Hope you feel better. I've been down with the same thing for the past 17
days and it takes a lot out of you. Rest and drink fluids. We'll be waiting
for your healthy return.

Hello!

I've been here two days and I'm already loving it!
(Kyer pointed me to the list after I posted to a
message board, seeking FK fans.) I must admit to
being confused about the whole War business...I'm not
even sure to which faction I'd belong! Well, okay, I
am a Nick and Natpacker for sure, with elements of
Dark Knightie-ness, but what, exactly, does a war
entail? I am confused!

I'm not sure if this chunk is complete. The is no wrap up party/event, and
I know I wrote my own "leaving Toronto story" which isn't in the file...

YKYBWTMFKW.... you're watching a show on the History Channel called "The
Most" and they are doing something about a shrine in India where the sacred
animal are rats. Thousands, tens of thousands rats hang around where they are
cared for and worshipped. And you think about Screed, and how he'd love it
there. But would he respect the religion? Would he sneak a few here and there
figuring no one would miss them?

This is for Steph the ftp archiver.

I'm setting up my first web page and would like to know if I can link to my
stories on the ftp site, and how to go about it.

I responded to Judy herself on this, but wanted to let everyone know if they
want to do the same thing let me know and I will tell you how. Also, I am going
to try to start renaming some of the files. A lot of the files I got from the
old ftp site don't have "txt" extensions on them. They have extensions that
reflect the name of the writer and some systems won't know how to open them. I
am starting to change them so If I know you are going to put links to them on
your site I will go ahead and change those first.

I'll let you know when I"m back and caught up. In the meantime, I'm not
ignoring you. I'm just sick.

Interesting. I bet this would make a good fanfic :)

Oh no, now I have a hilarious image of Screed and Nick in India - Nick going
for the cows, Screed for the rats.

But remember, these would be SACRED cows and rats. Talk about indigestion if
the snack didn't do more harm than that to our favorite vamps.

Subject: Admin: let's use war topic

I wasn't clear in my first message and this is my first time back online for
long since I got sick. Anyway, please use war:

at the beginning of your subject header if you want to talk about war. The
word war must be at the beginning of the line and _MUST_ have the colon
after it. The colon is what tells the machine that war is a topic.

Now, here's how to set your options for war on Forkni-l and Fkfic-l.

send a message to "listserv@l......." with no subject, no signature and
the text

"set forkni-l topics:+war"

For Fkfic-l, just put that name in place of Forkni-l.

To set your options so you don't get war, the command is

"set forkni-l topics:-war"

DON'T USE QUOTATION MARKS ANYWHERE. I have them here only so the listserv
will accept this message from me.

I highly recommend cutting and pasting so that you get the command right.

If you can't get it to work, please write to Don Fasig,phase3@g......., and
put the word help in the subject line.

Subject: War: Rules aren't ready yet

The rules, such as they are, won't be formulated until a warmistress/master
is picked (I've written to the person who had first refusal but so far have
not had a response.

There haven't been formal rules up til now. The list rules all apply.
Otherwise, I plan on introducing a few changes that will get us closer to
the original wars, which were less organized and allowed personal and
surprise attacks.

The idea will be that if you sign up to play and send in a permission slip,
you agree to be attacked and not to complain about it. There will be a PRIME
DIRECTIVE which says no nastiness. That is, you can dump Cheez-Whiz all over
people (the Mercs have done it), but you can't dump, say, the contents of
Sydney's badly in need of changing cat box all over them. (Yes, I have just
had to change my cats' box, why do you ask? <g>)
