Just want to put my 2¢ in on the DVD versions. Yes, Dark Knight Pt.1
is the butchered U.S. version and Yes, the rest are Canadian. I have also
noticed
that 7 of the episodes are out of sequence(??). They seem to be following
the 3 Season Episode Guide that was printed in the UK magazine "Cult Times"
Special #9 Spring 1999. Could someone enlighten me as to what this magazine
is referencing - original U.S., Canadian, or European TV airing dates.

Thank in advance,

I went by Best Buy and they didn't have any copies at all. They didn't order
any. I had to go to Borders to get my set, and paid $79.99.

Subject: Updated FK Page

I would like to announce a whole new look to my Forever Knighties page.
Please come and check it out. The design I chose is simple and elegant. For
those with older browsers or dial-up connections, my pages do not use
flash, frames or splash pages. Simple and pure, they are for information only.

http://www.squidge.org/~nat1228/fk.htm

Included on the page are links to a complete archive of FK screen captures,
by season, for each episode; the "Forever Fangs" page especially for
Halloween; the FK Nepotism page -- see family members making special
appearances; pictures and reports from the fourth and fifth "Weekend With
Ger" (Gertherings); as well as cross stitch and my fan fiction. And don't
forget the link to the "Forever Links" page, with a wealth of other
wonderful FK pages for you to visit and enjoy!

Also included are instructions for joining and maintaining your list
subscriptions, a blurb on the new FK DVDs (of course), a new production
from Dragon's Lair Studios of Vickie Holt's "Vengeance is Mine," and a new
book by Gwenn Musicante: "Forever Knight: A Reference Guide."

Come check out the new look and renew your acquaintance with an old,
established webpage.

I don't know. I don't care about "extras" either. The one thing I did
care about was having complete, uncut episodes.

I think Sony owes everyone a separate disk with just the complete, uncut
episode of Dark Knight on it.

I have to agree that the quality of the DVD set is
lacking. I really AM glad that I bought the set at the
price I did. If Sony wants to sell set 2 and 3 they
had better fix the quality to match the $80.00 price
tag. This set was worth $30.00. I could have dubbed my
videos over to DVD and gotten the same quality. I do
however like the episode guide and the fact that it's
out to buy. It needed to be done! Perhaps the best
thing that may happen, is WE will gather some more
people for the Fandom from customers who like the look
of the box art and decide to just buy it on a whim,
having never seen it before.

IMHO I think once I have the *3rd season* safe in my hot little hands I
might clamour for a Canadian version Dark Knight. Until then I'll just keep
those 2 eps on VHS (going to give all the rest to a friend with no DVD
players) and be thankful that we got anything at all.

My 2 cents about "extras": If Sony had released FK on VHS, there would
have been no extras and we would have all (ok, most) been thrilled
regardless. I don't buy DVDs for the extras, I buy the shows I love in a
format that will last. Extras are just that. Nice, but not essential.

And Amazon... I (IMHO again) think maybe we should be careful when posting
negative reviews/comments on sites like Amazon. I worry that people will
read them and think the DVDs are not worth buying at all. I don't think any
of "us" on the list wrote the worst reviews though, so maybe there's no
point me writing this...but I know I read the reviews when buying from
Amazon, and the reviews have often "talked" me out of a purchase I otherwise
would have made.

The part after he says "Lock up when you leave." He starts to talk about how
homeless people were always their easy prey and nobody cared when they're
gone, except him. "This is his way of calling me out Nat..." and he kisses
her hair and gets up. That's the true end of that scene.

Only Lacroix could be responsible for the utter inability of MS Word to

I've had the good fortune to meet a number of listmembers over the years
at various events -- Shrewerthang, sci-fi cons, Gererthang, parties, etc.
Always, always, however I imagined them, (based on getting to know them
onlist) they looked very different than I'd guessed. Even with the
benefit of descriptions (hair color, height, etc), I was always
very wrong in how I'd imagined them to look.

I finally decided that it must be a basic principle of the Internet,
that people NEVER look exactly how you'd imagined them.

We have some wonderful videophiles on the list who have, in the past,
produced copies of the Canadian versions of FK on tape as fund-raisers for
Children's Hospital. I suspect that eventually we will hear that they have
transferred Dark Knight from their master VHS tapes to DVD for the same
excellent purpose.

One of the biggest extras would be the blooper reel (aka The Thing We Do
Not Have) and the appropriate place for that would be on the second season
set. So, there's a good reason to lavish praise upon Sony for launching the
series and asking them to consider putting the bloopers in the secod
season, along with actor interviews, etc.

Amen. IMHO, we should make an effort to post positive--but realistic, not
"raving fan"--reviews on the Amazon site. There are a certain number of
people out there who use the Amazon review system as a way of getting
attention for themselves, so I would ignore them.

Yes, I haven't noticed a comment on this before--the box art is really
excellent. The choice to show Nick with eyes glowing but a face otherwise
human, in contrast with the vamped out LaCroix and Janette, and the blue
color scheme instead of "slasher red" sends a message that this is not your
usual vampire tale.

Has anyone noticed whether or not it's available to rent in Blockbuster and
other places?

Keep in mind that Sony may not have the blooper reals. They are usually done
by the people working on the set to show at the end-of-the-season wrap party
and there may be no "official" copy in existence. Plus, some of the actors
involved may not want the bloopers in an official product.

I'd like to see interviews, maybe some commentary. HOwever, as I sit here and
watch the first season, I'm EXTREMELY pleased with the quality of the
picture. I also love not having to individually start each episode - it is just
playing through one by one.

*sigh* I'm in HEAVEN, I'm in HEAVEN, la-da-da-la-da-da-la-da-da. (This is one
fan who just can't believe this day is finally here)

As for fan-produced DVDs, be VERY VERY careful. Now that there is the
official product on the market, I would think Sony would be very protective of
their
copyright over Forever Knight. They've been very kind to us by allow fans to
trade and produce the video tapes, but it would be within their legal right to
crack down, even on DVDs/videos produced for charity.

Well, given everything that has happened with me in the past eighteen
months, were I to meet up again with any of the list folk who *have* met me
IRL, I would not look *at all* how they remember me...

No. But I did find it at Best Buy. They said that they only got 5
copies. I went to Wal-Mart and found it, but it looked as if they
only had 2 copies.
I hope they sell well. I'm going to keep an eye on them. I think I
sold a copy at Best Buy to the lady who told me where they were. I
told her about it, and then told her that it might sound like
'another vampire story' but that it was much better done than any
others and had some interesting twists and was more than worth buying
a copy. Since I'm drooling over a personal DVD player out there
(maybe if it gets damp, they'll sell it really cheap--it'll take me
two years to save up for it), I'll keep an eye on their 5 copies.

Well, in Canada, Alberta, in the Wainwright, Lloydminster, Edmonton area, I
haven't found any yet. I was up in Edmonton on Tuesday, picking up the
hubby from the airport, and went to the Best Buy in SouthEnd Common, and
they didn't have any, nor had even heard of it. The Wal Mart in the same
area didn't have any either. So when I went up to Lloydminster yesterday, I
went to Wal Mart there, no go, nor did Zellers or the Blockbuster by Wal
Mart have any, or even knew what I was talking about. However, the nice
folks at Blockbuster, said tehy would see if thy could order it in for me.
<sigh>

Cheers,
Debbie
