Think of this as a rallying cry. <eg> I know getting ready for a War can
take time. I also know how things can slip away....

Besides, I'm running out of virtual Godiva Cranberry Truffles and Chamborg

You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mind (For A Cold Winter Week)

Filk By Mildred Cady, Merc Mommy General and Merc Computer Genius
(In preparation for War 11)

Original song- “You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)”
by Meatloaf

You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mind (For A Cold Winter’s Week)

BOY: For a cold winter week would you offer your computer to the vampires
in Toronto?
GIRL: Will they offer me their history?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Will they offer me their present?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Will they offer me their future?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Will they ask of me my loyalty?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Again, will they ask of me my loyalty?
BOY: Yes!
GIRL: And will the War never be without me?
BOY: Yes!
GIRL: And do they need me?
BOY: Yes

GIRL: Yes
BOY: For a cold winter week would you offer your computer to the vampires in
Toronto?
GIRL: Yes
BOY: I bet you to say that to all the factions.

It was a cold winter night and the snow was falling
There was a wind whirling over the drifts
When I read over the list I could feel my head a-spinning
I saw the excited posts
Streaming from all the hopeful hands

We were grabbing our tapes and vcrs running
I was dying to ask for the pilot again
We were reading War archives in a hazy stupor
By the light of our monitors
We feel there's not another moment
Not another moment
Not another moment to wait

When we get so excited that our heads will explode
And my mind is thinking of a million pranks
I’m trying to get ready but no matter what I do
I just can’t seem to make any sense

And then you took the words right out of my mind
Oh it must have been when the War topic stated
You took the words right out of my mind
And I swear it's true
I now need to declare a faction

And then you took the words right out of my mind
Oh it must have been when the War topic stated
You took the words right out of my mind
And I swear it's true
I now need to declare a faction

Now my mind is thinking of the various characters
And I guess that I’m beginning to see
Oooh, there’s just so many and I can join who I want to
The War isn’t that soon
And ain’t no one gonna know which
No one gonna know which
No one's gonna know which one I’ve picked

We were grabbing our tapes and vcrs running
I was dying to ask for the pilot again
We were reading War archives in a hazy stupor
By the light of our monitors
We feel there's not another moment
Not another moment
Not another moment to wait

And then you took the words right out of my mind
Oh it must have been when the War topic stated
You took the words right out of my mind
And I swear it's true
I now need to declare a faction

And then you took the words right out of my mind
Oh it must have been when the War topic stated

Humpf! Speaking as a 5'4" fully grown person, it's not short! It's---it's
average. Adequate. Compact. Tall enough to reach the top cupboard. Just the
right size for an airplane seat. <g>

Subject: ADMIN: How To Send Text-Only Messages From AOL 6.0

With thanks to Vickiann Adams for her efforts. Here is the tested and
approved answer to our conundrum. This solution is similar to what I
had from AOL, but with two critical steps that AOL Tech Support left off.

How to send plain text from AOL V6.0:
=====================================

1. Make sure your font is set to Arial 10, the AOL default.

2. Create a message using only default Arial 10 type. Any quoted text
pasted in from another message must also be in Arial 10 type (no bold,
other sizes or colors). Note: if you paste a message that was received
in HTML format, it will probably cause you to send in HTML.

3. Hit Control-A to highlight the entire message. **You MUST select
the entire message this way. Dragging the cursor to highlight tends to
miss some of the critical formatting tags.**

4. Right click anywhere in the message itself: A 'popup menu' will
appear. Move the cursor to "text" and another menu will appear. Move
the cursor to "normal" and click on it.

5. Send the message.

Do it in Word Save As from ***.doc to ***.txt to turn it into a text
file. I had to put the line breaks in manually that way, though. Instead, I
suppose when you are done you can cut and paste the whole shebang to Wordpad
if that puts the line breaks in for you. I think Word has more goodies on
the Toolbar at your disposal for editing.
I'm learning a lot from this posting discussion. It is sure to save McLisa a

There were some tall people off and on. On one hand, the Marquise de Sade
was about 5'4" or 5'5" which made him quite the stud in his day and also made
him elegible to join an elite calvalry corps which had a height minimum of at
least 5'4" (I think) . G. Washington was closer to 6' which impressed the
heck out of people and that probably had a great deal more to do with him
becoming our first president than is generally given credit. People were
*really* impressed by height.
Put a wig on LaCroix. Maybe it was really LaCroix who was our first
president (weg).
Or, for the benefit of our Dark Cousins, maybe it was really LaCroix who
did G.W. in given LaCroix's natural tendency toward imperialism. He was
undoubtedly a Royalist sympathizer. I just read that G. Washington was ill
and was bled by his so called physicians. They took well over a quart and
couldn't understand why the poor guy never recovered. Was LaCroix playing
doctor again? Hmmmmm.

When I separated the story into sections, I paid little attention to natural
breaks in the story. All the breaks occur mid chapter, a few at
mid-sentence. The sentence will continue when you open the next part.

Doing the doctor thing was Nick's gig, not LC's. <g> And over a quart of
blood? Isn't that well over half of an average human's blood volume? Yikes!
I can see though, Lacroix being the secret motivating force behind a certain
arrogant general named Gates. <g>

You can save the Word file as text with line breaks---that option is on the Save
As menu. What you have to do is set the document width to about 5 inches so that
the lines are no more than 70 characters wide.

> I think Word has more goodies on the Toolbar at your disposal for editing.

I've recommended this to lots of people, so I'll recommend it here. I use a text
editor that's shareware, called TextPad (www.textpad.com). It has most of the
basic word processing functions, but will never, ever insert those pesky
proprietary formatting codes that Word does and that occasionally sneak through,
even when you save as text.

It also displays a line counter so it's easy to determine if your story part is
within the 300 line maximum. You can set the line width easily. It's ideal for
writing stories for list publishing. I love it!

Nancy's right. I'm only 5 feet tall and it is a problem most of the time. I
can't reach my kitchen cabinets and some chairs, the seats are too deep so my
feet done touch the floor. LaCroix and Nick could both eat soup off the top
of my head. But let me remind you all....It's not the size that counts, only
the quality.

I formatted the breaks for every 4 sections, not 3.... and since I can't post 4,
well, there are some awkward breaks.... Part 12 picks up where 11 left off.

I am actually quite taller than anyone else in my family (the women all
average 5'0'' to 5'5"). I am 5'8" and I've always hated being so much
taller... though there are times it does have its perks.
My husband is 6'4" and since my 10 year old is already 5'4", I figure
she is going to be *really* tall.
I'm terribly sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I remember there was a multi part series shown here in
Canada a couple of months ago about the history of the
land in which LaCroix--sorry Nigel played one of the
historical figures and was wearing a wig. It took me a
while to recognize him and when I did, I didn't
mention it since I thought I was the only FK fan in

sudden my dad asked (casually)"Isn't he going to boss
