It was a gift--along with a nice cheese platter. :-) He had it for a few
episodes in the first season. It can take a while to kill a cactus.

(It's surprising how many detectives end up with little "souvenirs" of

It's more than a little anachronistic if you know a bit about 18C dolls.
However, a correct doll might be too small to "work" on TV.

2) Stonetree says that the scorpion story is a legend "just like
vampires", but most of us agree that he believes in vampires, he
just doesn't want Schanke to believe in them. So I was wondering,
does that mean that the scorpion story is true?

My answer to that is the same as my answer to most supernatural/superstitious
beliefs:  Probably not, but *I*'m not going to be the one to try it!
