The make-up person said tans could be dealt with, but there were occasional
slip-ups. For example, when Nick was filmed while thinking about the case
in the loft (first season, possibly the ep with the radio psychologist--tarot
cards) his face is properly pale, but you can see where the collar of
his shirt stopped and the sun did its work. And in the photo of Nick
seated on the gothic chair, one of his sleeves has inched up past the
make-up.

Come to think of it, if a vampire is brought across while tanned, why would
s/he lose the tan? One can be pale under a tan. Perhaps Nick should have been
pale, but LC should have had a tan, since he hailed from a more southern clime.

I think the reason vampires are pale isn't because they
don't get to be in the sun but most likely because they are
undead (whatever that entails). They also have cold blood
running through their veins and their skin doesn't change
color because of climate, i.e. won't turn red due to
cold/heat, because they are insensitive to either. Now why
they lose their tan and become pale after their
transformation might be due to the same cause that makes
their fangs grow or their corneas turn multicolor. It's
probably the overall change that distinguishes the mortal
you from the transformed, vampire you.

i have been on the FKFIC-L list for a while and was wondering if this list
is used to find beta readers? I recently joined this list to volunteer if
anyone is seeking a beta reader. I love to write, but i never post stories,
and i really want to contribute.

thanks,

With thanks to those who obviously did receive it and have commented, did anyone
else on FKFIC not receive "A Fire of the Heart"? (Please email me off list if
you didn't.)

AO-Hell apparently lived up to its nickname and trashed both lists for 2 full
days, so I received nothing (not even my own story) Thursday or Friday.
Grrrrrr... They both seem to have resumed now, but the missing digests and
stories were never delivered.

Anyway, I appreciate the kind comments from those who enjoyed the story. And
(with McLisa's permission), if anyone would like to check out my latest pro sale
to a paperback anthology, see: http://fantasistent.com/FantVisions.html or the
link on my website at http://members.aol.com/JeanB7

Am I seeing wrong, but I thought I noticed Kristin in some of the trailers
for the Jim Cary movie "Majestic." Did anyone else notice this?

I did receive, and just finished reading it yesterday. Didn't have time to
respond yet, sorry! I enjoyed it! I think it was about time we had an
"Immortal Beloved" story -- not enough of those in a loooong while!

It's probably just tradition, explained away by the undead thing and also lack
of sunlight. Have you ever seen a vampire that wasn't pale? I think there was
even a quote (meant to be humorous) in the show about vampires being pale, but
I can't recall it.
