I didn't realize that there were special guidelines
for V4S stories. Maybe that's why they are so slow in
coming out.

V4S left a lot of things hanging. Like if Thomas
knows about Nick, and the Nat/Thomas relationship,
etc. I would really like to read more of these
stories. I really like the new characters (Adam) and
situations.

Yes, it isn't like "regular" fanfic where you just write a story, have it
betaed, and then it is posted.

First, you had to "pitch" the story anonymously to the V4S people at large.
It was debated - and sometimes cruely ;-) - then voted on. If it was turned
down, you could re-write it and resubmit it. If it was accepted, it went into
a pool of available stories. There's smaller "main" V4S committee, you might
say TPTB of the V4S, who'd then discuss which stories to "develope," where
they should be placed in the "season," etc.

Once a writer is told a story needs to be written, the writer submits a
THOROUGH outline of each scene. That outline is then discussed and torn apart
by TV4SPTB and the writer is informed of any changes that must be made. Then
the writing begins. The story, once written, is submitted to Alpha readers
who rip it to shreads. The writer rewrites it to those specifications until
TV4SPTB accept it. Then it is beta read, and the writer must then rewrite to
correct the beta problems. Only this is it posted.

Yes, it is ROUGH and the writer never gets to write the story he or she
originally invisioned. Some writers hate it... I happen to like it even when
told to make changes I don't agree with as that is a challenge in and of
itself.

Oh, and all the above is normally done under deadlines.

Maybe that is why its been so long since the last
story. But, I do hope they start it up again soon. I

This post contains SPOILERS for HYPERCUBE: CUBE 2.
Please DO NOT CONTINUE if you have not yet seen
HYPERCUBE.

I watched HYPERCUBE on Sci-Fi again last night. On
the whole, I liked it. Of course, Ger was great.
But, as I was thinking about it, I came up with some
problems.

SPOILERS below

SPOILERS below

SPOILERS below

1.- When Ger comes back older near the end. All they
did was put grey in his hair and beard. His hair and
beard didn't grow. Did he find a barber in the cube?

2.- The big ending with the watch was a problem. If
the cube has all this time distortion, etc., why
would all the watchs be keeping the same time, which
is presumably
the current time outside the cube?

I was looking through a book catalogue last night and
came across, "The World Atlas of Archeology" by Nick
Constable. I immediately thought that would be a
great name for Nick to use. After all, he had been a
police officer a few times. And with his love of
Archeology, maybe he did write it.

Yes, he was. I'm not sure I liked the movie. I really DIDN'T like the end.

>1.- When Ger comes back older near the end. All they

Time distortion. He was older, but it all happened in one minute, so
his hair didn't grow. Just before all that we saw the time was 6:05.
I couldn't understand why he kept saying he was hungry and then
killing everyone in a very bloody way. Was this alluding to his
several "vampire" roles?

>2.- If the cube has all this time distortion, etc., why
>would all the watchs be keeping the same time, which

Why not? The watches were all inside the cube, so all the time
distortion would be acting on all of them. There was no way of
knowing about the time outside of the cube. It could have been days
to years later. But somehow, they knew when the cube was going to
implode in order to be there when it did. I don't believe all those
people would just be standing around in the building (?) where the
cube was just waiting for it to destroy itself on the off chance that
someone would survive.
And what was the necklace thingy all about? That must have been an
allusion to the first Hypercube. Did anyone see that to let us know?

Subject: Another music question

I've established that Mr. Wyn Davies does indeed play the piano, and
very well, at that.

Now I've been wondering about Mr Bennett. Does he play a
violin/viola/rebec, or did he learn for the part, or did they dub in
someone else playing, or something else entirely?

Also, Mr. Bass. He was occasionally playing the guitar. Does he play,
did he learn for the part, or was that dubbed in as well?

I've been told that guitar is somewhat easily picked up. But I KNOW
that a violin/viola is NOT, and would expect a rebec to be equally as
difficult. (I tried to play 'cello for 5 years in my earlier years.
The entire city of Charleston was thrilled when I finally talked my
mother into letting me quit.)

I don't really know quite why I'm being so nosey about this...but
while I'm at it, does any of the other cast play any musical
instruments?

I believe I remember seeing a picture of him playing guitar with a band he
was in.

Deb Duchene is an accomplished pianist and I seem to recall that after she
left FK she was teaching music for a while.

Greg Kramer plays the piano professionally. He occasionally serves as the
accompanist for musical theater. If I recall, he really loves jazz improv.

< Time distortion. He was older, but it all happened

Yes, I understand the time distortion, I know she had
just poked him in the eye. But, his eye was healed
and he was grey. If he had time to go grey, he had
time for his hair and beard to grow. And, he was
older and she wasn't. For her, it had only been a
minute, while it was a whole lot later for him.

< I couldn't understand why he kept saying he was
hungry and then killing everyone in a very bloody way.
Was this alluding to his several "vampire" roles? >

The blind girl did mention she was thristy. I think
they wanted to show that time was passing and they
were in the cube for a long time. I think they just
wanted someone to snap and go insane and it got to be
Ger.

< The watches were all inside the cube, so all the
time distortion would be acting on all of them. There
was no way of knowing about the time outside of the
cube.... But somehow, they knew when the cube was
going to implode in order to be there when it did.>

But, that's just my point. The watches were keeping
the time that was outside the cube. That's why the
people were there waiting. I think the watches should
have been affected by what was going on in the cube,
so on one would have know it was 6:00 or any other
time. And inside the cube, how many 6:06's would have
come and gone in the time they were in there.

< And what was the necklace thingy all about?>

I don't know about that. Why did she remember that
all of a sudden? She had been with that girl for a
long time and could have noticed it at any time.
Granted, I didn't notice it the first time, cause I
didn't know it would be important. Let's face it, the
story has some major plot holes. Also, it had been
cut for TV. I'm waiting for my uncut video and DVD to
arrive. It may fill in some holes. I still think it
was an interesting movie. Especially on human
behavior.

< ...an allusion to the first Hypercube. Did anyone
see that to let us know?>

I saw the original CUBE. It was different. The rooms
moved as well as the people. It was like a rubic
cube. Each room was a different color and had a
different trap, like acid, or knives, etc. Maurice
Dean Wint (FK's "Francesca" & ROBOCOP:PD) was in it.
And I think Nicole de Boer (FK's "Dark Knight 1/2) was
also in it. There was no necklace thing in it. The
only reference to the first one was when Phillip Akin
said something like, "Phase two is complete".
