If Vampires don't have to breathe all the time, why does garlic affect them?

The sheer prevasiveness of garlic, IMO, trancends the ability to breath..
Its mere presense seeps into anything and everything... And I love garlic...

Here's my theory. We know from The Fix that there is both a genetic and a
viral component to the vampire. Garlic has antibacterial and/or antibiotic
properties to it. (Can never remember which.) So it could easily be that the
antiviral properties of the garlic are *exactly* the ones that the vampire
virus is most susceptible to.

Good Morning (temporary delurk <g>), (and I just accidentally sent this to
Liz privately, sorry Liz!!)

Liz the Lucky said: <<Garlic has antibacterial and/or antibiotic properties

Antibacterial and antibiotic mean essentially the same thing--antibiotics are
given to kill enough bacteria (same is true, *essentially* of antifungals,
which are, in their own way, antibiotics) for a person's __own__ immune system
to fight off the rest and get well. We develop antiBODIES to viruses and
such, which is why we cannot (theoretically, ha!) "get the same cold twice," and
why immunizations for things like the Measles "work." Antiviral medications
work in a somewhat different fashion, generally keeping the virus at bay (like
with cocktails given for HIV, preventative meds given for Herpes, etc.);
bacterial and fungal infections (with a few exceptions--there is currently no
cure for Methacillin Resistant Staphylococcus A [MRSA] or Vancomycin Resistant
Enterococci [VRE], for instance--which is, I am sure, WAY more than you wanted
to know <g>; hope I spelled those right, it is early <g>) can be cured, viruses
cannot be "cured" by medication, per se.

However, garlic is believe by much of the medical community to have several
positive effects on the body--one of which is **boosting the immune system,**
making it easier to fight off viruses.

Which is a really LONG way of saying, I love Liz's theory :o) Works for me!

Forever Yours,
Billie-Lee

I spotted our dearly beloved portrayer of Capt. Cohen last night at the
movies. Natsuko Ohama popped up briefly in 'Bad Santa' as a Phoenix
pedicurist. It was pretty much non-speaking, but she did get to play her
expressions off of Bernie Mac.

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I've
been away from the computer for a few months while
recovering from surgery. I'm back at work (part-time)
now, so I have limited computer access.

Anyway, I bought 3 copies of the FK DVD sets, and all
3 of them were defective. There was a problem with
the sound sync. The mouths didn't move at the right
time. It looked like a badly dubbed Hong Kong Kung Fu
movie. It was very annoying. I don't beleive this
was caused by my DVD player. I played movies before,
during, and after checking these discs and did not
have any problems with any other discs. I returned
all 3 for exchange and I'm awaiting my new sets.

Because this happened on all 3 sets, I'm thinking
there was a manufacturing problem. Did anyone else
have this problem with their DVDs?

No, we bought two sets and both are fine. This is too weird! Sorry you had
problems! Good luck with your replacements.

I don't recall seeing anyone else mention this problem when playing the DVDs
so it could be that your player just isn't compatible with how the FK DVDs
were recorded. You may want to try playing them on another player. Try taking
them to Best Buy or some other dealer that will allow you to try out different
players to see if the same thing happens.

The first set I received had 1 disc that was defective and 2 copies of disc 3
instead of discs 2 + 3. I received a replacement and it was fine.
