Those of you with HBO, check the listings for a movie called "Invasion!" It is
an incredibly, deliberatly awful movie, starring, among others, our beloved
Nigel Bennett. I highly recommend getting some friends and a big bowl of
popcorn to watch this movie.

Mary, it sounds like "Invasion!" is the US title for a Canadian film called
"Top of the Food Chain," released back in April 2000. This is the movie where
the Tall Cool One plays a flesh-eating alien posing as a door-to-door
salesman. According to the article in Sci-Fi Magazine, in one scene there's
an animatronic head that gives the effect of his skull detaching from the
muscles and turning *inside the skin.* <insert creepy music here>

I've heard the movie pokes fun at the B-type 50's science fiction thriller
without mercy, and is great fun. And as you can imagine from the above, the
FX ain't too bad either. I've always wanted to see this flick ever since I
read the article in Sci-Fi Mag. Too bad my budget only handles basic cable...

Any chance someone could tape this for me? We don't get HBO.

I agree, definitely check this movie out! But a safety warning needs to go
with the popcorn...the movie is *hysterical* (I think), making the popcorn a
serious choking hazard! ;-)

I am watching Autopsy 8 on HBO. It is a documentary forensics show
about how autopsies and such have solved crimes.
The first section of the show was about a couple that committed
murders together around 1990 in the suburbs of Toronto. It was
introduced and narrated by the chief Coroner of Ontario (forget the
name) and they kept mentioning the Metro police.
All I kept thinking of was whether this was Nick's case or not, or if
Nat did the autopsy. In one of the news footages of the people being
arrested, one of the detectives was wearing a black suit and had
blondish hair....but I didn't see the face.

Ok, I have been up way too long today. Time to go to bed. :)

Hmn...I'll have to look. A good place for finding
schedules is http://www.tv-now.com

Just type the actor's name in the search box and the
schedule will pop up, if there is one.

Our digital cable service gets confusing...out here,
HBO can mean HBO family, HBO East, there's an HBO west
which we don't get....eesh, too many LOL. It's that
way with all the movie channels.

1. If vampires aren't supposed to feel pain (except
for that psychological pain Nick feels) why did
LaCroix feel the pain of the fire? Because it's one of
the things that can kill them?

2. In Undue Process, why did Nick make that tape, then
destroy it? Because of the way he obtained it, the
hypnosis thing?

3. In False Witness, Thursday's ep, wouldn't they have
noticed that broken window when Nick said that was
already open? And I can't remember clearly what kind
of ground he was running over, but might he leave at
least a few footprints if he were running? And
fingerprints on the door? Kinda hard to seperate them
from the many many others on there but maybe...

4. What's the consensus on Human Factor....did Nick
bring Janette back over or did the trauma of the fire
reverse what the trauma of the shooting did, ie
turning her back into a vampire? I always thought the
latter, but could see both ways.

Comment: I didn't see all of the Shadow because it
wasn't that good, but I did see John Kapelos' part in
the beginning, and he was funny, but I like Schanke
better.

...you find yourself coming up with silly song
parodies. I'm a big oldies fan and for some reason I
started getting them in my head. Mostly for Nick but a
few of the others...

"Why must I be a vampire in love?"(Teenager in love)
"I fought LaCroix and LaCroix won (I fought the law
and the law one)
This one's a little iffy..."Devil with the lab coat
on..." OK, maybe, maybe I should throw *that* one out)

Schanke: He'll have fun, fun, fun 'till his partner
takes the Caddy away"

LaCroix: Instead of "I want to hold your hand", "I
want to bite your neck"
This one could go along with LK, maybe. "Hit the road
Nick" (Hit the road Jack)

Probably just clues that I have too much time on my
hands that I could better use for fic writing.

2. You see an article about "PolkaPalooza" and
immediately think of Schanke. Then he could go to the
Polish Deli that's in a town not far from here and get
a nice big souvlaki.

3.Jeopardy has a question about the CN tower being the
last thing standing in an earthquake and you think
of...argh I forgot the ep...the one with the lady
vampire, the XYY guy and the old myth about 'higher
than high' and making out on said tower.

--- Argh, forgot one.

You see an ad for the TV show cops showing that part
of it is going to show a disturbing the peace violater
who thinks she's a vampire and immediately think
either 'She's got the wrong show' or 'Somebody get
Nick out there' I can just see her saying to him 'I'm
a Vampire!!' and him, if no one's going to see him,
vamping out, and then she's sayinng 'the officer's a
vampire!' I gotta watch that one tonight.

I know this has been asked and answered before, but
for the life of me, I can't remember. Which of the
crusades did our medieval history buffs onlist decide
that Nick would most likely have taken part in?

Would go great with "My Boyfriend Is a Vampire"
to, sung to Nick by Natalie.

For the scenario that Erica saw in his blood to make sense, at the very
latest Nick would have to have arrived by August 1221, in time for the
Muslim retaking of Dalmietta. This is stretching it, however, and I think
that it makes more sense (and symmetry) to have him go out in 1218,
experience both a great victory (in 1218) and a terrible defeat, and then
wait with everyone else for Frederick II's supposedly imminent arrival with
a great army. (There were well-established Christian holdings in the East,
and some Christian knights stayed on quite happily. If you had the financial
resources, and didn't mind the hot weather, life could be very pleasant
compared to what was waiting at home.) Frederick didn't get his act together
until 1228, was excommunicated for his procrastination, and basically "won"
Jerusalem by an advantageous marriage and diplomacy.

That span of three years or so from 1218 to 1221 has been labeled the "Fifth
Crusade" by many historians. (Others stop counting after the Fourth.) But
neither Nick nor anyone else in his time would have perceived it that way.

If you'd run into the mortal Nick in the east and asked him "When did this
crusade start?" he might have observed that the crusades had been going on
for almost 160 years, or pointed out that Pope Innocent had preached a
renewed effort in 1213--or he might have told you the day he left Wales or
the date he set sail from Venice, marking the beginning of his own crusade.
