Excellent! Short, sharp, to the point. Mollinesque music and a Nigel
Bennettesque voice, by preference. And a couple of shots of Nick & LaCroix,
for which we'd need to get permission from Sony. What an idea!

WEBSITE FIXED
============
I'm pleased to announce that my struggle with A) MediaOne and B) FrontPage 2000
is over and that I won. The Awards website is now running smoothly, with
(hopefully) all broken links fixed. My apologies to anyone who was puzzled,
inconvenienced, or appalled at my lack of website experience. The site is
located at http://people.mn.mediaone.net/nancykam/awards.htm

However, I discovered that MediaOne doesn't support forms. Grrr. So I've
arranged for space on doteasy.com which should go live within the week. They DO
support forms, and your voter ID registration and nomination of award candidates
will be much easier. In the meantime, please use the email links I've set up on
the current site.

The new site will be located at www.nancykam.com. Stay tuned!

VOTER IDs AVAILABLE NOW!
=======================
Voter IDs are available now so you can nominate stories for an award. Go to

NOMINATIONS OPEN FEB. 20!
=======================
Nominations are open starting Tuesday, February 20. Go to

I happened to have the tv on earlier while having a snack and was surprised
to see that tonight's Biography (on A&E) is Rick Springfield. The showed a
clip of him talking about his life/career. Check your times. Remember they
show it twice tonight. EST is 8pm and midnight.

I've got about 1/4th of a story uploaded to a webpage and the other 3/4th in
rough draft on my hard drive.

It's an xover between the angels of Touched By An Angel and Forever Knight,
heavy on Andrew, Nicholas and Lacroix with smaller appearances by the other
angels, Janette, Aristotle and God.<g> Lot's of angst from both sides and
spoilers galore---also some demonic doings that rate it a PG-13.

I'm going to post the webpage addy here, but if you want to read
more---offer to spell check/grammar beta!

Oh, and if anybody happens to know what year and model Tess' Caddy is,
please let me know.

Hi, folks....

I'm curious as to when the war's going to be because I want to make sure that
the remaining chapters of "In Another Life" don't get lost in the shuffle.

If all goes well, I hope to be able get most of the chapters of "In Another
Life" sent off before the War starts, and the concluding chapters will be
sent off after the War's over...

This was not my recollection of the flashback, so I rewatched
QoH today. I really don't see any indication that Nick was
particularly religious at this point. He has not dedicated himself
to any religious order that we are aware of, he has not voluntarily
gone off to fight for the Holy Land. In speaking with Lord de la Barre,
he debates whether the Pope would/should/could hold influence
so far from Rome. Indeed he shows an openess to Gwenyth and
her beliefs that indicate anything but a strict adherence to the
Church and its beliefs.

>And he seemed to be very attracted to the Harp player (falling
>in love with her) but we do NOT see any indications that he behaved
'>improperly' (as defined by strict scriptural adherance) towards her.

Still, there was a great deal of physical contact between them, certainly
more than would be deemed appropriate towards an unchaperoned
woman in many cultures. I think he was walking a fine line there.

>So I don't think that we have any basis to assume that as a teenager
>he was sleeping around (despite being good-looking and of nobility).

I think as far as canon goes, you're absolutely right. I do think that
there is an underlying attitude there though that has always made
me suspect that he was fairly promiscuous in his mortal life as well.

Are there other places, less pricey, we can spread the good word? Would a
banner ad such as above, in bold print, be cheaper than a full page age?
Could it run more places or more often and we'd get more bang for our buck?
Is there something, anything, we might be able to post to the SciFi channel
site? Something simple that isn't a copyright infringement that they'd be
willing to sell in their online store? (like Vampire in my Trunk vanity
plates.) It would have to be something we don't already all have, I suppose.

My 2 year old and dilapidated computer crashed again this morning and I am

I think this is the second time in four weeks I've had to reformat. Ugh.

