Blockbuster doesn't usually break up disk sets for rental until it's a
company-wide initiative (like "The Sopranos" or "Sex and the City"). However, some
Blockbuster stores will break up a set to rent disks if the disks are not
otherwise available (like "Back to the Future" and the new "Indiana Jones" set).

It's gonna be a matter of how the regional Blockbuster handles it and how the
local stores deal on a store-by-store basis.

There's no harm in asking. Outtakes have become a pretty standard feature
these days. People at Sony know we know the blooper reel and--far more
important--the dailies material from season 2, exist. The footage still
belongs to the production, so Sony would have the right to use it.
Retrieving unused footage--whether from official archives or from the
"garages" of staff and actors--is a common way of gathering material for
DVDs and making-of pieces.

The amount of say any given actor might have in blocking an item's use
would depend on his or her contract. I have to say, it's hard to imagine
anyone on the FK roster objecting to appearing in 2nd season footage--even
animated characters go onscreen with their outtakes these days<gr>.

However, there would have to be an explanation for American audiences as to
why "LaCroix" is brought almost to his knees with laughter when faced with
a box of breakfast cereal.

My local 24 hour walmart told me that they wouldn't get them until at least
next week. They said the Super Wallmarts got those things first. They might
not even get them I was told. And of course, having out of work spouse keeps
me from running to Borders and getting them. I was so broke during the
preorders I couldn't order them. Big sigh.
Perhaps if I write to Santa Nick I might get one :)

Subject: Thinking...

I just heard from my niece that she just got me yet another set of FK
discs. She is going to give them to me for Christmas.

So, I wondered if anyone who has a web page would be willing to
create a page of people who would like to buy a set and people who
have a set to sell and for how much. And keep it up to date. I am
pretty much hopeless at creating pages (I've tried, they don't load
properly) or I'd do it myself.

Right now I have e-mail from 6 people who would like to buy a set and
only two sets to sell (and one of those is still on the way.)

Hi Folks!!

Yes, I am alive!! And, I *almost* have a life, thanks to giving up being a
"Director" after 8 years and going back to just being a Psych Charge Nurse (oh,
wow, what does that say, <g>).

Anyhow, I got two sets of the DVD's today (ordered one for ex-SO, still good
friend, for Christmas...), and I have run them all through every DVD player we
have, both old and new. They all play, # 3 included.

Gotta say, I am ***delighted!!***

Seems to me that we have been clamoring at Sony Tristar and Company for
oh-so-long now, and here we have:

--The original "Crime Time After Prime Time" tag; way cool, since I have not
seen that since I started watching the show when it first aired, way back when

--Not all, but *some,* "next week/time on Forever Knight" promos--those are
not so easy to come by

--Maybe it is me, but the quality seems just FINE to me!! I have FK on both
American and Canadian VHS, PLUS a set of really-quite-good VCD's (play on most
newer DVD players) of the whole series, and another not-as-good set of VCD's
that I gave to a dear friend <<waves a LOT <LOL> >>. These DVD sets, IMHO,
re: quality FAR outweigh any of those, with no offense intended to the makers
of my other/older sets, I love them and have always been thrilled to have them,
and YES, I will keep my VHS and VCD's also <g>. I do have newer players that
are "Region Free," as well as decoded for various things, but I also have
older players. These two sets of discs I got play on them all, and they look
great to me.

--I did not expect to see "Bloopers," in this set, since the only "Official"
set of Bloopers was from Season Two......

--We did indeed get the Canadian minutes....

Etc., and so on.

Obviously, I am absolutely delighted with my DVD's' and to tell you the
truth, I am beyond thrilled that the efforts of fans were *finally* "heard."

This is all, of course, only my opinion, and your version/mileage may vary.
Everyone is absolutely entitled to any opinion at all...., I am just tickled
to pieces, I guess :o)

LC bursts out laughing & nick says "Please not oatmeal"

I suppose you're right, but since Sony doesn't have enough regard for the
fans or the show to put out the whole thing uncut, I don't see anything
wrong with finding another way to get what they will not produce. However,
legality and morality are two different things.

Speaking just for myself, I would be more likely to buy the DVD if I knew I
could also get the uncut episode of Dark Knight from another source. As it
is, I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to buy it.

