Okay, Kyer is confused. She's been gone a long while. She's out of touch.
But wasn't KnightShift the group who wanted to see more of Nicholas and

I play computer games, but normally in the fantasy genre like Baldur's
Gate, Morrowind Scrolls, Might & Magic, etc. That being said, the only
vampire role-playing game I know of that's currently on the PC market
is Vampire: The Masquerade. The main character has a lot in common
with Nick, having fought in the crusades and was reluctant to be
brought across/embraced/whatever term you want to use. The adventure
spans the centuries, from medieval Europe to modern-day London and New
York, ending with a plot by a rogue vampire clan to destroy the world
on New Year's eve, 1999.

As a RPGamer, the first thing I look for in a game is plot. Is it
cliche'd or are there interesting twists and turns along the way,
which can be determined from magazine reviews before you buy the game.
I also look for good graphics, but ones that won't hijack my computer
and crash it. I don't care about sound that much, as long as it's not
annoying. An excellent soundtrack is a plus for me, but not absolutely
necessary if everything else is good.

As for quests, I'd like to see something that combines the Joan of Arc
legend with the story. If it's going to be a quest for the cure for
Nick, maybe it could take him to some exotic locations where he's
looking for unusual artifacts or people to talk to or something along
those lines. A simple murder case might be the original premise, but
it could then lead to a deeper plot of intrigue.

I also look for open-ended storylines, one where you don't have to do
specifically what the game tells you. For example, if you want to hang
out in the Raven for a while and talk to the customers, you should be
able to...but it should also be realistic, i.e. if you annoy a vampire
there for long enough, you might become his or her snack (unless you're
playing a vampire, in which case the other vampire might start a bar
fight instead). Morrowind Scrolls III is a good example of an
open-ended game, where you can just explore the world if you want to.

Also, something else to consider: are vampires at higher levels in the
game likely to have special powers that we didn't see in the FK series,
such as shapeshifting or magical abilites, or is the main character not
going to have a chance to gain power?

The biggest selling point for me would be "good guy" vampires. In all the
vampire games I've found they're always bad guys.

If you're looking for sucess on a computer game, look at what already scores.
My fav computer game is V:tM for a couple of reasons: it has an interesting and
engaging plot, but plenty of action, too. Every level is different and has it's
own difficulties and rewards. What works on one doesn't necessarily work on
another. There are lots of cool toys and skills to pick from, so you can decide
how you want to play your character.

If you were going to do something with FK, you'd need to start with a cohesive
plot-- that's the hard part. Something grandiose enough to be exciting. Maybe
like some mad, genius vampire tearing through the city and Nick not only has to
find him, but he has to keep the mortals from figuring out what's really going
on. Of course, Natalie would help with that. (The bit about keeping the
mortals from finding out doesn't have to be a problem the player solves-- just
part of the plot to keep things interesting.) The problem is, making the game
flexible without having so many possibilities that you need 3-4 CDs to handle
the whole thing. (Those old Sierra 'Quest for Glory' games were pretty good,
for their time.) I like a nice, continuous plot with plenty of action and
plenty of story. Oh, the other thing. V:tM is LONG!!! So you can go right
back to the beginning and start again without being bored.

I think I remember reading this was a hoax, that the file does exist
*normally* on computers. I suggest doing a search on it at a site like
symantec if you know the addy or do a search engine search. Good luck and
please forgive, List Mommy. I know the pain of panic a virus can cause.

Does anyone know how to join the Nigel Bennent fan club? I''ve got two
different addresses and they're in two different states. I've tried Black Hat
Station and I haven't heard back. It's been a couple of days. Well, bye for

That's the way to join. Just give them a few more days, things get pretty
busy sometimes and RL (real life) does too :) Hope that helps.

I don't know what the two addresses are that she has, but Star used to be
the pres of the club and stepped down for health reasons, she was based in CA.

The correct address for snail mail for the FC is:
The Nigel Bennett Network
P.O. Box 14
Rossford, Ohio 43460
USA

Jayne L'Argent is the pres of Nigel's FC.

Hope that helps,

Hey, that's what I was thinking too: start the game as Schanke, and
solve the first murder case as him; for the second case, you play Nat;
and for the last one, you can be Nick. Each case also gives a clue to
Nick's cure, but it will be a touch-and-go thing as to whether he
actually can get all the bits of his cure together before LaCroix stops
him.

I think you should be able to switch back and forth between characters in
some parts of the game. I know in Resident Evil and games like that, you
switch back and forth when you need to, like when health is low. Just an
idea.
