Dear [Name removed by request]~

About the notion of listmembers helping each other ~

As a newbie, you may not understand this group yet; maybe that's why you're
frustrated. I don't post often anymore, because of my health. But this is
a very good time for me to speak up and tell you the truth.

Libs wrote:
> We are a family here. I've met many of the folks on this list, and can tell
> you that sense of family extends beyond the Net, even though we don't all
> necessarily get along<g>

Yes, we ARE. We care about each other and support each other. We talk about
FK and the characters and everything under the sun relating to FK, BUT we CARE
ABOUT EACH OTHER very much. This is not a shallow group. If you're looking
for a glib, insincere chatroom, you've come to the wrong place.

The people on this list are intelligent, funny, and good-hearted. They did not
just fall off the turnip truck; they're not easily fooled. I don't know how
many pages it would take just to list all the degrees these folks have. So please
believe me when I assure you that they aren't targets for scams. As a life-long
smart-ass, I can attest that it's possible to be intelligent and cynical - and
still be compassionate and good-hearted.

Here's some history for you:

I was injured nearly 10 years ago, and developed a neurological-neuromuscular
disease as a result. A few years ago, I learned that the disease is progressive,
degenerative, and incurable. It causes intense, chronic pain, which means that I
"lost" my life - my job, activities, things I enjoyed. I manage to get through
each day because my doctors have me on an intensive program of morphine and
anticonvulsants, plus 8 other drugs and physical therapy. Eventually I will be
in a wheelchair before I die.

Sad story, huh? Well, the world's full of sad stories. My mother died last
June and the listmembers were completely supportive, as always. Life still
goes on. I could ask my friends on FK for help, and they'd do whatever they
could to help me.
I know this because they've DONE it - they have repeatedly helped me by sending
me photographs, etc. for the projects I create for charity auctions. They are
generous beyond any expectation. And I feel exactly the same way about them.

If you don't want to contribute $$ to help KC, don't do it. Check the subject
line of your messages and delete the ones pertaining to that. Then introduce a
new subject yourself.

But criticizing our compassion for one another is a waste of your time, I
promise.
Our hearts make up a large part of the framework of this group. That's not
gonna change.

Oh, God. I'm sorry.

As anyone can tell, that was supposed to be a private
post to [Name removed by request], instead of going to the entire list.
My apologies to [Name removed by request], as well.

I'm so embarrassed. Please forgive me, guys.
Sorry, McLisa. Geeez.

That is certainly an interesting mental image first thing in the morning, even
before injesting caffeine. At least, he's not wearing a hot pink leather mini

Portia, suddenly needing to visualize Nick in his nightie, stat!

Sadly, though, all I can see now is the entire FK male cast in hot pink leather
mini skirts. Will probably have to go to "no mail" while I attend extended
therapy. sigh.

Libs put into perfect words the way many, many of us feel. We are a
community of friends here. I can only say, "Brava!" to her and add one
thing:

>>A fan was missing and presumed dead a few years ago. Due to the efforts
>>for the fans on this list, she was found in an emergency room and the
>>proper care given to her in hopes of getting her back on her feet after
>>what she later called a very stupid move on her part.<<

That was me. Let me tell all of you how truly stunning, humbling and
heart-warming to find out, when you think no one in the world cares, that
people you've never even met face-to-face have been worried about you and
care for you. That outpouring of love from this list truly changed my life.

striped sailor's jersey has always done it for me!

That's an aviator's cap from the days of the open cockpit
biplanes, isn't it? There's probably a more correct name
for it that that, but I think that's what it was used for.

Nobody's going to be unsubbed or even noposted because of replies in the
present situation.. I honestly do try to make allowances for lost tempers
and provocation when things get heated, plus nobody's done more than smolder
since this morning. <wry smile>

I wish I could keep everybody happy all the time. Since that's impossible
with human nature, I'll settle for reminding all of us that I'm willing to
listen offlist even if someone completely disagrees with me. At times I've
been talked out of things. When I'm not, I still respect and appreciate
everyone's input.

For all of you, thank you for not bursting into flames. This is why this
list is such a joy to administer almost all the time.
