I was at the CNN website when I came across a story with the headline
Vampire bats kill 13 people in Brazil, and couldn't help but think of
FK, even though the FK vampires don't turn into bats. Here's the story
link for anyone who's interested.

Rick Springfield (Nick Knight from the original pilot movie) is going to
perform on Ryan Seacrest's 'On Air' show in a few minutes. Here it is on FOX, so
check your local listings to see if it's on near you.

That is funny! Very rarely to you find the full name of an FK
character.

Hi Y'all!

Cousin Becky has a different address so please send your birthday
greetings to her here:
bayoubecky@c........

On a birthday list administrative note, I try to keep the list and the
addresses as accurate as possible. I send out a birthday confirmation
message a few days before the first of the next month with the birthdays
for the next month. If you think or know that you're on the birthday
list and don't receive a confirmation message, PLEASE email me
eowyn3@j........ Old addresses don't always bounce the message back to
me so I assume that the addy I have for you still works. And if you do
change addresses, I'd really appreciate it if you'd drop me a quick note
with the new address. Thanks!

My ten year old asked me this question today: If a girl vampire is a virgin
when she's brought across, would the hymen heal (therefore technically making her
*still* a virgin) everytime after she had sex?
 My guess would be, yes.
What do you all think? (Remember, this is a PG list!!!)

Interesting question. The answer that comes to mind would be, it would depend
on how one defined "virginity" or lack thereof. If an intact hymen
determines one's virginity, I would guess, yeah, I suppose she's technically
still a virgin the next day. On the other hand, what about those "virgins"
whose hymens are broken via bicycles and horseback riding. Are they any less
virgins because their hymens are not intact?

This question and answer would fall into the same vein as that age old
question, a la former President Clinton, what is sex?

Hey, if being shot isn't painful to a vamp, then she probably wouldn't even
know it was happening, unless there was a gyn exam...

I never got into Angel or Buffy

But FK was different, this wasn't comic book Good guy killing evil monster

Nick was good and evil at the same time
Nick had to learn to control his evil self, and at the same time
tap into that evil when things had to be done

That's why I half expected nick to have (or given)
the Ying Yang symbol - the idea that
good and evil are the same thing - like Nick

There's also the hint of redemption. Like Anician/Darth Vader
He started good, became bad, but returned to good
but his strugle wasn't as complicated as Nick's

Also the writing & plots were so good
The banter between Nick & Schanke - between Nick & LC
The EP where hey get sick (Aids)
The EP with Divia,
and all the flashbacks were so great

They made it so fun to watch

for a knight or knight-in-training. Does anyone know if, at this time, actors
were considered disreputable? That seems to have been the general perception
for many hundreds of years

But being immortal means having to change lives every 10 yrs or so.
If he was bit by the acting bug, he could change his identity and pop up
out of nowhere as an actor . . . . then a few years later disappear
and become something else

But having lived through all those years. How cool would it be to be able to
say,
"I was there for the FIRST preformance of Hamlet." or McBeth or Romeo & Julliet
or any of the other classics. I bet if he ever saw those plays again, he'd be
comparing them to the orginal, all those years ago. (Like I do. When someone
remakes an 80's song, I usually compare it to the orginal)

I had a weird thought . . .
Did nick set up some kind of dummy corp.
so he could move cow blood back & forth?
He can have it shipped to him where ever he is

Or even better, is Nick shipping cow blood to other vampires
Has Nick found other Vamps that don't want human blood anymore?
Maybe Nick has started a group of vamps that want to rebel agenst the old ways

VIVA REVOLUTION!

I can just a bunch of vamps logging on to Nick's web site
& wondering when their next shippment of cow blood will arrive?

Sometimes my mind goes in weird directions

        Maybe.
I do believe a show like FK could be made and broadcast successfully
today.
Part of it being successful would be finding the right network.
SciFi, FOX and the other "traditional" networks would probably
not be a good fit. The slash/burn mentality that drives ABC/CBS/NBC
seems to have spread into them with no good effect.
HBO seems like a possibility, they have several "off-beat" shows on
the air and seems inclined to take risks if the story ideas are good
and stand behind a show.
Another possibility to me would be Lifetime.
Some of their programming - Strong Medicine and The Division come to
my mind - seem to be good programs that are "women's programming"
simply because the cast has a predominance of women and they have the
bulk of the authority in the show.
If the characters of Nick and LaCroix were changed to women...with a
maybe a female partner.... why not?
My other favorite shows (Bab 5, X-Files, FireFly....) all are
partially a favorite because of the strong characters and the fact
that the women "seem real".
I may be biased by the vocal contingent of this forum, but there
does seem to be a strong female interest in vampires... why not "roll
with that"?
I do not really think a continuation of the series as is makes much
sense. Those stories have been told. The central concept of the
lives of a conflicted group of vampires living in the modern day is
something that can be revisited again with some casting adjustments
that would make for fresh stories and perspectives (and potentially
get a "hook" with a themed network).

                Tim

P.S. Before any suggests it, if the new show stars Pamela Anderson
and The Rock and broadcasts on SpikeTV after Striperella, I will be
the first person heaving the cable-box out a window.

Subject: Bit of trivia about ep C&C

I just finished rereading the book "Alice in Wonderland & Through the
Looking Glass."
Lots of fun... notincing the connections...
Anyhoo, there were end notes and one caught my attention regarding
the story/poem of the Walrus and the Carpenter that LC quotes some
lines from...
The note says that the poem is written in the same meter as "The
Dream of Eugene Aram" by Thomas Hood, which was about a schoolteacher
who was also a murderer. (I think I might have to find that poem)
I kind of thought that was interesting considering since in that
particular episode Nick was a cop who murders LC.
Yeah, kind of streching, but I thought it matched up.

You won't want to share it with a 10 year old, but if someone on the list
with a better memory than mine can remember the author and title, there is
a very compelling piece of fiction wherein Janette consoles Nicholas for
the loss of Alyssa by "becoming" Alyssa for him.
When Nick tells Janette that he tried to bring Alyssa across before
consummating their marriage in order to leave her a virgin, Janette reacts
with astonishment and frustration (which she keeps to herself) at such a
foolish piece of male illogic, which would have condemned Alyssa to
repeated pain because her body would heal after every act of lovemaking.
