Well, guess what.........

I woke up at 0-Dark-Thirty <g> this morning and typed the lyrics to Lori
Yates' "Rebel Angel" before I went off to work.

I am on a break now between patient, so I sat down at the piano and figured
it out. I play mostly by ear, so all I need to know are the chords.

Great song, I could hear it being used in FK "So pull your coat around you, a
little bit tighter, another Angel has found his way home." Can't say exactly
where I could hear it being sung in FK, but the redemption Nick is seeking
comes to mind.

Thanks so much to all those who tried to help me!! I don't need the sheet
music now since I figured it out YAY!!!! <g>

Forever Yours,
Billie-Lee

Hi Everyone:

I don't see Divia as absolutely evil. In terms
of how she was treating LC--it was payback for
his abandoning her both as a mortal (while he was
off pilaging Gallic villages) and as an immortal
(the crypt). Who knows what would happen if LC
hadn't shut her up in the crypt??? (I will leave
the endless streams of "what if" at this
point...)

Anger and malevolence were bred into her, I
think, by LC's familia. Besides, being
illegitimate didn't help matters any....

Thanks

David

Does anyone know the title of the French version of FK? That might help
Gladys find French FK fanfic. Also, I'm just curious. Thanks!

Nick might like it. After all, it's made from the hemoglobin of cattle. For
him it'd probably be like drinking a diet soda. Something different, but the
taste is familiar.

Hmmm. They seem to have missed the several different blood substitutes
that have been around for years. Mostly they are based on perflourocarbon
or silicon. I expect they would be completely unpalatable to Nick or any of
his compatriots.

Me, too--she knew her last chance was to appeal to LaCroix's one weakness,
his love for his children, mortally or vampirically gotten.

>>Personally, I don't think she would have shown the tiniest bit of
gratitude or affection for LC. I think she would have considered him weak
and finished him off at that point.<<

She showed no pity for any of the innocents she killed just to get her
vengeance on LaCroix. She showed no love or hurt towards him, just rage at
his refusal to satisfy her desires and revenge for his murder of her. Even
at her funeral pyre, we see how much LaCroix loved her--would she have felt
the same if she'd killed him? I doubt it.

Is Divia, then, evil? I think that her short mortal life, cloistered in a
brothel with a father unable or unwilling to acknowledge her formally,
coupled with her too-soon transformation into a vampire, warped her mind
beyond recovery. Had LaCroix not killed her in Egypt, would she have gained
a different perspective through time?

Not to mention the fact that she was given eternal life and that immense
power at a very delicate developmental stage. She looks to be at that late
childhood/early adolescence phase. As the parent of a 13- and a
14-year-old, one of whom is female, I can assure you that it's an extremely
volatile and self-absorbed stage. <G> If YOU were a kid with almost
absolute power and an eternity in which to indulge yourself, would you put
up with all those silly adult constraints on your freedom?

>Had LaCroix not killed her in Egypt, would she have gained

I have a feeling that it would have taken her a very long time, if at all.
Heck, I thought my parents were the most stupid people on Earth from the
time I hit age 12 until I got to be about 25. Just think of that period
stretched out into "vampire years" for a self-indulgent, all-powerful brat.
 <BG>

Has anyone ever wondered why she would only offer her "gift of life" to her
father and allow her mother to die in the ashes of Pompeii? Jealousy?
Contempt? Getting back at mom for all those times Divia was sent to her
room for misbehaving? All of the above?

I think she really was a child in pain at that moment. I don't think she
was trying to manipulate. Divia doesn't really strike me as
manipulative. She seems to prefer the direct approach.

I agree with that. Once healthy and whole again, I think she would have
returned to her rampaging ways.

Not to mention the wonderful example from dear old Dad. Divia probably
overheard many things LaCroix said where he appears to take pleasure in his
own cruelty, such as putting out the sculpter's eyes or killing the enemy
soldiers and letting his own soldiers rape the women.

Possibly. Being cooped up in that coffin surely induced anger over the years,
at LaCroix and all things his. Who knows what would happen if Divia had spent
any time with Nick, how she might have changed? I can see an alternate history
fanfic here . . .

He looks a lot younger than that!
So that makes Nigel, what, 50 something?
What about Catherine? I thought she was closer to my sister-in-laws age
(36), or is she closer to Ger's age?