I'm disappointed about the lack of extras and missing scenes too. HOWEVER,
you people are going to keep on with the bad reviews on sites like amazon til
you cheat us out of the other 2 seasons being on dvd. You aren't just hurting
yourself by posting these bad reviews, you're hurting ALL the fans. *I* want
the other 2 seasons of forever knight to come out on dvd and if the sales suck
for the 1st dvd b/c people decided not to buy because of some of those
reviews--they may not put the other 2 seasons out on dvd. I think some of you
really need to think a little harder about the consequences of your actions.
Whining and venting on this list helps i suppose...it's good to get things out.

A thought...i would think that most people tend not to read the entire review
of a dvd--and just read the first line or so. Well, even Kristin posted on
amazon with disappointed in the first line of the post.

At this point, i'm not even expecting to see the other seasons on dvd. And
before anyone says it, no, i'm not picking on her--she's done a lot for FK--it
was just an example and i was pointing out that i was surprised to read it.

I haven't received my set of DVDs yet, so I can't comment on the quality per
se, but I am happy they are putting the set out on DVD no matter what. We
have been waiting YEARS for this. There are also a lot of list members who are
having trouble paying the price as it is. Let's face it, if Sony had enhanced
the DVDs and put in a lot of extras, the price would have gone even higher. I
too am disappointed that Dark Knight is not the full version, and I too am
trying to get a VHS copy of the complete episode, but I'm still happy to have
bought the set.

I would also hope that people would keep the negativity down so as to not
ruin the chances of the last two seasons being put out on DVD.

Life is not perfect - sometimes you have to be happy with what you have.

Actually when I first heard what was supposed to be $23
suddenly turned into $59-79 I thought the people in charge
were doing a little price gouging
A $40+ jump is a little suspisious
But they knew how badly we wanted them

I'm sorry, but I doubt a group of powers were setting around Sony going
"let's really get the fans this time - we will cut a few seconds out of ONE
episode because we can. Then we can laugh..."

I don't know what happened to the scene, but I and MANY others are not
worried about a short scene we can get on tape from other fans. You may not
want the rest of the series on DVD, but I bet the good majority of us DO.

<< However,
legality and morality are two different things.>>

Cutting a scene from a DVD has little to do with morality, IMHO. MOrality to
me goes for more world shaking events like terrorism, stealing, murder, gay
bashing, racism. A missing scene is not causing the downfall of western
civilization as we know it.

Sure, I wish it was there, but I watched the episode yesterday on the DVD and
still loved it. They did not have to give us the Canadian versions in the
rest of the episodes but did. Shoot, they didn't have to release the DVDs to
begin with, but did.

Some of us worked very hard to get FK out in any form possible. I started
back in 1995 or 1996. I'm, overall, very pleased with the DVD and think a good
number of us are. If the bashing of Sony by a few people cause them not to
release seasons 2 and 3 due to complaints, I will be beyond disappointed in FK
fandom, especially since my favorite character doesn't come into the series
until season 3.

Sony has been very generous to allow us to have fan fiction to begin with.
They could easily crack down. They have been generous in turning their heads
when we openly advertise fan produced merchandise. They also could have cracked
down on our tape exchanges. They own the Forever Knight trademark/copyright and
have the sole right to reproduce and distribute the series. We CAN get the
scene from other sources - each other. Sony could easily step in and crack down
on that legally, but I doubt they do.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I (and others) are expressing ours
that we LIKE the DVDs, and are wanting the next two seasons. It is one thing
to say "I'm disappointed there was a VERY SHORT BIT missing from ONE episode,"
it is another to bash Sony and everyone who has worked so hard for this day.

This probably sounds a lot more terse than I intend it to be - I have a very
severe sinus infection and feel like one of Screed's week-old empties. But I
dang well want to SEE Screed on a professional DVD.

Again, I am disappointed in the missing scene, but being disappointed in a
missing few seconds or missing minute doesn't mean I'm not delighted in the
other approximagely 17.4 hours just has never getting a pony under the Christmas
tree meant I hated and pitched a fit over the presents that WERE under the tree
<g> Just think, if this set sells out and is later reproduced, it gives Sony
a reason to insert the few seconds and call the second "printing" of the DVD
"extended." <weg>

See now, there you go...I love that idea!! Heck, the Highlander folks have
done something similar with each HL movie, and add things to their boxed-set
VHS, now they have gone to DVD as well; and they have done such re-issuing more
than once!

