Greetings, FK ListFamily...

My mother passed away this moring at the age of 81. She'd been suffering
with heart failure for the past year or so, and she died in her doctor's
office during a routine examination.

Please keep my family and myself in in your prayers, and please forward this
message to the Fkfanshug list, because if ever there was a time when I really
need a hug, it's now. Thank you for being so kind and supportive to me in
this terrible time. I'm so glad that you're my second family.

Peace and much love to you all...

I give them credit for trying. They are trying to hook vampire fans and
somewhat apologizing at the same time for airing a dark vampire themed show
in the middle of the day. If it gets people to tune in - great. We all
know how easily people get hooked on the show! One episode may be all it
takes!

I still hope there's one they show *just* with FK scenes. The other
vamp/gothic add-ins were kind of amusing, but some people might think it is
part of the show! ;)

Btw, I added a movieclip of this commercial on my site. It's a widescreen
version (got it during a movie's credits) and I plan to catch a normal size
version soon.

Subject: FK FANFIC AWARDS BACK IN BUSINESS!

(Please forward this to any FK list other than FK Fiction Discussion, FKFIC,
FORKNI, ForeverKnick, NNPack, Raven Awards, UF, LCN)

Hi, All--

I've been happily surprised with the positive response I got to my request to
hear from people interested in having the FK Fanfic Awards this year. As of 11
pm CST, I've received 75 emails indicating enthusiasm for the project.

So yes, THE AWARDS ARE A GO!

First order of business is to direct you all to the Awards FAQ on my website,
www.nancykam.com. This FAQ will tell you how the awards work. Please drop in and
read it. A lot of you asked how to get a voter ID, or how to nominate a story.
The FAQ should answer your questions. If you still have questions about how it
all works, please email me and I'll do my best to answer your concerns.

Next order of business is to continue collecting the list of eligible stories.
This is a convenience to you, and will definitely NOT be a comprehensive listing
of all stories published in 2001. Nominations are NOT limited to what's on that
list -- if someone published a dynamite story on a list I'm not on and the
author didn't email me a story link, it's still eligible! Right now there's
nothing on the list, just letters of the alphabet. Rest assured I will start
building that list. I apologize to those of you who were kind enough to send me
your links---it might not be a bad idea to resend that email, if you have it. I
don't think I've deleted anything, but you never know.

Finally, apply for your voter ID. Everything hinges on your having this ID
number--without it you can't nominate anything or vote in the final ballot.
Again, I apologize to those of you who took the time to send in the form before.
Could you please reapply? Simply go to the Voter ID Request Form on the awards
website. I promise I will send you a number within 2 days of receiving your ID
request.

Now that we're rolling again, it's up to you guys to make the Awards a success!
I would love to see each and every one of you nominate stories and vote in the
final ballot. If you don't have time to read every nominated story, that's okay!
Pick a manageable category and vote just in that one. I bet we all can manage to
read 5 vignettes, 5 short stories, or 5 poems. Your participation is what's
important. The more people that participate, the more valid the results are.

And don't forget to get all your friends to participate, too. I bet there are
fans out there who aren't on the email lists but still read fanfic. Get them
involved!

So, to recap:

1. READ THE FAQ.
2. APPLY FOR A VOTER ID.
3. AUTHORS: SEND ME YOUR LIST OF ELIGIBLE STORIES WITH THEIR LOCATIONS (EXACT
URLS, PLEASE).

Let the festivities begin!!

Cheers, Nancy Kaminski

logistics behind it? I too would be willing to join...

I agree. In "Smoke Signals", Gary Farmer, as the not so wonderful father of
the son, was very good. BTW the movie itself is a good film, about a son,
going to pick up the 'worldly goods' of his father (GF) and trying to
resolve all his feelings of love, abandonment, hurt about him.

And in the movie the son has his childhood friend along as company - and
this friend is always telling stories like the one that Capt. Stonetree told
to Schanke in one episode - and that is a story with truth in it but also a
sly bit of teasing. I am sorry that they decided that Capt Stonetree had to
go - or was it Gary Farmer that got other committments between filming
season one and season two?

This is an absolutely wonderful movie. As a side note, the woman who plays the
grandmother was in a play with Greg Kramer that I saw. She's a FANTASTIC actress
and I've learned a lot about the art by watching her.

Gary plays a character very much UNLIKE Cpt. Stonetree.

a glitch in other lists posting process?

I have a question. I'm coming to Toronto and want to know if Canadians drive
on the same side of the road that we do in the US. I don't know whether to
rent a car or try the bus system while I'm there. I'd like to see the FK
sites. I'm also going to Stratford for Gers play and I want to take a day
trip to Niagra. Can any one give me some advice. Please reply of list.
Thanks

If you've watched any of FK, you will know that we Canadians drive on
the same side of the road as you do. Admittedly, Nick had a tendancy to
drive all over the road when he was in the midst of one of his
flashbacks. <g>

If you are not accustomed to big-city driving, I strongly recommend that
you take public transportation. Downtown Toronto is not a good place to
be behind the wheel of a car when you don't know where you are going.

It's apparently a list hiccup of an old post--THE AWARDS
ARE ON. In fact I'm just about to start issuing voter
IDs to those of you who have applied. Thanks for the
great response!

I had problems with it too. I have Netscape 4.7 and a Mac. The main page
lists Internet Explorer 4 (and higher) for the preferred browser, so my guess
is that's the only way to get it to work perfectly.

Subject: Relationships

The anticipation of the marathon and FK returning to regular viewing must
have me giddy, but I started wondering what would happen if we got a new
movie or limited run series as a result and it started with way I believe
Jim Parriott said he would do it: resolving the ending of "Last Knight".
How would the relationships be altered as a result of the revelations and
actions in LK?

I haven't read the virtual 4th season and there's been a lot of wonderful
post-LK fiction but I don't think I've ever seen a concentrated discussion
of how things would have changed. Of course, I haven't been on the list
since the beginning, either :-)

Would Nat see Nick's actions as a betrayal or would she be more resolved
than ever to help him? Would Nick be so consumed with guilt that he would
sever all contact with her? Or would he be relieved that the worst had
happened and he hadn't killed Nat that he would become more comfortable with
his "dark side"?

How would LaCroix react to Nick's confession about seeing him as his
(Nick's) best friend? How would Nick react?

And, finally, how would the wild card of Janette affect everyone when she
returned?

Barb
