Hi Everyone:

I am one of those folks who is slowly bringing
the scifi minions at work over to the FK fold.
(The fanfic does wonders for that by the
way....They didn't really follow the show before
I got here. Now, they're hooked on my fiction.
<heh..heh>) I have the FK wallpaper on my office
computer (several versions--including Nick &
Tracy at their desk, Nick & Nat in the
aforementioned pose as well as the cast shots
from all three seasons).

I wish they would do an FK calendar or a
mousepad. (Sorry, still not into the clothing.)

Then again, how about an FK movie???? (TPTB
needs to think about it. At least, they wouldn't
have to write a script....)

Thanks

David

Long ago someone in the SCA told me Worchester sauce could substitute for

was based in Thailand during her military service, told me they use a

I think the recipe for garum does exist; I'm pretty sure I've read it & even
have it around somewhere; but I don't think anyone really believes it. It
involves a fish sitting around in the sun for quite awhile, and one adds oil
and some other stuff. I'm not joking. It was ketchup to the Romans, they
used it on everything. Yuk! This in itself might explain why LC never
regretted becoming a vampire - at least he'd never have to eat fish sauce
again ...

Aboslutely hysterical - and not laughing. She was holding the police bag with
the rat in it out at arms length. If I recall correctly, PN Elrod got into
the action by "running" the rat (bringing it out into the audience so folks
could get a closer look), though I may not be remembering this clearly. After
all, h'it wuz a 'ighlight o' me loif, h'it wuz!

There was a second rat up for auction that I wanted terribly - just one of
the plain rats. But someone explained to me that they were buying it for
"Apache." Of course I had no idea who Apache was at the time, or anyone
really (except for McLisa, who introduced herself), but I decided not to be
greedy and stopped bidding on it. Besides, I was hoping to snag Greg Kramer's
first novel, and it was even autographed!

I had my doubts about that novel, but it is now my favorite book and would be
even if Greg had no connection with FK. At the time, I wished I could
discuss a few things about the writing of it with him.... I thought maybe I
*might* get the chace someday<g>

I met SO many listmembers there, and have since at cons and just at "hey, why
don't you come up for a few days" parties.

You think?

He certainly enjoys enforcing obedience, but I don't see him as
particularly wanting to be surrounded by people or children whose
only goal in (un) life is the serve and obey.

The reason Nick, Janette, and Nat are (1) still around and (2) still
of interest to LaCroix is because their "obedience" cannot be
simply assumed.

If, as in AMPH, LaCroix evinced a certain weariness with his
unending existence, how much more excruciating would it be,
were he to have only "yes" men and women in his orbit?

Hi All,

this is Silver de-lurking from the LaCroix forum.

I'm kindof thinking that "FK Efforts" is really an advertising or marketing
thing. The like minded ones are indeed, out there; I've converted a few
myself :-)

I thought the idea of paging the napster users was great; perhaps sth could
be done with amazon com and barnes and noble, use their customer reviews to
put in a link to the community?

I've been thinking that it would be an easy thing to put sth in the
signature lines of messages that go to other groups and to make some
banners/buttons/badges to go on non-FK websites and to banner exchanges and
link programmes. Perhaps the lady who does the merchandise has some things
of that nature already? Now this may sound really weird but a friend of mine
in London got about ten thousand people to his website by printing in colour
little address labels up on his printer and sticking them everywhere he went
with a cryptic message - telephone cells, trees, and especially lady's
toilets!!

I'm overseeing a project site at the moment that will draw a lot of traffic
when it opens. If I had some banners, badges and buttons I could easily
stick them into the rotation <grins subversively>.

Any great designers out there?

No, I don't, actually--I was being facetious. The best way for me to sum up
LaCroix viv-a-vis Nick, Janette and Nat is to quote the Shriekback song,
"The Reptiles and I":

"The best kind of friend
Is like iron sharpening iron
By only its claw
You may tell of the lion"

I have a strong personality myself and have more of an interest in people
who are also strong than in those I can run roughshod over (unintentionally,
or because I'm just in a cranky mood <g>).

IIRC, the only ep in which Janette was 'disobedient,' however, was Father's
Day. Still, she's a strong woman and a good match for LaCroix. As for Nat,
I think the primary reason LC let her alone was because of her importance to
Nick, however, in Vampwrtr's 'Shadow Dance' fic, there's wonderful
interaction between the two when Nick has LC guard Natalie from her would-be
murderers.

People who are shot *often* don't know it immediately;
they're too pumped with adrenaline, from being in a shooting situation, to
'get it' at first.

I can vouch for this first-hand. When I accidentally shot, the bullet
traveled through my right arm, into my chest, through my pericardium and
left lung, and lodged in my left shoulder. There was no pain at all at
first, and then just a dull ache gradually developed in my left shoulder.
In the mean time, I was drowning in my own blood and didn't have a clue
until after surgery. That's when the REAL pain started.

First she was handed a Toronto Police Dept. mug and

Seeing as it was a third season prop, she very well may not have even known
its significance to the show.

For those wanting to know, it is very realistic looking, or was. It is rather
dingy with the fake blood and handling now, but still looks real unless you
get right up on it.

Yes, I do let people handle it within my eyeshot. WHat fun is having a half
eaten dead white lab rat if you can't share it with the world.

I've got two funny rat moments to share. One is non-fannish. I was in a play
and we had a performance Halloween night. I'd brought the rat to show off to
the cast and someone asked me if they could show it to someone. Normally, I
don't let that thing out of my sight, but since it was a cast member, I said,
"Sure. Just bring it right back."

A few minutes later I heard the director let out an ear-piercing scream. The
actor had put it on the stage, then got the director's attention and asked,
"Is that what it looks like? ON STAGE?"

The first time I met Greg Kramer, I had the rat in my backpack with
intentions of having him sign the police bag. But we were in a bar so I
decided to wait. I opened the pack to get something else out, and he saw it,
asking if he could hold it. The next thing I knew, he had it out of the
police bag and was walking through the bar announcing to his fellow actors
(he was in a play), "This is the rat that killed me off of Forever Knight!"

Oh, and then there was the time I was having breakfast with PN (Pat) Elrod at
a convention. She asked me if I'd put it on the table so she can get some
pictures. What she probably still doesn't realize to this day is the waiter
came up behind her, took one look at the table, cringed, and didn't check on
us for the rest of the meal. LOL! <g>

I HIGHLY recommend this ep -- Ben is VERY good in it
{{{as he ALWAYS is!!! ...IMHO, of course! :) }}} and
you have to be sure to watch the ENTIRE ep -- as
he's in it from the VERY beginning to the VERY end --
and, even if you, like me, do not get ShowTime, I hope
you are able to get a VERY kind and generous person who
does get ShowTime to tape it for you! [::waves to my
VERY kind and generous VaqDreaming VaqSis, Teri::
{{{who, like I, is also a happily EXTREMELY dedicated
fan of the Devastatingly Handsome and VERY Talented
Mr. Bass!}}} who taped it for me -- TWICE... well, in
case the first tape gets damaged or worn out...
would be unbearable to risk not having this one in my Ben
Bass Tape Collection!!! :) :) :)
Enjoy!!! :)