I absolutely agree that if complaints are long and loud, we may never see the
other seasons. Like I said in my post yesterday, I too am just thrilled to
have my sets. I watched several episodes also, and saw a number of things I
have not seen since I watched my set of Canadian tapes.

No offense or finger pointing to anyone in particular intended, absolutely
not..., and just IMHO, let's **thank** TPTB at Sony and Company for releasing
FK at all!!

This will just not happen. There is one reason, and one reason only that
TPTB will not release season 2 and 3, and that is if Season one doesnt make
money. With all our passion you have to realize that Sony couldn't care less
about
complaints about the DVD with the exception that it will affect the sale of
the DVD. I dont think we have to worry too much about the complaints. People
complain all the time. Relatively speaking, those of us that got the DVD's at
the cheaper price were really lucky, and I feel I got my more than my money's
worth. I buy a lot of DVD's and there is really no way to gauge how much a
DVD is going to cost. I just saw the 9 hour miniseries Shogun for $70, but
again, I think it depends on what they think demand is going to be. Like it or
not, FK is NOT mainstream, it has a small loyal following, like many shows, and
we are very lucky to have these DVD's at all.

A point I would like to bring up about Dark Knight. I belong to another
fandom which has an even more limited appeal than FK, and has little chance of
making it to DVD, mostly because uncut masters of the show do not exist anymore.
One of the Actors from the show have his personal uncut tapes, and to my
knowledge, except for fan copies taped at first airing, these may very well be
the only uncut versions left. So maybe sony couldn't find the original master
for Dark Knight part one, and didn't have time to re-edit another copy.

Who really knows.

2 last night. The quality is much better than my old worn tapes,
although I won't be throwing out my DK 1 tape because the DVD cut one
of the funniest bits in that ep, the one where Nick notices the suit of
armor was put together wrong.

I'm going out of town this weekend for a relative's wedding, so I won't
be able to watch all the DVDs, but I'm bringing my laptop (which has a
DVD player) and the first DVD.

Absolutely! Reality check time, people---Sony is HUGE. FK is a tiny, tiny asset
that they have stashed in the corner of the fifth sub-basement in a broken
cardboard box. Some mid-level manager sent the junior file clerk down to the
sub-basement to get the master tapes, and he accidentally brought up the wrong one.
There's no conspiracy. Really.

I'm with you, Libs. I have two very good copies of the uncut Canadian version
of DK1. So I keep one tape out of the twenty I'm going to be able to offload. No
biggie. I can deal.

The only time I heard they stepped on one of ours, it was Jean Graham's
wonderful novel--which just looked too professional for their tastes. Other than
that, they've left us blessedly alone. Let's keep it that way.

And I recall that as being marketed as a "novel" instead of fan fiction
(although I may be remembering wrong).

One of my favorite scenes in all of FK was apparently not on the DVDs -
previously mentioned in another post - the "this piece does not belong on this
armour" one. VERY funny, although I didn't notice it missing when I watched
yesterday. I'm still not upset. That is why I have Dark Night on video. If I
want to see that scene, I'll pull out the videos.

We are very lucky to have FK on DVD. I do hope that we've sold enough of
season 1 to have season 2, and then season 3. It is likely to bring new people
into FK fandom.

For those of you with libraries, be sure to request your library purchase the
series. My library has many popular tv series on tape and DVD and they do
take requests. So I'll be dropping "Forever Knight" into the suggestion box the
next time I'm there.

I checked Nigel's fanclub website, Black Hat Station, and found that he plays
the villain.

McLisa, who was also curious about this

I listened to parts 1 and 2 before I had to leave for work. Very interesting.
At the end of part 2 (I think) they played a clip of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't
Fear the Reaper". I found this amusing because a couple of months ago I made
myself a mix CD of a bunch of songs that made me think of FK and that one is on
it!
Well, I thought it was kind of funny, that whoever put together the interview
thing, thought that song fit in also.
Can't wait to get home tonight and listen to the rest of the interviews.

Hello All,
De-Lurking to say this,
I don't about the rest of you, but I was a little disappointed in the radio
show.
One, it was a surprise to learn it was on and two they didn't seem to
answer very many questions. But it was nice to hear Ger and Parroitt and
their take on the show.
I am also very happy they released Forever Knight on DVD's.
