I really hate to be picky, (yeah, right) but that should be Fahrenheit 451.

Hi all --

Sorry this is late, I had the guide earlier, while in the states, but the
computer I had access to ate a necessary Windows file, and all I could do
was get into DOS and rescue the data.

Not a whole lot new or different. There is one of the few things that
Deborah Duchene did, Broken Chord, a good movie.

I did see this info for LEXX, the first season, if anyone is interested.
And, no, Nigel is not in the first season.

LEXX: The Dark Zone

In the original airing, Crazy Love was the last episode of second season.
So I don't consider Close Call either *the* or *a* valid end to second
season.

> Or

I don't accept it as the official end to second season. I view the original
airing order of the second season eps as the correct one.

>Schanke finally meets LC and has a
>rather interesting interaction with him, did LaCroix whammy him or just

I think he did both. There's an "echo" effect in LC's voice at times during
his conversation with Schanke that I took to be him using the whammy
on Schanke.

> did Schanke really decide Nick is Human or just that it doesn't

Imo, Schanke was helped by LC's whammy to consider Nick human.

>It also makes it possible that LC had something to do with
>Schanke's death

I don't think LC had anything to do with Schanke's death.

> or conversely that the third season changes in LC might be

I don't think so.

>IMO Scifi made a good choice both dramatically and financially by moving
>that ep in light of how the third season began. What do you think?

I think they should have kept the original airing order. Close Call is not
a good choice dramatically, imo. (I'm not clear as to what you mean when
you say it was a good choice financially.) Crazy Love sets up a lot more
drama, imo. Nick is shown slipping back toward vampirism. Will he slip
further when third season begins? And if you think about the downward
spiral of many third season eps, Crazy Love becomes almost the start of
the trend that culminates in Last Knight.

Quite a few eps in second season were shown out of their production
order. Some of that may have been business-related (using what they
felt were the best eps for "sweeps" periods), but I think the choice to end
with Crazy Love showed deliberate thought. I think it was meant to be a
foreshadowing of the difficult times Nick would face in third season.

For those interested, this movie has another FK alumni - Julian Richings who
was in A MORE PERMANENT HELL. He also was Greg "Screed" Kramer's sidekick in
the tv series ONCE A THIEF.

By the way, this is an EXCELLENT film! It is now my favorite, I believe. A
must see for lovers of GOOD films and/or classical music.

I hadn't really considered this, but it makes a lot of sense. It would
explain why Nick and Nat seemed more estranged in 3rd season, since Nat
didn't seem to understand Nick's "needs" and Nick turned to Janette, making
him even more guilty by the start of 3rd season. Now he's betraying Nat as
well as his own mortality. Or does he feel he must do more on his own since
Nat betrayed *him* by not blowing off his, albeit limited and vague,
confession. It would also set up the reason for Nick's bringing Janette
back across in Human Factor.

The one thing that Close Call does, in a very limited way, is foreshadow the
"kinder gentler" LaCroix of 3rd season. I can imagine that was a time when
he would have killed Schanke for getting so close to the truth, or to show
Nick once again how dangerous it was for the mortals he so liked to
associate with. But, in a compromise reminiscent of Father's Day, LC merely
whammies Schanke and leaves both Nick and Janette shaking their heads in
surprise.

I spoke with Julie and she has not abandoned Something In Common. Which is
good, because I just read its prequel "Finding Peace" and was very impressed
(and a little bummed as she brings up stuff that is in my next fic. <sigh>
oh, well.)

Forgot to include this:

if you've never used one of the
egroups/onelist/yahoogroups lists, there are several
nice features that we can take advantage of.

1. Calendar, with notification features
if there's any kind of set schedule, we can put it on
the calendar (start of war, end of war, and any
planned milestones). These can also be set to send
out email reminders to all members on the list at a
specified time.

2. Database
you can create multiple databases for keeping various
info accessible to all members. Off the top of my
head, I can see a database for each faction, plus the
independents, that includes AOLIM/YahooIM/ICQ/Email
contact info.

3. Bookmarks
you can have a list of reference URLs (such as for
each faction's page)

4. Chat
there is an online chat feature, but I haven't really
used it since I prefer to use other chat programs

5. ARCHIVES!!!!
archives are stored online, easily accessible and
searchable by anyone on the list.

6. Files
if for some reason, there is a file you want to post
(maybe that computer generated pic of LC in a cow
suit??), you can put it in the files list for everyone
to see without sending it as an attachment to the
list.

7. Polls
if we have a question about some War setting that we
need to vote on for whatever reason, we can create a
poll so people can vote online. Results are avail
immediately or at the close of the poll, depending on
how it's set up.

to make things even more confuzzling, The Ratpack, though their own faction, are
also Mercs. That is when the Mercs don't throw us out h'inta the cold, dark
world wot to fend for ourselves.

I mean, how did we know digging under Merc Central would cause the building to

One thing about the Ratpack that may be of interest to newbies, we've got
tunnels all over Toronto ala Screed. We get into your cabinets, basement,
cellar, walls, attics and worse nightmares ... uhr, erase that last part. We're
the inno-cent types, we h'are!

And remember about the Ratpack, if you see one of us, there's at least three
