Re: vampires revealed to humanity---

There was a hilarious fic written about this. The premise was that,
now that the cops know Nick's a vampire, they give him special
assignments that require his special powers. And give him reprimands
for needlessly ripping doors off their hinges, and breaking through
windows, etc.

I can't remember the title or author, but it's a good one. Anyone
remember it?

There's Emily Hanson's series where Schanke returns as a werewolf, and they
end up heading a new special investigations unit for (for lack of a better
term) "otherworldly" murders and such...

Also, back to the original question, wasn't that, in short, the essence of
the "If Only They Knew" challenge from some years back? I remember reading
challenge entries that included things like commercials for vampire
toothpaste...

Is someone setting up a tape tree for this?

Anyone know where I can find this one? Or does someone have it on their
hard drive and feel like sharing?

Thanks!

If they are, discussion should probably go off list, but I am
interested.

Subject: Catherine Disher in Snakes and Ladders

There's a review of this new six-show miniseries in today's Toronto
Star's Star Week TV guide, along with a couple of pictures of the cast.

The writeup notes, "If there is a standout in the first episode it's
Disher (Forever Knight) as the minister [of Human Resources and
Government Services, Audrey] Flankman. She merrily scene-steals and I
kept thinking Sheila Copps would be proud of this comical imitation.
Disher says she tried to combine Copps, former Reform MP Deb Gray and
even a bit of the late Judy LaMarsh all in one. She really gets into the
larger than life character who's always hollering, always on.

"I met Deb Gray at the Convention. We talked in the washroom through the
stalls," Disher says. "I'm playing Audrey as an A-type. She knows how
unfair politics is for women. She can be childish, demanding bus she's
also pretty fair."

The show is created by Wayne Grigsby who also did Black Harbour, Ger's
show from 1996-99.

Talking about Catherine.

I know her birthday is June 22. Anyone know what year?

Also, what is her son's name and when was he born.
I think it was either 1993 or 94.

I don't think we ever knew Cath's age, though I think lots of us assumed that
she was around Nat's age, so probably born around 1960.

As I'm sure you know, her son's father is Cedric Smith, who was in 2nd season.
Her son is Major Darcy Smith, and he was born between 1st and 2nd seasons, so
1993, I think. I was thinking yesterday or today about how he's over 10 years
old now...I can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that FK started over 10
years ago, let alone that Cath's son is over 10.

Tomorrow, CBC Radio One will feature a bit on Snakes & Ladders on The Sunday
Edition (http://www.cbc.ca/thesundayedition). The promo I heard didn't say who
they would be talking to, but I would say the odds are excellent that CD will
be
there, since she does so much work with CBC Radio Drama and CBC is really good
at plugging their own. The show is from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. in all local Canadian
time zones; if you go to The Sunday Edition's webpage, and click on the Listen
to CBC Radio Live link (top icon on the right side), you can click on the link
for your time zone and listen to the interview on the net in RealAudio. If I
can, I'll send out an e-mail tomorrow morning saying what local time the piece
is airing at.

And I think CD will be great in this role; I just hope they have some good
writing and supporting cast too! (Still greatly disappointed in Tom Stone, for
so many reasons...)

Sadly, I live in the country and have only one satellite receiver, so I have to
look to the schedule to solve this problem. Besides, I want to tape both of the
shows...

Her son is just about the age of my youngest. She was born in September of
1993. My daughter thinks it's funny that her son is the about the same age as her.
I went and saw the ad for CD's new show, and I was struck by how much she's
aged since I last saw her in anything. It looks as if she's put on a little
weight, too, but she's still very pretty.
I've put on quite a bit of weight myself, so I can empathize. ::sigh::

I'm interested in obtaining tapes of this. And if anyone has anything else
that's pretty recent that she's been in, could you contact me offlist? Thanks.

I'm late reading my mail, so this is a very delayed
reaction. Sort of quasi FK related, here in
Prescott, AZ, we have an "Elrod Street" (P.N. Elrod,
Nigel Bennett's co-author for 'Keeper of the King' and
'His Father's Son') I keep meaning to take a picture
and see if I can email it to the author.

sometime from 10:30-11:00 local time this morning. See my earlier posting for
info on how to listen to it LIVE over the internet.
