Anchor Bay Entertainment indicated to me that they were going to try and
get Forever Knight... but that was a year ago (of course, they had intended
to release Nick Knight on dvd last December, and it was held up for some
"reason out of their control", and will release next year, I guess...)

Now that it has been a few years since the original cast parted ways, what
are peoples thoughts about a new cast? or spin off of Forever Knight?

I for one would like to see a NEW series brought up to the standard of say
Angel and Buffy on the engineering side of things.
I think the basic plot and characters are all worth redeveloping in some
form. Cameos for old cast maybe?
Lacroix popping in now and then?

Thoughts. Ideas?

Hello all;

I don't answer often, but this is interesting. A new series could be built
around Miklos and the patrons at a bar in some anonymous city. Could be
anywhere in the world... should be anywhere in the world, even if it is shot
in Canada or New Zealand (land of Xena, international hit) That way, anyone
from anywhere and any when can show up.

But, I've also be particular to Joe Reese. He was very underused. Any
thoughts there.

I don't particularly want a new series, but how about Nick, turned mortal
and living with Natalie, having to constantly deal with members of the

It's the same way with me. I can tell if a tv is on and muted orthe sound
down, and I can tell when a video camera is running. It's really
interesting, especially when nobody else around you can hear it and has to
rely on their other senses like sight to know if something like that is
turned on. I like it because it annoys my family. They still insist that I
can see and have been pretending to be blind for 20 years. LOL!

How about Nick being back with LaCroix and Janette and
the series chronicling their adventures through the night
and throughout the world? Call me diehard Dark Trinity or
something.

On another note, if I were to vote for a new series, I'd
say yes to a new cast, but no to new characters. I like
my FK to be about Nick and LaCroix and Janette and all
that. Anything else would be like any other vampire show,
right?

Hi, All---

I'm sure you're all busy reading the finalists in the 2001 FK Fanfic Awards!
Remember, voting is now open and will remain open until June 12.

This note is to let you know that I will be out of town from the 16th to the
20th on a short visit to Tucson. Any concerns you may have about the awards will
be answered when I return, but for the duration I'll probably be out of touch
(unless my friend lets me use her computer).

Thanks for all your support, Nancy

I just received Nick Knight on DVD about a month ago. It's out there,
ya just gotta follow the FAQ thingy that was posted here some time
ago to order it.

And, I must say that the music in Nick Knight is horrible.

Hi everybody!

<<Now that it has been a few years since the original cast parted ways, what
are peoples thoughts about a new cast? or spin off of Forever Knight>>

Well, I've honestly got to say that I could live with a spin-off better than
I could live with a new cast, I think. Watching other people play these
characters would be a little weird for me . . . I keep thinking "so-and-so"
could do a better job acting that than this person . . . as for a spin-off .
. . I liked Sunny's idea about Nick being back with LaCroix and Janette and
the whole adventure chronicling thing . . . actually, I'd also like the idea
of going back to before the time of Forever Knight and looking at their
adventures then (I'm sure that there's a lot we didn't get to see) . . . i
think a new cast for that wouldn't be as painful . . . as for a series not
involving any of the old cast . . . well, that could be about anyone
couldn't it, but we'd have to see how they tied into the old cast . . . I
don't know . . . I'd like to see more about LaCroix and his interaction with
other characters but then that could just be because I'm a cousin and
everything . . . and now I'm just rambling, and i should really get working
on my book . . . later everyone!

Do it like they did Star Trek.
New Cast, new situation in the details. Keep the same basic
world for the characters to play in.
I wouldn't try to remake FK. The original cast can't be
assembled (my opinion) and I wouldn't want someone else in those
roles anyway.
If you kept the same story-telling concept of flashbacks, there
is no reason that every member of the original casts couldn't do guest
appearances in a new program called Eternal Night.
I think a television show would only be made if there were
some conceptual changes. I don't think a vampire cop living in LA is a
good idea. The concept has already been used enough.
I would shift things around to take advantage of the changes in
episodic television the last few years.
Create a definitive story arc that traces a central vampire
character across 3-5 years of their life. One idea would be to start the
title character as a willing vampire. Then have something cause them
to start seeking redemption, then follow them as they search for the
light.
        The key is story.
Television studios are comprehending that people will return to
a show time and again to be engaged by the story.
If you got the right person driving the thing, you could have a
show with the same fanatical following as X-Files, Babylon 5, 24.....

The actors were all great, and I really can't conceive of anyone else playing
Don Schanke, but the *characters* are just so...darn intriguing! I think, with
a lot of luck and brillance, a new series could explore the old characters and
give us something worth watching. But it would take a *lot* of luck.... sigh.

I guess what most attracts me to FK is the concept of this *800* year old guy
struggling with these overwhelming issues *and* with the day to day issues with
which we all struggle. And how he is the core of all of these fascinating,
complex relationships: L/N/J, L/N/N, L/N, N/J, N/N, J/N/N, S/N/N, N/T/V, ad
infinitum! And though I used the "slash," I don't really mean to imply just
sexual connections -- I just don't see Nick and Schanke that way! "g" Take the
UF, which doesn't just focus on a potential sexual relationship between two of
the main male characters; there is all the fascination entailed in a tangled
bond between two guys who have known each other for *800* years! The
master/vassal ties, the father/son ties, the teacher/protege' ties, the bonds of
friendship AND emnity, and so much more to boggle the mind. Nick's background
and moral complexity are the catalysts for so much of the conflict and the
exploration of the series. And, again("g"), *800* years of history to explore!
Pretty cool. Rick's Nick's 400 years(?) just seems to pall next to that. "g"

So, we could have another series in the FKverse, but would we find any other
characters so addictive, so fascinating, so....*satisfying?* Joe Schmoe, the
Irish guy brought across during the Potato Famine who now works as a fireman;
Jenny Penny, the Arabian courtesan who's now runs a home for troubled teens;
Dark ol' Ivor, who used to rule the Russian steppes, who now runs a cut-throat
corporate conglomerate -- and they all hang out at bar named "The Crimson
Cavalier," where everyone knows almost all of their names?

I just don't know.

All,

So I am watching Tank Girl and Malcolm McDowell is wearing these VESTS that
reminded me oddly of Nick's infamous 2nd season vests. So I checked the year
the movie was made - you guessed it: 1995!
Somebody else thought long vests were totally hep and high style that year,
too. A trend that clearly appeared suddenly and disappeared all in one year.

I'd bet that when StarTrek: Next Generation aired, there were a lot of
people who "didn' know" either.

        "What? No Vulcans?"
"And where is Bones? He made the whole show!"
"My God! The Captain is Bald! And British! And doesn't carry a
phaser slung down low where he can reach it quick!"
"And What Quichee eater put a Counseler next to the Captain? Is this
Star Trek or a Therapy session!"

I know the folks on this forum would give anything carrying the Forever
Knight flag forward a fair chance - you are all a very adaptable bunch with a
lot of open minds.
I believe a show can be written that is as entertaining and has many of
the same draws. Just look at how many fan fiction stories have been written
that introduced new main characters or played in very "odd" ways with the main
characters.
The format is adaptable in skilled hands.
In the end, I think everyone on this group would like the chance to see
me PROVEN right or wrong. (the only way to prove me wrong would be to create a
new FK television show and broadcast it.... who wouldn't want that :-) )
