I was just there and couldn't find the FK DVDs offered under any of their
searches. However, when the DVDs were first announced, I *did* place an
order there (for $22.06/set and free shipping). I emailed them and was
assured that my order would be honored, and I would receive my DVDs at the
pre-order price of $22.06. However, I haven't a clue as to why they haven't
relisted at a higher, or the same, price.

Yes, but you missed out several major factions. So why don't we invite
faction members to tell us what antics the NatPack, the N&NPack, the FoDS,
the FoSSils, the DieHards, the Caddywhackers and the Mercs (to name but a
few of those omitted) will be getting up to?

(Well, okay, so it 's fairly obvious that the Caddywhackers are yelling
"Don't let Schanke drive the Caddy - *ever*!", and the Mercs are trying to
figure out how to make the most profit from the DVD release, but what about
the rest?)

When you're reading a new, strange on-line comic you've stumbled accross
called "Pibgorn", and today they're talking about the ACCORDIAN being
invented by supernatural beings and you think "Isn't that ironic, Schanke
loving an instrument that vampires invented".

Subject: GER ON BROADWAY!!!!

August 27, 2003

In today's Toronto Star (available on the web at thestar.com), theatre critic
Richard Ouzounian announced that Ger will be joining the cast of Chris
Plummer's Stratford (Ontario) production of King Lear, directed by Jonathan Miller,
that will open at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York next
March. Ger will be playing Edmund. Brent Carver will be joining the cast as
Edgar, he was previously on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman, and was also
in the opening gala with Ger for the renaming of the Hummingbird Centre
(theatre) here. Lucy Peacock (who played Kate in Taming of the Shrew with
Ger...the
Shrewthering) was in the original Stratford production last year and will be
going to Broadway with the show as well.

I saw this production in Stratford last summer, and it was just *awesome*!!!!
With Ger and Brent in the cast there aren't words to describe how fabulous
it'll be! I'm getting to New York if I have to start walking now <g>! And, of
course, there's always a chance that Ger could get nominated for a Tony for
his role, too!

Be still my heart <g>! This sure made my morning <g>!!!! And the headline
for the article calls Ger "hunky"...truer word was never spoken <g>!! But
then, Richard Ouzounian knows Ger, he directed him at Stratford when Ger was
originally there many years ago.

A message from Lynne Ackerman in Toronto (or, as we like to call it,
"Hollywood North"). Via e-mail: lynnea212@a.......

I saw the premiere showing of Lear in Stratford last year, and it was truly a
wonderful production. It's great news that Ger is joining this ensemble!

Here's the text of the Toronto Star article:

NEW YORK—This town (which makes it a habit not to act impressed over anything)
is already buzzing over the arrival next March of Christopher Plummer and the
Stratford Festival in Jonathan Miller's production of King Lear.

The show was headed for Broadway as soon as N.Y. Times critic Ben Brantley flew
up to Stratford last fall and pronounced Plummer's performance as "wonderful."

After protracted negotiation with a variety of companies, it was finally
announced that the production would be heading to the Vivian Beaumont Theatre
at Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts.

The plan was always to take as many Stratford company members as possible, and
Barry McGregor, James Blendick, Lucy Peacock, Domini Blythe and Benedict
Campbell (despite his defection to the Shaw Festival) were all part of the deal.

The two pivotal supporting roles of Edmund and Edgar, however, were up for
recasting. Tony Award-winner Brent Carver raised the show's excitement stakes
when it was announced he was playing Edgar.

And now the Star has learned that Geraint Wyn Davies will be joining the
company to play Edmund.

Wyn Davies was a company member in the late '80s, when his roles included
Pericles, D'Artagnan and Henry V.

Then Hollywood beckoned, and he had a decade-long stint as a TV and film star
(most notably as the hunky vampire on Forever Night).

He rejoined the company last summer as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady and was
rumoured to be returning in 2004, until Lear came along.

A great show just acquired the potential for even more greatness. Wouldn't it
be nice if we could see it here!

Here's what I heard about the pricing on the DVD. The place where I pre-ordered
explained that a set number of DVD's were marked to sell at the lower price.
So, as with Amazon, my place is honoring the pre-ordered price. The
representative also said that it is likely that because the response has been
good enough, the future dvd's will be lower than 79.95. Let's hope this is
accurate.

I was fortunate enough to see Brent Carver in Stratford in 1986 as Hamlet.
An amazing talent even then.

Ger announced it while in Wolfville. Plummer asked him to join the cast.

Previews begin in mid-February with an actual opening on March 4 at the Vivian
Beaumont Theater. Tickets are not yet on sale.

You can read the "hunky" article on the GWDFC site (http://www.gwdfc.org) as
well as a synopsis of Lear and/or download the text of the play so you can
