Hello

A CNN news article today about Ger's play in NY, and they speak with some of
the cast members including GWD. I know it's OT but given the number of GWD
fans, I thought I'd pass the URL along. (CNN usually only keeps their
articles up for a short time -- about 10ish days I think.)

It the same article I read back on St Pats Day from a
link on GWDs club page and I've have seen at least two
other links for it. It is an Associated Press article
circulating to different news sources.
A post on the Tracker list gave relevent "Ger-bits"
and the club has pictures of GWD and "Edmund".

"...
The Edmund played by Wyn Davies is not a typical
Edmund. He is more comical, more engaging and does not
have the "moustache-twirling, hand-wringing" qualities
that previous Edmunds have had.

"It's not as malevolent as usual. We tried to make it
more comical," Wyn Davies said.

The play has an unusual schedule - five performances a
week as opposed to seven or eight, because of the
marathon acting demands on Plummer.

"This is the executive plan," Wyn Davies joked of the
less-demanding schedule. "We just won the acting
lottery."
..."

The circus posters on Nick's upstairs walls likely relate to his
comment in "Last Act" (to Dean, the character with cancer) that he spent
some time in a circus.

 >always intrigued me is the motorcycle (a Norton
 >Commando)! What is the story behind this?>>

No story canon exists on the motorcycle, but rumor has always held that
insurance considerations prevented the producers from letting GWD ride it
for the show. Sometimes fanfiction suggests the motorcycle is in the
corner for repair.

 >Please, someone write a story about this, 'cause I don't think I've ever

If you can find it, there's a 1993 Fenris House zine by GH Coyote
called _Samskar_, with, as I recall, a memorable scene on Nick's motorcycle.

See "Partners of the Month" and "The Human Factor" for "Leonardo's"
portrait of Janette. The style seems to me an appropriate attempt at
imitation of his youthful work -- for a prop on FK's budget, anyway. (As
I recall, Apache has a good short piece about the painting of that portrait
. . . or was it the portrait's replacement Janette threatened to have made?)

I think we never see Erica's doll "Catherine" again after "Last Act."
(Lisa McDavid's "Heart Within the Beast" supposes Nick not only keeps the
doll, but eventually names one of his daughters after it -- or, rather,
after the child Erica so wanted but could not have, or after the character
in her final play.)

For FK's story canon on vampire intoxication and hangovers, in addition
to all the blood-laced wine floating our fictional Toronto, consider Nick's
reactions to the non-wine, blood-free alcohol beverages consumed in "The
Code" and "1966," while Lacroix does not drink the [possibly drugged]
champagne in "Be My Valentine." Nick gets quite drunk in "The Code," and
suffers many ill effects, but, then, that's poisonous stuff, the curare.
In "Dark Knight," Janette confides that her bartender (then implicitly
a human, not the later Miklos) thinks she's a "lush," but that may be
simply for the volume she consumes, not for behavior that implies being
affected by it. That Nick gets high on the lydovuterine in "The Fix,"
and drunk in "The Code," means that intoxication is at least canonically
possible.

But as has been pointed out, the story's reliance on vampiric healing
for things like bullets, burns and misplaced stakes logically also applies to
chemical hangovers, as alcohol and drugs are just poisons to be purged. But
what about intoxication and hangover from overindulging in blood or
blood-borne emotions? That's a more interesting fiction possibility,
because while it doesn't seem possible for an FK vampire to get "full" on
blood, Lacroix's reaction to Jack the Ripper's madness in "Bad Blood"
suggests that hangover-like effects could easily follow severe mental or
emotional disturbance metaphysically carried in the blood. Then there's
Lacroix's comment in "Capital Offense" that sanctity interferes with his
digestion. "Francesca" suggests a market for creativity, not emotion, which
is interesting, given Nick's discourse in that episode on "the way [FK
vampires] feel life." Is emotion-heavy blood likely to trigger backlash,
and so isn't a connoisseur sales product? Or did the "Francesca" episode
just shy away from the brutality of valuing fear-drenched blood, as it
was more of the vampire romanticization genre?

Much fanfiction uses ideas of vampire intoxication, sometimes from
alcohol, sometimes from blood, sometimes from drugs or alcohol in blood not
otherwise mixed with anything. (I belive recent stories in that area include
Jarvinia's "Intoxicating, Isn't It?") Hangovers are less common -- though
I'd think they'd be fruitful hurt/comfort vignette territory, especially when
involving Nick, and therefore regret and remorse as well as physical
discomfort.

Obviously I'm not a list owner, but I don't think it's
OT. It's about a current project of an FK alum, there
are several direct quotes of that alum. Seems fine to
me.
