LOL! Even my governor admitted to watching that show, but then I'm from MN.
Have to say I never saw a complete episode, ran across it once while channel
surfing and that was it. I don't watch much TV anymore.

In the end, it would probably be down to LC and Nick. Now who would survive,
of course? Definately a close call. But I think that Nick would win. <g>
You can't go wrong with those good looks.

Would such a story be admissable under the current fkfic-l rules?

I believe than using a real person in a story is NOT allowed unless
you have written permission from that individual. Since I doubt that
any forkni listmember knows any of them (from 'Survivor') personally,
obtaining permission would seem unlikely.

However, I was wondering (re the xover idea) if it would be
acceptable to use 'imitations' of their names? For example
a manipulative character named Mitch, a crumudgenly individual
by the name of Moody, a obnoxiously plain speaking female named
Lou and Nellie who came in 2nd behind 'Mitch'? Or would doing
even that leave PSU open to potential lawsuits?

Arrgh. I never watched the show, but ever since it ended it seems to be

We also hope to regroup the Dark Knightie resources which include a wild run of

Knight School
Episode: 109 I Will Repay
Prerequisites: None

Ritchie stares at his car, that is obviously broke and Nat arrives to bring
him to the station.

The bad guy is leaving then, and some uniforms drag in a perp.

A woman in red is obviously a witness to something and they're trying to
talk her into testifying against him.

The perp grabs a uniforms gun and holds her hostage. There is a brief
standoff and Nick tries to talk him out of doing anything rash. Ritchie
walks in the door and makes a grab for the guy, getting shot in the process.
Nat hurries into the station and sees Ritchie, wounded on the floor.

Later, Nat is at Ritchie's bedside. He is comatose. Nick expresses his
regret. Nat is really torn up and wants Nick to leave her alone. His wife
(Sarah) and daughter arrive to keep a bedside vigil, but there is no
response from Ritchie.

Nick shows up and listens to Nat talking to the comatose Ritchie, and offers
to take her home. Ritchie's eyes flutter and they open. He appears
conscious, but tired. "What hit me?"

Nick: "A 38 caliber truck, don't worry, we got the guy's plate number."

There's a brief period of happiness, and Ritchie sleeps again.

Nick heads home in his caddy and flashes back to a time when a woman was
being chased by men with rape in their hearts. They unclothe her and
discover she's a leper; in their fear they hit her and she passes out. Back
at home, playing "Nick's Piano Theme", he remembers finding this woman on
the beach.

Nat comes to the loft and expresses her grief over Ritchie's probable
impending death; she tries to get Nick to make him a vampire. Nick refuses.
She tries to minimize the 'bad things' about being a vampire and asks again.
Nick is torn, he knows Ritchie is a good man, but he doesn't want to bring
anyone else into his world, his hell. "The life I can give him is worse
than death, Nat."

She gets upset and leaves. He broods some more, remembering rescuing the
leper woman (Elizabeth), offering her immortality instead of her own
impending death. She thinks he's teasing her, but he persists. "But you
must become what I am...you must become a vampire."

Nick goes to the Raven to talk to Janette, asking her if she has ever made a
vampire. She says she is not the mothering type and has never been able to
stop in time. He says the one he's thinking of being over is a good
man...and she warns him not to, the bond that will intertwine them forever
and all that. She compares it to his link to LaCroix and Nick brushes it
off.

At the bullpen, Schanke arrives arms full of folders, and tells Nick that
their witness, Vanessa, won't testify against the bad guy anymore.

Nat gets the news that they don't think Ritchie's going to make it,
convincing Nat that Nick is the only one that can save him. Nick shows up
and asks how he is.

Flashback: Nick makes the girl promise to do what he asks...she promises and
he makes her immortal.

In the present, the life monitors start to dip. Nick considers
this...equating it with his previous attempt. He vamps out, startling Nat
and sinks his fangs into Ritchie's neck.

The monitors completely flatten. Nat, thinking he's really gone for good
now, gets really upset at Nick, "When was the last time you tried to do
this?"

Then the monitor bleeps once, and flat lines again. "You'll get one of
those every ten minutes..." Nick says.

Suddenly realizing they need to get him out of there, Nat tries to wheel him
out with Nick's help. They are confronted with a doctor from the organ
donor program, "This man's a donor."

Nick's quick thinking, "He changed his mind."

A few days later, they tell Sarah that he's really alive; she is completely
incredulous. Ritchie calls from upstairs and Nick ushers Nat and Sarah out
so he can feed his new fledgling.

Upstairs, Nick watches Ritchie and flashes back to the girl, waking and
discovering she's been cured...and that she hungers. He promises to teach
her how to hunt, and offers him repayment with her body, which he refuses.

Back at the loft, Ritchie wakes up with first hunger and Nick gives him a
bottle, which he sucks down. Nick flashes back to LaCroix after his own
creation...

Nick tells Ritchie about the things that can hurt and kill him. Ritchie
laughs and doesn't believe him. Nick tells him to get some rest since the
sun's coming up.

Nick flashes to the girl again, seeing her kill the ones who tried to rape
her and says to Ritchie, "Don't make me sorry."

Somehow, someway, Ritchie dreamed of the bad guy, holding the girl who was
going to testify hostage. He wakes up and calls Sarah. She's shocked at
hearing his voice, and they talk. After awhile, they hang up and Ritchie
turns the TV on. The news comes on and confirms Ritchie's dream, about the
bad guy, Anthony, getting away with his crimes. In a rage, Ritchie vamps
out and takes off, flying through the city.

He finds a man attempting to rape a woman and stops him, taking him as
dinner and leaving the woman as a witness.

