re: marrying Divia to a plebian or a freedman, or a free man for that
matter, who happens to be a client (i.e. dependent) of his - I think my
point is that these aren't at all bad matches. All of these people could be
comfortably well-off and nice, respectable people.

But if the point is that Divia can't hope to marry into her FATHER's class,
then I agree, absolutely.  She's not legitimate, and her mother does not
have high social status.  If it irks her, as it might, that she will never
be able to move in the circles her father does, and which ought, she might
think, to be hers by right of birth, then she will be one frustrated and
unhappy girl.  And I can easily see her bringing Lucius across in order to
reverse the hierarchy between them!  (As Kezia ingeniously suggested just
now.)  And desiring Daddy's rank so much she believes she desires Daddy as
well (theory # 3).

But I still think she doesn't try to bring Mummy across (if she didn't)
because she's in the throes of an unresolved Electra complex.  Mom's in the
way of her perfect union - with Daddy.

Ah.  Didn't realize Mel updated the v4s as well!  Boy, oh boy, does she
have her hands full.  I've been patiently waiting for the fkfanfic site to
be updated, and will continue to do so.  Glad to hear she's working on the
'major update,' but more hoping her RL gets in shape!  And a big thanks to
ya Mel!

Thanks, Libs, for the tip.  I think I have the ftp addy, but it would help

(for the newbies, that was the rolledup newspaper hitting a Ratpacker that all
good listowners in FK fandom keep on hand for controlling the Ratpackers. We
dunna get inny re-spect or re-spite!)

Az fer Divia, she saw 'erself h'az a Daddy's girl, fer a fact.  Maybe because 'e
wuzna around h'all the time. Many a youngsta thinks a parent wots away h'iz

It occurred to me that there are couple of theories nobody has raised as
yet, as to why Divia offered to bring her father across but not her mother.

It could just be that she disliked her mother,
and that's why she didn't bring her across.    I don' t think that
Divia ever showed any affection tword Selene.  And we never saw Selene's
fate.  Divia could have killed her.  Or Selene could have died in
Vesuvius.

Well, hey doesn't LaCroix even say that in an episode of FK?  I am, of
course, brain freezing on which one.........



I could actually see LaCroix as Puck.  He's got a sort of cruel
mischief about him that would carry the part.  Of course, I could see him
as Oberon as well.
