Hello, everyone!

I'm 38, married with 7 fuzzy children, 4 dogs and 3 cats, one of which
thinks it is a dog. Three of my dogs and all the cats are rescue
animals. The fourth dog is a 5 month old Jack Russell Terrier puppy who
is just starting her show career on the Jack Russell Terrier Association
circuit. All the animals are horribly spoiled (our king bed sleeps 2
people, 4 dogs, and at least one cat every night!). I hope in my next
life I come back as the pet of someone like me!

I'm the database architect for a small company who works on homeland
security projects. I also own a custom embroidery business called Husky
and Hound (http://www.huskyandhound.com), which I started with the
mission to make affordable shirts for folks who only want one or two,
rather than 50 or 100 and to help animal rescue organizations. For
example, I bought a couple of custom shirts at the mall a few years ago
and they were $40 each for a very simple stock design. I offer those
same shirts for $20 and I donate 10% of all sales to animal rescue
organizations! I also take Husky and Hound on the road to dog shows.

I love fishing and boating and most anything water related. We have a
house on the Intercoastal Waterway at the southern tip of the Outer
Banks in NC, and I split my time between there and home in the
_______ area. If anyone is visiting this way, let me know! The
water's great this time of year!

I've been an FK fan since the late 90s when I first saw an episode on
Sci Fi while I was home making lunch. After that, I started going home
for lunch every day! I've been to LCAs 2, 3, and 4. Missed 5 due to a
conflicting family event, and now it looks like I'm going to miss 6
because the Canadian National Jack Russell Trial is the same weekend.
I'll be an hour away from Toronto and won't be able to be there!

Take care!

I'm almost nearly fairly certain that this list was at one point discussing
trying to get Spike TV, the channel TNN is turning into, to carry FK. Well,
itseems director Spike Lee thinks rather highly of himself and has injoined the
company against using that name. The website's already been taken off line. I
found an article if anyone wants to read further

Hi, Gang ~

Okay, I'll delurk, too. Actually, this is the first time
I've been back to the list in several weeks - thanks to a
broken ankle, my life has been somewhat limited. {It's hard
to get the wheelchair close enough to really use the computer.}

We started watching Forever Knight during the old CBS days,
too. My beloved, twisted spouse, Jim, found the series first,
bless him. He's continued to encourage/support my FK and Ger
habits ever since. I've been a GWDFC member for 7 years. <grin>

I was a legal secretary & paralegal for 17+ years; then I developed
a neurological disease {RSD} in 1993 that ended my career. Because
RSD causes neuropathic pain, I'm always on a complicated medication
program. The side effects are sometimes interesting. Still waiting
to see if I grow antlers next. {It's _______ - anything could happen.}

I write fiction. I create board games for Ger to auction off at the
Gertherings. Doing that makes me feel like I still have something
worthwhile to contribute, even though my body's out of warranty.

I'm a rescuer, so our house is overrun with animals. More cats
than you can count. {Hey, I've mellowed with age; I used to rescue
people!  We had actors and musicians everywhere.}

Oh, and even though I haven't been posting much during the last few
months, I really do love this list. The people are great!

Let's try this again. I was half way through this letter when my computer
froze.

Somewhere out there in someones vault there is a program on vampires
which discuss FK. I saw it years ago shortly after the show was cancelled
and just before it turned up again in reruns. It was your standard
documentary on vampires with the usual stuff about the historic Dracula
etc.

I kept it on tape for a while but finally taped over it. I believe my
reasoning at the time was since the chances were I was never going to see
FK again why frustrate myself with tantalizing glimpses of what I had
missed. (I only saw the third season before it was cancelled.)

As I recalll FK came under the category of how the vampire has evolved
during the ages. Where once the Vampire was depicted as a hideous monster,
vampires in modern stories tend to be extremely attractive and
intelligent. They are often as not shown in a sympathetic light. Then it
went on to discuss Nick and LaCroix and showed scenes from the series.

I wish I could remember the name of the show but I don't. I have watched
other documentaries on vampires since hoping to accidentally stumble across
it again but as yet nothing. .

that's sounds typical of the way FK gets treated. I live in Toronto and FK
was cancelled on the Canadian network half way through the original run of
third season. Before that it was shifted around the week. sometimes it was
on at the 10:00 sometimes it was on twice a night at 7:00 and 8:00 when
ever they had a space left over to fill.

