Could someone who has some knowledge of the powers-that-be, and the
mysterious ways in which they work, please contact me off list. I have a
question.

Many thanks,

Certainly does sound like my First Knight series, all right. You can find
the stories at: http://home.attbi.com/~nat1228/fkfanfic.htm

Okay, add me to the "Oops, that should have gone privately" club. Sigh.

To redeem myself at least partly, here's a question: What's the strangest
(or most unexpected) place you've ever met another FK fan? I just ran
across one on a Harry Potter fan page, of all places. She was talking about
this really cool show she used to watch, only it isn't on any more.... I
pointed her to this list and the KtK pages, of course. :-)

Going to bed now!

Nick is a cowboy, and the Caddy is his horse. A cowboy's horse was the
most important "person" in his life. He depended on his horse more than
he did anyone or anything else (except maybe his gun).

The strangest place I met a FK fan was in Montreal. It
was only weeks after I discovered the fandom that I
had to move there to work as an intern at a company
for four months. Desperate to have an FK buddy in my
life to replace my dad (my FK-mate back at home) I
dropped a message to the SciFi’s FK list asking if
there where any fans in Montreal. Someone replied and
I was out of my skin from excitement. I knew Montreal
was a big city and that the person might as well be on
the other side of the town, but I was ready to take
long metro rides just to be with someone who shared my
boiling interest. Guess what? He (yes, it was a male)
worked at the same company as I did; we were only one
floor apart. We had a great time chatting about our
favorite show and characters (he was a cousin and that
fitted well with my being a knightie) and ended up
becoming very good friends having lunch together
almost every day. We’re still in touch through email
after a year or so that I’ve been back in my hometown.

I've stumbled across LOTS of FK fans in the local theater scene from wearing my
FK jacket. I also brought some vacation photos to one rehearsal, and someone
said, "Wait a minute - that guy is Screed from Forever Knight!" LOL! "You know
him?"

I guess the weirdest experience was also not the nicest. It was at a little
bitty grocery store near my house. The young checker commented on my jacket,
then went off on every vampire book ever written and all the tv shows (keep in
mind, I was just getting a FEW items). Then she started telling me about "real"
vampires she knew and people she suspected were real ones (she was very serious
and beginning to scare me).

"Uh, oh," I thought.

Luckily, another employee (maybe her supervisor) cut her off and as I was
leaving, she was getting a lecture on etiquette when there were long lines. The
last thing I heard the checker say was, "I was just being friendly! She liked
talking to me. I could tell."

That was the last time I saw that checker in there.

Another strange (but much nicer) experience was through this list. I put out a
call for FK fans in central Arkansas. Someone replied from my town, and it
turned out we were both at Bridging the Knight, might've even talked to each
other, but didn't realize how close we lived! She now lives even closer, but
seldom get to see each other due to busy schedules. We do run into each other
sometimes.

Subject: GK's birthday

Greg "Screed's" birthday is coming up in early/mid-March so it is time to send
those birthday greetings! I will be sending a "fan package" to him very early in
March, so if you'd like to include a gift or card, please e-mail me off list for
details.

I ask that gifts be light weight or that you enclose a few dollars to help me
with shipping (packages have cost me up to $50 to mail!) You can also send cash
if you have no idea what to get him, and I'll purchase something and put
***YOUR*** name on the package. I'm always happy to provide gift suggestions via
e-mail as well.

Gifts need to be mailed to me UNWRAPPED for security purposes. For the custom
forms, I must know exactly what is going into the package. I also ask that card
envelopes or letters meant for him be UNSEALED (no, I'm not nosey - I don't have
time to be nosey - again, this is a security issue... sorry) You can include
wrapping paper and I'll be happy to wrap the gift before I send it on to Greg.

Greg really does enjoy his fans. He often asks about them! So this is a way to
show your appreciation. Some actors no longer will accept packages from fans,
Greg loves 'em. He also loves creativity in the way of homemade gifts. Fans have
even sent him poems and drawings before that he's enjoyed. I've personally
handed him one of the poems which he read right on the spot and can tell you he
*did* get a kick out of it.

I will also accept e-mails, including those of poems, stories, messages, etc.
Send them to Libratsie@a.......

Closer to his birthday, I'll post a reminder so those who can't send him
something can post a message to his fan klub's message board.

For mailing specifics, please e-mail me directly:

Nat and Janette are great but like Evylen says the 'Cowboy and his horse are
one.'
How many times in the show did we see Nick worry about the Caddy?

And too add....we CaddyWhackers are out here. Last year's letter writing
campagine, we came in third. We just quietly lurk in the garage watching the
show and waiting for our moment to jump in.

Never did see Nick kiss the Caddy, though.
Any cowboy worth his salt in the old movie days would always
kiss his horse (this was so he wouldn't have to kiss any woman
because as any 10 year old male movie-fan knows, all women but
his mother and aunts "have cooties").
Seriously, I think if you watch the series that you see that Nick
still has a fairly serious relationship with Janette. They still jump
each other's necks from time to time and there is definitely a deep
undercurrent between them.
Janette left Nicholas, remember, not the other way around.
Natalie could either be viewed as a "temporary dalliance" until
Janette returns to Nicholas or as Nicholas' replacement for the
relationship that Janette no longer wants to have as a central part
of her life.
Of course, the vampires live so long that our concepts of "until
death do us part" don't have any real meaning and their ability to
successfully raise "children" without having a long-term partnership
with a significient other changes the dynamic.
A hundred years as a couple is a very long time - to my ears.
If you have eternity, it stands to reason that the pair-bond would
eventually become a burden and both sides would agree to
seperating to find different experiences.
That is not to say that they wouldn't drift back together again in
a few centuries.
There are those couples today who have married, divorced and
then remarried years later.

My only really unexpected meeting with another fan was in Guatemala. I was
talking to a co-worker from Hondurous and we got on the subject of favorite
TV shows. I started to explain what FK was about, and all the sudden she
got this really excited look on her face and said (in spanish): OH, oh, I
know! And he has blond hair and blue eyes and drives a big old car that's
kind of green!
Turns out that it's her sister that's the big fan in her family, but she
watched it, too. In Spanish it's called 'Cabellero de la Noche' (Knight of
the night). I think I might have mentioned that before.