Nick and Schanke are driving through town and they get a call about the
homicide, and Nick starts to get a *really* bad feeling. The woman witness
says the guy that killed him did it with his teeth.

Hoping it's not Ritchie, but thinking it might be, Nick goes to the Raven
and makes sure everyone else has not been having any fast food (as opposed
to the slow food in the bottles). She tells him no and berates him for
bringing the man over.

Anthony (TBGW) is interrogating the woman who was going to testify, when the
door opens and Ritchie stands there in the doorway. They start to shoot him
and he just laughs, fangs blaring and eyes glowing. He attacks.

Back in the caddy, Nick flashes back to the woman, finally deciding that her
search for revenge will be a detriment...

Nick arrives at the interrogation room and sees bodies everywhere.

Later at the loft, Nat is incredulous but she accepts that he did it.
Ritchie shows up and tries to make Nick take the blame for making him what
he his.

In Nick's flashback, he destroys the girl in fire.

Ritchie taunts Nick about his powers, justifying his vigilantism. Sarah
arrives and Ritchie tries to get her to be a snack. Nat pulls Sarah away
and Ritchie attacks Nick. They fight and Ritchie presses Nick's face onto
Joan's cross, burning it. They fight some more and Nat picks up the cross
to defend against the now attacking Ritchie. Nick attacks Ritchie with a
broken table leg and pushes him into sunlight. He vaporizes.

Nick hypnotizes Sarah into forgetting Ritchie was ever a vampire, and that
she didn't see anything unusual. Nick's face is covered with a bandage
where he was burned. Sarah asks about it and then brushes it off. She
accepts that he's dead and Nick contemplates his flashback, and burying his
progeny.

He does, but we don't find that out until season 2... does he do it well? No

 2. What do you think the major cause of Ritchie's downfall was?

he was a prosecutor and was always trying to 'rescue' people.... I think that
was what he was still trying to do, except he did not have the control to
simply whammy them into confessing or something like that. Instead, he went
on a smorgasboard hunt!

 3. What do you think will happen when Sarah's hypno-suggestion wears off?
(He's got a bad track record there, too.)

hopefully she'll think it was a bad dream... otherwise I see a padded room in
her future because the likelihood of anyone believing her is pretty low
(other than Enforcers... who would not take kindly to her remembering what
she saw)

 4. Why didn't Nick use up some of that sick time and properly take care of
 his new charge?

Lack of common sense? Since he's never succeeded, maybe he 'forgot' how much
supervision would be needed.

 5. Do you think LaCroix knew about this?
Remember at this time, LaCroix is off nursing wounds suffered at Nick's
hand.... I think that yes, he knew, but no, he was not about to show up and
help.... >>

Not that we know of. As Nigel said about this at a con, he's not ready to be
a parent. :)
>
>2. What do you think the major cause of Ritchie's downfall was?

Ahm, actually he's referred to as Richie only by Nat. Everybody else says
Richard. Whatever he's called, I think he had good intentions until he got
the equivalent of drunk on first live blood.
>
>3. What do you think will happen when Sarah's hypno-suggestion wears off?

I don't know if it will, but ... I cringe every time I hear the line about
telling Amy (their daughter) that "her father's death was something God
wanted." Right, Sarah. Yeah, tell her that and then wonder why she leaves
your church as soon as she's old enough and refuses to go near it or any
other religion. She may eventually find her way to one of the religions
where the deity is Goddess, or where there is no focus on a deity. But is
that what you want? In the meantime, watch her turn into a juvenile
delinquent because she's so angry with God and all other forms of authority,
including maybe yours. What on earth were the writers thinking of? <shakes
head>

 >4. Why didn't Nick use up some of that sick time and properly take care of

Because his batch wasn't fully baked in the kiln? :) i.e., he's a brick. A
lovable brick, but finest quality Flemish (well, close, Brabantian) bond
indeed.

Maybe. He probably figured it would be amusing to watch Nick try to clean
up. Sort of like making the kid who promises to take care of the new puppy
deliver on the promise.

True, so that does rule out the actual participants.

From what I know of libel law, you'd have to completely make up characters.
Changing someone's name but leaving them clearly recognizable has allowed
them to win libel suits. OTOH, if you did it in the form of parody, the real
names would probably be acceptable. When Jerry Falwell sued over his real
name being used in a humorous satire in which the situation was obscene, he
lost. The judge held that parody and satire were exempt under freedom of
speech. BUT -- and this is important -- PSU probably wouldn't want to spend
the money to keep us. So, please don't do the crossover with recognizable
versions of the real people.

Thanks.

I agree with McLisa here but did have a YBWTMFK moment while reading her
opinion...

"Amy, your father is dead because Nick Knight turned him into a vampire. Your
father, well, went a bit crazy so he got fried in a beam of light." So Amy grows
up with a vengence against vampires and becomes...

AMY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER!

<snip> The FK Survivor show!! Who will survive?<snip>

I posted a FK/Survivor xover ditty called 'Outlast' back in June (like, before Rich
revealed his true self by getting naked). In keeping with FKFIC-L rules, the non-FK
people on the island were not named or characterized in any detail.

It's archived at http://www.geocities.com/~br1035/fk/forever.html

You can probably guess which episode inspired it.

Elsewhere, one person commented that I named one of the Fanfic Fairies in
my Conversion Day thingee 'Rich.' <eg>

Ummm, she'll remember everything and have LOTS of questions.

He can't take sick time except for *immediate* family and until Richard
was brought across he wasn't really immediate family.

Don't think so. He was still off somewhere licking his wounds from
having been almost shishkebobbed in DKII.
