Wanted: Australian FK Fan
For: Sharing FK with Fellow Australian

Merc Abby, who is not currently subscribed to forkni-l, asked me to share
this request on her behalf. Abby has an Australian friend who has become
interested in FK, after long hearing people discuss it and like it so very
well so many years later. However, this potential Australian fan does not
have a DVD player, and Abby does not have PAL tape capacity (neither do I,
for the record).

So Abby would like to find someone in Australia to make up a tape of FK
episodes, either the first six or a "best of" from season one (there's a
perennial controversy -- which are the "best"? <g>), just to get this friend
started on FK. Abby will pay for the tape and shipping. If someone can do
it, please contact Abby Albrecht off-list at <abby@albrechts.com>. (Loaning
tapes would be okay, too, but a dub would be preferred, so the friend can
just enjoy it as a gift.)

Thank you very much!

Subject: Re: vampire intoxication

We see in 'Feeding the Beast', after Monica Howard 'pushes Nick off the
wagon', he's at the Raven, drinking glass after glass of blood (or bloodwine?).
Janette tries to stop him saying, "I think you've had enough" and then tells him to
"dance and work it off a little".
When she calls Schanke and he and Nat show up at the Raven, she tells them
that "he is dangerous... he's had too much to drink", and advises them to leave.
This implies, to me, that vampires can get drunk. But by the time Nat and
Schanke are at the hotel with him, investigating the latest murder, he is fine. So
I think that they can get drunk, but that it probably doesn't last long, and
that means that they don't get hangovers.
Just my thoughts on the subject.

Subject: Evidence of Nat

Now I know it has been mentioned in many fanfics about how much time
Nat spends at the loft and how close they are, but (if I remember
correctly) it was never really state outright in the series... just
hinted at - (ie the popcorn scene)
Anyhoo, I was watching 'A Fate Worse than Death' this evening and in
the scene where Janette comes to the loft to confront Nick about
releasing the pimp (can't remember his name right now), in the angles
that show Nick sitting at the table, you get a nice view of his
kitchen counter.
There is a Mr Coffee - Nick certainly wouldn't be using that for
himself - and a blender - protein shakes anyone?
Ok, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

-Amanda (angsting over the fact that my motherboard is dying and I am
going to have to buy a new computer since it would be more expensive
and time consuming to get a new board)

Just to end any confusion... she did put the correct email but just
left off the 'm' at the end.
It is debrabant_foundation@y......

Subject: Fifteen Seconds of Fame---Sort Of (and an apology)

You all might know that I'm a technical writer---I create documentation for a
software product that is used by contact centers (the guys you call about
technical support or your credit card, things like that).

So I was asked for some screen shots of our product for an in-house PowerPoint
presentation. I needed agent names to put into the screen shot to make it look
more genuine, so I just grabbed what came to mind, got busy with PhotoShop, and
added names.

Yup, you guessed it. FK. But not only Nick Knight, technical support agent, but
also some actual fanfic writers got in there. (And that's where the apology
comes in.) Because they used my supposedly in-house screen shots for a publicity
announcement for the product. I apologize to you guys for using your names
without permission, but honestly, I never thought those screen shots would get out
of the building! You can see the screen shots at:

http://www.commweb.com/customercontact/showArticle.jhtml?articleId=18202009

If you squint really closely, you'll see my name in the bottom left-hand corner
of the first screen shot ("The new Cisco Agent Desktop"). And the second one of
"Team Reports" has a few familiar names on it.

So, there's my fifteen seconds of fame, sort of. And my apology!