I sometimes wonder if Buffy and Angel would be as popular as they are if
their fans had had to work as hard as we FK fans did just to be able to
watch their show. We're really a dedicated bunch of people.

I don't think Buffy really had to work all that hard for a following. I have
started watching it recently, and kinda like it. I still think FK is a far
better show, but I can see the appeal of Buffy, it attracts exactly the
demographic that the network is looking for, that hip, pre-teen to early
twenties crowd that spends money indiscriminately on stupid stuff. Its funny
and rather light hearted. It doesnt seem to take itself seriously, Conversley,
FK is very serious, and appeals to more mature, and thoughtful audiences.
Unfortunately, even tho large in number, we are just not in the Chosen
demographic. I think tho, that if FK were made today, it would be a different
kind of show, given the post "will and grace" era, things that were hinted at
might be able to be explored more... shall we say... intimately.

Actually, Buffy and Angel haven't really be treated that well. Buffy was
cancelled by WB after season five, and was then by luck picked up by another
network. Angel has had several time changes in the 1 1/2 years I've been
watching it.

Plus, a lot of FK fans are also fans of those two shows ;-)

There's been write in campaigns to save Buffy and Angel, especially Angel for
next season.

I was lucky with FK, more or less. Since I didn't start watching until Season
3, it was in syndication and the station ran it at either 11 p.m. or midnight
on Saturdays (where I think it ran for season 2). The local station seemed
pretty loyal to it.

Actually, I have to beg to differ with that. I do know it has a pre-teen to
early twenties demographic, but most of the people I know that watch it are in
their 30s and older. The difference being that the pre-teens to early twenties
have not really been exposed to FK, where as all the folks I know in their
30s who watch it also watched Forever Knight.

They are two different shows though - totally. It is like comparing apples
and oranges. It was like trying to compare Star Trek to Star Wars - they both
take place in space. BtVS and ANGEL take place in a world of magic and demons,
and like you said, does NOT take itself too seriously. Forever Knight was more
grounded in "science." Even comparing ANGEL to FK isn't fair. Yes, Angel is
a detective - but he works in the world of the supernatural and is not trying
to be mortal again. Nick works in a world of more realistic detective work and
wants to be mortal again. In the BtVS universe, vampires are demons. In FK,
they are basically the people they were as mortals.

Many of you were uncertain about FK being released as a "whole"
season...well, it's finally been confirmed, along with an estimated release
date:

From tvshowsondvd:

"Columbia TriStar confirmed an expected release of the first season before
Halloween. Please note that this date is not set in stone and may move. When
we have an exact date we'll let you know."

Great news huh? If you guys have time, please also thank Columbia Tristar
for the DVDs and go ahead and tell them what kind of extras you'd like to
see (bloopers, deleted scenes, etc):

I'm on a Buffy list for Dorothy Dunnett fans (a writer of a series of
historical novels) that is mainly populated by academics in their 40s
and 50s. You wouldn't believe the discussions! And there have been
academic conferences that centered on Buffy? The later seasons were
much less fluffy than the first.

> Its funny and rather

Yeah, a lot of the time, but there have been episodes that ripped your
heart out. For instance, when Buffy's mom died. And then there was
"Hush," which was almost totally silent. Amazingly good work.

Buffy seemed to be mostly about the hell that is growing up and
becoming adult. FK explored different issues.

True.

And that would just be Wrong. <g> I'd rather have that sort of stuff
hinted at and not shown in graphic detail, thankyewverymuch.

okay I got a random question, well more like, I was
talking to a chat room about forever knight and
menchined that nicky had a few remotes (curtains,
fireplace, and others too I am sure)

at any time, was there a fic or something written
about him losing the remotes? do you think he would
missplace them?

I mean, really, I sometimes find our tv remote in the
frigde.... so yeah... that is my random question.

Greetings,

I added a new banner to my site to promote the FK Season 1 DVD Boxset coming
out near Halloween. Those of you with websites, please help spread the word
with this banner. We want the sells to be so good that we'll get a season 2
boxset next year and so on.

You can find the banner on my main index and "Save the Knight" section. I
will be updating it with an "exact" release date when that's confirmed.
