and
Janette.
She (teasing and making fun aside) is most of the time, the only one
who takes him for who he is now.
Lacroix pushes him to give into the vampire and is disappointed when
he shuns the community. Natale pushes him to strive for mortality
and chides him when he 'backslides.'
Not that I begrudge either of them, but sometimes, no matter how much
you are striving to make a change in your life, it is nice to have
that person who will take you for who you are right now. Yes, that
person may have a preference on how they want you to be, but
ultimately they accept you.
I see Janette as that person in Nick's life. Yes, she does make
comments about Nick's quest for mortality (more so in the first
season) but she doesn't push him away because of his quest. She
makes her comments, but still stays by his side.

Well, that was my deep thought for the evening. Time for bed. ;-)

Of course, 'Fleur' was far more than likely just a nickname....

Subject: I Need A Man

Did the title catch your attention? :)

I'm a needy llama. After finding no willing victims among the men in my
life, I'm looking for someone who can voice a part in a fan-built video game
module for Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Amn. The character is a fallen
paladin named Reynald de Chatillon. Now, I ask you - who's more in touch
with Frenchy-named fallen paladins than FK fans? Nobody!! There's got to be
someone here with the skills to channel their inner Nick and help me out!

What I need:

- Someone who can record 16-bit sounds (The built-in Windows Sound Recorder
only manages 8-bit, which is tinny, but the free trial version of Goldwave
will do what we need.) with minimal background noise/line hum
- Someone who can emote. You know, ACTING into a microphone.
- Someone who can manage a quick turn around time. This voicing is holding
up the release of this particular mod, and we'd like to get it done now, not
next month.

This is a fan-run project, so nobody gets paid, but your name will appear in
the mod credits, and your efforts will be heard by whomever downloads the
mod, which, for the group I work with, can top 10,000.

If interested, contact me via e-mail OFFLIST. I'll see about getting you
hooked up with Reynald's lines, and if the mod producers like the results,
you're in!

And ladies, I don't have any voice parts for women on tap at the moment, but
if you want me to keep you in mind when I'm trying to cast other parts,
please e-mail me offlist as well.

Thanks!

Thank you for your kind words about my new music video Amanda! I agree with
you whole-heartedly. Janette truly was the only character in the series that
accepted Nick as he was. Their bond was very powerful, because they were
always there for each other one way or another. They shared so many things
including a love eternal...

Subject: Looking for a story

OK, I'm looking for a story as well.

It is about all the characters that were killed off on TV and now live
in some fancy resort to await ressurection. It was extremely funny.
Could someone point me in the right direction, please?

That's "Checking In, Checking Out" which I wrote after Mrs. Landingham
got killed off on West Wing. You can find it on my fiction page on my

Having just watched BMV last night, I agree heartily with your comments
WRT Fleur's education, class and manner of speech. Both women would have
certainly been exceptions among the women of their time. However, I did
not get an impression of deep faith from Fleur, especially when she
spoke of the stars & wanting to know what they were and having "a
curiosity about many things" (sort of paraphrased, I can't remember her
exact words). I don't think that a deeply religious person would have
expressed their thirst for knowledge in that way. (Wasn't curiosity
about the natural world considered against religion - especially in
women - where it might cause headaches and confusion?)

On a related note... Why do we never hear of Lacroix's interest in the
stars after this time? He seemed sincerely passionate about it (it
didn't seem to be a "pick-up" line ;)) I found it _really_ interesting
that he described the stars as being separate and unique (i.e. physical
objects, rather than metaphysical) and did not mention their influence
on humans (as might be expected for someone of the time). Does anyone
know if there are any fanfic stories about his interest in astronomy?
