In "A MOre Permanent Hell," didn't LaCroix mention what the lack of food
would do? That the younger vampires would parish, but the older ones would
linger on but what sort of life would that be? To me, that means that
although he *sees* himself as much too old and powerful to die, younger
vampires can starve to death.

As for Divia, I've always taken it that she was "much too much an evil brat"
to die." hahaha. Or perhaps she went into some sort of coma which allowed her
to conserve her life.

This weekend has been filled w/ opportunities for me to be reminded of
FK warfic. First, someone made a comment to me that my skin was
'cottony soft' (and had no idea why I would find that hilarious). Then
I had a chance to handle a .45 this morning. What make? Why, it was a

The museum used in NICK KNIGHT is the Los Angeles
County Museum of Natural History. I used to work
there (before the movie was made). They filmed right
outside my former office. If you look real close, you
can even see my former office door in one of the
shots.

Yes, there is no justice in the world---or good taste. Tracker was
pretty lame. But I bet going to DVD was in the plan right from the

Actualy, I thought Tracker was great. The only reason
there's no justice is that it went off the air just as
it was getting good. I'm actually working on a
crossover fic or two but keep hitting brick walls or
having to listen to the muse and tear them apart.

But there's still complaints about the DVD...that was
supposed to be all the eps, not just some. But I do
hope they get FK out on DVD.....and that I can get a
DVD player sometime soon.....then I could get all the
little extras. Video is beginning to look less
appealing just for that reason.

OK, I know, I know....I probably went slightly OT lol.

Kewl, Thats such fun. A movie called For my Daughters Honor was made in the
High school I work in. They used my class room for the Science room. I can
be seen rather breifly in the foot ball scenes.

Oh forgot to mention In Nick Knight Janette was weird. She was kind of scary
and not sexy at all. In FK Deborah oozes sexuality as Janette. She was a
much inporved character and last but not least Nigel made LaCroix an amazing
character.

OK, tried to post this before but had some trouble - now I can't remember
exactly what I said, but it was after something McLisa said about the
vampires LaCroix had brought across and Jack the Ripper being an accident. I
was wondering about the exact rules for bringing across in the FK universe.
I was under the impression that blood had to be exchanged. I know it's
important not to take to much, something LaCroix is always telling Nick. How
could Jack the Ripper be an accident - I'm sure LaCroix didn't give him any
blood. If it was just a case of not taking too much wouldn't there be more
vampire 'accidents' out there?
Hmm remembering someting else now, when Nick had a dog (Raleigh?) and
LaCroix took it to the carouche, he told it not to take it all so the dog
would come back. Maybe I've got the blood exchange thing in my head from
other vampire fiction?
   Lurking once more to ponder...

Subject: Re: Bringing across

Okay, here is my impression of the rules; there are two versions, one
for true vampires, and another for carouches.

VAMPS have to drain *most* of the victim's blood, but not enough to kill
them totally. Then, when the victim is dying, they have to drink some
vampire blood. If a newly-created vampire drinks human blood for the
"First Hunger", then they will be a "true" vampire, thirsting ever after
for human blood, and taking animal blood only in desperate
circumstances. However, if a newly-created vampire takes animal blood
instead, then they will thirst for that kind of animal ever after (in
the case of Screed, rats), but will also be capable of taking any other
species' blood, including humans.

CAROUCHES do not need to give the victim any of their blood to bring
them across; they just have to make sure to drain them until they're
totally dead ("lick the plate clean") or else the victim will live on as
a carouche. But this is very ambiguous, since there are both human and
animal carouches. If an animal was only partially drained by a vampire,
would it live on as an animal carouche? Or are animals safe from
vampirism inflicted by "true" vampires who fail to "lick their plates
clean"?

Okay, here is my impression of the rules; there are two versions, one
for true vampires, and another for carouches. Of course, there are many
examples of FK breaking or bending these rules (Alyce Hunter in DK,
Elizabeth in IWR), but they have been explicitly stated in various
episodes.

VAMPIRES have to drain *most* of the victim's blood, but not enough to
kill them totally (Fatal Mistake, Dead of Night). Then, when the victim
is dying, they have to drink some vampire blood (hence the need to not
kill them completely; corpses can't swallow). They will then awaken to
their new un-life as a vampire with a powerful hunger; they will take
anyone/anything to satisfy this, "wife, husband, child, lover"(?)
(Fever). If a newly-created vampire drinks human blood for the "First
Hunger", then they will be a "true" vampire, thirsting ever after for
human blood, and taking animal blood only in desperate circumstances.
However, if a newly-created vampire takes animal blood instead, then
they will thirst for that kind of animal ever after (Blind Faith?), but
will also be capable of taking any other species' blood, including
humans.

CAROUCHES do not need to give the victim any of their blood to bring
them across; they just have to make sure to drain them until they're
totally dead ("lick the plate clean"--Blind Faith) or else the victim
will live on as a carouche. But this is very ambiguous, since there are
both human and animal carouches. If an animal was only partially drained
by a vampire, would it live on as an animal carouche? Or are animals
safe from vampirism inflicted by "true" vampires who fail to "lick their
plates clean"? Can a carouche create a "true" vampire, or are they only
capable of creating another carouche?

I was under the impression that blood had to be exchanged.

And snice they do show nick taking from LaCroix that could still be assumed, but
then again, how could there be "accidents" then?

I know it's important not to take to much, <snip> If it was just a case of not

Yes, That is said many times, but also, Take in mind that they have had it where
they would meet with someone, or keep someone, to feed off regularly, for a
time.. now if they did that, and it was simply, bite, drink, leave some in them,
then why didn't those "walking blood banks" come over after the first night? (I
forget what eps I am taking from, been too long snice I watched them...)

Well that is my .0000000002 cents.

However, when Nick brings Nat's brother Richard across, Nick does not give
him any blood. Nick drinks from Richard, the EKG goes flatline, then we
see a single 'blip' after a moment and Nick indicates that Richard has been
brought across.

Another difference I noted is that when LC brings Nick across, there is an
almost immediate return to consciousness for Nick. In the Nick/Richard
case, Richard stays unconscious long enough to be taken to Nick's loft,
placed in bed there and for Nat's sister-in-law, Sarah, before Richard
regains consciousness.

Also Jack the Ripper was brought across because LC almost drained him
completely and didn't insure that he was dead, due to the 'poisonous'
effects of Jack's blood. That was the reason that LC wanted Nick to go to
where he'd left Jack, to insure that he was dead and wouldn't continue as a
vampire rather than a mortal.

Just my two cents,

Its just my own little theory ... but in the case of Jack the Ripper ...
Being so evil, if someone attacked him, bit him, he might be inclined to bite
back, or at the very least fight for his life. If he had a knife on him, (as
a barber or the ripper might) perhaps he slashed Lacroix and drew his blood.