Subject: Re: More bizarro KtK ideas

Fangdom,

Some of us go to cons regularly, others irregularly. I'm going with my
daughter's Anime Club to Toronto in April? for an Anime convention. What are
the protocols at conventions for handing out "literature"? It is easy and
cheap for an individual to type up a letter/ broadsheet/ and pass them out to
suitable vendors (I doubt it would help to pass them out to attendees even if
you could). Perhaps Boulevard books will have a booth. ;-) Or a local TV
station. Or the SciFi channel if the con is big enough. I know that KtK has
had a broadsheet of sorts available to be copied as needed. I think anyone
going to a con ought to print / copy out at least twenty (more if you are in
Vegas, eh?) and have them handy to hand out when a suitable vendor is not
stocking anything FK.

At a Star Trek con locally, there were several vendors that were fan/
autograph/ photo/ poster/ CD vendors generally but not specifically Star
Trek. Would it hurt to leave them a letter elucidating what FK fans are
looking for (posters, DVD the whole shebang), a tasty list of fan websites to
give them ideas, etc. As long as we are standing in front of the vendor
asking and looking, (and not finding), we might as well leave them a note.
Person to person contact is powerfull.

btw it is generally illegal to leave literature on windsheilds. It is not
considered promotion, it is considered littering. ;-)

Interesting thought. I will be attending Mars Con (in Bloomington MN) this
spring. It is a good general sci-fi con. I'm trying to think of the other
cons coming up in the Twin Cities and am blanking out right now, other than
Creation Con in August, which is specifically Star Trek, and Minicon. I'm
sure Mars Con would not be adverse to some flyers on a table. That is a
common sight.

If anyone's interested, send me a message off list and I'll send you the Mars
Con home page url. Hopefully I can find it in my saved mail!

I'm answering this on-list as I'm sure there's others with the same questions.
I've been going to cons of a variety of sorts since 1982....

THere's almost always a "freebie" table to leave fliers. THat is where the
convention folks want you to leave the fliers. Please don't just randomly place
them elsewhere as it could get the convention in serious trouble with the hotel
(I've seen it happen) and it is extremely hard for science fiction related
conventions to get hotel space at affordable prices. Especially do not put any
up on walls, even party announcement flyers, unless the hotel/convention has
specifically said it is okay. Just because there are other flyers up on walls
does not make it okay (can you tell I've worked on con committees??? LOL!)

Dealer/huckster room sellers cannot offer more merchandise if the merchandise is
not available for them to sell. The best thing you can do is to ask "don't you
have anything FK?" If they do have FK merchandise, ask them if you can put some
KTK flyers on their tables or if they'd like to have some to hand out to fans.
Some will say no as they may not have room, others will gladly take them as they
are fannish sorts as well as sellers.

One of the best ways to get the FK message across is a room party on Friday or
Saturday night - IF THE CON/HOTEL ALLOWS IT. Sometimes there's specific floors
set aside for parties, sometimes the hotel has said "absolutely NO room
parties."

Anyway, if you can have a party and have a way to do it, bring a vcr (if the
hotel will unlock the tv for you to set up your vcr - some won't) to show FK
episodes. Offer munchies and drinks (alochol, where allowed, is extremely
popular, just be sure to check the ages of those you are serving! I'd suggest
something "blood red" even in the way of soft drinks) Hand out flyers. Smooze.
Show them how much fun FK fans are. Maybe even decorate the room a little.

Hope all that helps.

Okay, I am new to playing in the war -- so I 'd like to know:
Can someone tell me if NOW is the time to specifically
sign up at ForKni-L to receive "war posts" as McLisa
has given directions for on-list -- and is this how one receives the
war-related posts before and during war?

And, a Vaq-War-Vet I know has mentioned "over-flowing mailboxes" --
and I figure that during war, A LOT of e-mail is generated--
and my HotMail account that I'm subbed to FK-L with,
is over-the-limit weekly and I don't need for my
getting-close-to-the-limit YaHoo mailbox to
over-flow-- so could ya'll tell me --

#1 would it be a good idea to get another FREE HotMail mailbox/account? and

#2 can I re-sub for 'War Stuff' to ForKni-L with that new addy --
a different one that I'm subbed with originally?-- and
should that be the addy to sub to any Vaq War List or
doesn't it matter -- e.g. my YaHoo addy-- that I'm subbed to my YaHoo-Groups
with and use 95% of the time-- for the
Vaq War List and another addy for the ForKni-L list,
like I have at present anyway?

#3 is it proper to tell the other non-Vaq lists NOW
that I will be in the Vaquero/as Faction for theupcoming war?
