Which is why, since Last Knight seemed so out of character for most of them
(except Nick, it seemed way too "in character for him), my theory is still
that LK was somebody's bad dream. Think about it. The episode has so many
dreamlike qualities. Nick could have easily fallen asleep in the hospital by
Tracy's beside. Nat, well, assuming you take it past that point and Nick
actually bit her, she could have lost consciousness but not be dead. So it
could be her nightmare. It could be Tracy's nightmare as she lies in the
hospital bed. Pick any one of those.

I have a sneaky feeling if the show had continued for at least one or two more
eps, LK would have been revealed to be just that.

I've been reading this conversation with great interest, as one who believes
that it could not have ended in their deaths. After all, the staff was never
shown to actually strike. They only showed the upswing.

I like all three theories, but these two in particular.

Well, we know this is an *old* debate in this fandom -- I wonder if any of us
put any new (whether probable or not) spikes on the old dinosaur. "g"

BTW, everytime, after I sent off my post, I thought, "There's something just
*too* ironical about the subject heading -- I should have changed it!!!" but I
always forgot. LOL! I actually first created the heading to address the
discussion of what would be the right circumstances for Nick to become mortal.
I'm just glad that I'm in the right place, at the right time to be a part of
this list. "g"

Greetings,
I do not know what has possessed me, but I am going to try my hand at some
fiction. I need advice on two things: I need a British English dictionary
and I need a clear to-the-point cricket rule book. Hey, don't laugh, it
could happen. I need someone to direct me to how to buy the above two.
My local bookstore looked at me as if I am nuts. Any advice would be
great.
Fangs to all,
Barbara

Oxford Pocket English Dictionary.

I believe Hoyle's has the rules for cricket, besides all the usual card and
board games. But I looked them up a number of years ago, and found them in the
Encyclopedia Brittannica in my local library.

You can probably also find them on the net. Search for cricket and see what you
find!

I couldn't agree more. This is, in a nutshell, why I don't believe that
LaCroix did kill him. Whacked him upside the head, perhaps. But after 800
years of refusing to let go of Nick, I don't think that the master
manipulator was going to let the single line "You've always been my best
friend" manipulate him into killing his creation.

I agree some more. I can see why, given the arc of the last season, the
writers decided that ending it in tragedy was a credible way to go - but it
was a worst-case scenario. And I think they ended it that way because they
were angry that the series was cancelled, and wanted to make absolutely
certain that no TV movies (etc) could ever be made. To which I say, sorry
your series was cancelled, but why take it out on us, your faithful
audience? I am glad at least that Sony refused to let them kill off Nat &
Nick for certain in the final episode. That way we can treat the ending as
a cliff-hanger, and continue to believe ... though I admit it's difficult
...

Sorry, Laurie. You're still gonna have to share him with me. <G>

I thought it was the producers or director that ultimately decided to end it
without a clear-cut result. Or did Sony tell them to do that at the last
minute?

This, while interesting, probably is not true. When you are writing for a
series, you have bosses too. You can't just jot something down and have it
accepted to air. Producers, tv execs, sometimes directors and even stars have
their own say.

And there was concern that a series in which the characters die would not do
well in syndication. If I recall, and I could be wrong, originally we were
suppose to see the stake come down or something along those lines. THere was a
last minute change having to do with the syndication possibilities.

<< To which I say, sorry

audience?>>
Why blame the writers who were probably following orders? WRiters are not the
rulers of series, tv execs are - and they are sometimes at the mercy of
advertisers (though I doubt this was the case with FK).

<< That way we can treat the ending as
a cliff-hanger, and continue to believe ... though I admit it's difficult>>
I see it as a cliff-hanger too. THere's many scenerios that could come from that
ending. That's why LK never really upset me all that much.

Besides, as any Ratpacker knows, Screed wuz jest takin' a bit o' a nap h'after
Fever, dug 'imself h'up, an' rushed h'in ta yank the stake from LaCroix before
'e put the cross o'er on 'is Natsie Ratsie.
