Hey all --

Just a reminder that John Woo's ONCE A THIEF *finally* begins airing in the
U.S. this week.

It's a great show -- smart, funny, action-packed....

Our very own Greg Kramer has an recurring role as Mr. Murphy, one of The
Agency's cleaners. And, both Nigel Bennett and John Kapelos make memorable
guest appearances, as does the Caddie!

How'd I get my rep? By writing way too many Tracy fics and pairing her
with everyone I could think of who wasn't Vachon (lots of Lacroix,
Miklos, yes, Screed, also Nick, an Enforcer, Bourbon...) Which led to
the fic "Cousin Mary Must Die!" in which Vachon and others try to off me
all due to my less than stellar rep <eg>

Then there's the webpage, games, comics and being the Godmommy of the
Dark Perk Mafia (and if being a Dark Perk doesn't get you a rep, ain't
nothin' will ;-)

Plus in "The DP Throw a Party" I -did- try to get Robocop to shoot
Nick... and Lacroix and Aries were killed by someone from 'Touched by an
Angel'... and Vachon ran around nekkid a lot... That might have added
to my rep as well... <eg>

Well, first off I think he went for it because it's a nice abandoned
building and he's to lazy to get a job and pay rent <eDPg> But as to
why the Church, I think he gets a kick out of it. A little blasphemous
fun for kids of all ages. Plus I've always thought that Vachon was never
a particularly good Catholic so wasn't bothered by Church paraphernalia
the way Nick was. And IMO the stuff bothered Lacroix since the Crusades
and Inquisition left a big impression on him.

>Does Tracy ever find out Nick's secret?

Alas, on the show Tracy doesn't know Nick's a vamp until she's already
been shot in 'Last Knight.' (In fanfics however...) But in Tracy's
defence the only vamps she knows don't have jobs and don't seem to be
-able- to have jobs. Plus I've always thought that picture of Schanke
and Nick out in the sun (from 'the Cure'?) might be floating around the
precint somewhere, either on a wall or even Nick's desk.

Is anyone ready for another round of "What's your favorite season?"

Mine is second season. I could come up with all sorts of reasons, like, I
like the cast combination in that season. I like Schanke and Janette, and
I also like having LaCroix back in the present.

But, I realized recently that the plain, simple truth has to do with the
amount of angst. Season one doesn't have quite enough angst for me; season
three has a bit too much angst; but season two is just right.

Bring 'em back alive!

SIGH. <g> Poor Vachon, ever misunderstood. It's true that the character was
originally envisioned as a scummy, lowlife sort--I seem to recall that the
only "character background" Ben Bass was ever given was something along the
lines of "He just crawled out of a dumpster after smoking 800
cigarettes"--but as expanded by FK's more perceptive writers (such as
Gillian) and by Ben's sensual portrayal, Vachon is actually a vampire of
tremendous depth. And he is NOT LAZY, thank you! What Vachon resists,
rather determinedly, is allowing other people to make choices for him. When
he chooses a plan of action on his own, such as joining the Missisauga in
their battles with the English, or nursing his dying friend and then
following that friend's express burial wishes, he follows through with
energy and purpose. Anyone who has ever dug a big enough hole to plant a
5-gallon tree knows what a chore that is; imagine the effort required to
dig a grave, by yourself. LaCroix would pay someone else to do it--*that*
is the lazy approach, if you ask me.

>Plus I've always thought that Vachon was never
>a particularly good Catholic so wasn't bothered by Church paraphernalia
>the way Nick was.

Actually, I've always believed that the reason Vachon had so little trouble
with "symbols of redemption" is that he is, in many ways, *more* spiritual
than most other FK vampires. He was almost certainly raised Catholic, but
he accepted, without judgment or awkwardness, that the woman who brought
him across worshipped the sun. He was perfectly comfortable with the ways
of the Native Americans with whom he lived, even though indiginous peoples
tended to recognize many gods and godlike personas in their daily lives. I
also think that Vachon, unlike *any* other FK vamp I can think of with the
possible exception of Screed, lives absolutely and utterly without guilt.
He *has* no demons to haunt his dreams: no murdered children, like LaCroix;
no betrayals, like Janette; certainly no desire to reverse his vampirism,
like Nick.

Yes, I'm a devoted Vaq--why do you ask? ;-)

Ooohhh, speaking of FK dreams, I had one the other night where I was saved
by LaCroix when I was being mugged in an abandoned warehouse in Toronto. I
have never been to Toronto, but I was there. Anyhoo, I became a very
dedicated cousin after that. Funny thing is, I never though of myself as a
cousin before this.

Anybody thinks this means I should be a full time cousin. Ever since I've
liked LaCroix a whole lot more...Still wondering whee that dream came
from...

Lucky!!!!

Dreams are funny things. Sometimes you just never know were they come
from.

Although, I think most of us have avid Day-Dreams about Nick and LaCroix.

I have to agree that I like having LaCroix back in the present in the second
season. I liked the historical flashbacks that he popped up in in the first
season, but IMO it was nicer having him right there in the present.

I do have a soft spot for the first season, though. I really like Stonetree
-- just his general relaxed attitude -- and the first season is the season I
started watching to begin with.

The third season just does nothing for me... Vachon is some nice eye candy,
and Screed is funny, but the whole season is, like you said, too angsty for
me. Of course, LK doesn't help that season along either. ;-)

The freight elevator, of course! Although one chap in my city got his
motorcycle onto his 3rd-storey apartment balcony with the help of one of
those small cranes you can rent (someone he knew had access to one).

I always attributed it to mood. Yellow, hungry but in control. Red,really
really angry/hungry and out of control.

The fanfic explanation is that the greenish-gold is sort of first-stage vamp
anger/hunger, and red is Watch Out! Really, really angry vampire!

They're color-coded! <g>
