I'm walking down the beverage aisle of my local Publix when I happen to
see a display of sparkling water.

*LaCroix* sparkling water.

Hmmm.

Has anyone else seen this? just wondering...

Okay...It's my first day of 2nd semester lectures a few weeks ago...I am
taking Roman history;)

I walk in, sit down. The lecturer walks in...black shirt, tall, balding,
greying, buzzcut...my mouth
falls open like an idiot.

Suffice to say Roman History is my favourite paper.;)

Yeah, I almost picked it up last night at my local store but all they had was
lemon flavor. Not my favorite.

I was happy to see Ger mentioned in the Saint Paul Pioneer Press book review
section on Sunday, August 6.

In a review of new books on tape, the reviewer, David Tarrant of the Dallas
Morning News, revews "Great American Suspense: 5 Unabridged Classics," published
by Audio Partners. The review reads:

===========
Long before Stephen King, there were the classic pioneers of American suspense
from the 19th century: Edgar Allan Poe, Robert W. Chambers, Nathaniel Hawthorne,
F. Marion Crawford, and Ambrose Bierce.

Those authors are brought together in this anthology, which includes Bierce's
"An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge," one of the most famous short stories
written. A masterpiece of timing, the story depicts the scene of a Civil War
prisoner awaiting his execution by hanging. Hawthorne's "Ethan Brnad" is a
haunting encounter with a man who has gone off to search for the Unpardonable
Sin and returns to tell a strange tale.

Welsh actor Geraint Wyn Davies reads each tale with a crisp, clean, classical
performance.
============

This is the new reissue of "Forebodings" that Ger did for Tangled Web a couple
of years ago.

According to my dictionary, either one would work:

rood: 'a cross or crucifix' (in honour of LaCroix?)
or rook: a castle in chess. (Got tired of that weird pattern knights
have?)

On my way to Bridging the Knight in 97, I was in a stop over in Minn. The
Delta lounge there gave out Lacroix sparking water to guests. I took two
extra and gave them to Nigel at Bridging. He was quite amused.

Diane,
Your story is so funny, you had me in tears. I wonder what Nick had to
do/promise to get LC to Dr. Frodel's. However, once all of this is over
LC should get to eat him. << LC: Will not eat the psychiatrist... Will

I've tried a couple of times now to find the JADFE list at eGroups to join
it, and both times the search has come up empty. Can someone please point me
in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

FWIW, LaCroix water is bottled, I believe, in Wisconsin, and is very common here
in Minnesota. However, it's pronounced "Lacroy" -- we're not too good at
pronouncing French here in the Land of Lakes. Fer instance, it's Saint Croy
(St. Croix), Lackyparl (Lac Qui Parle), and Prairiedesheen (Prairie du Chien).
Ouch! You'd think we'd be better at it than that -- after all, our state motto is
"L'Etoile du Nord." <g>

That's the way the second season of FK was promoted by the indy tv station in
Dallas-Fort Worth. I cringed every time I heard the promo, but, wot the 'ell,
they picked up second season, so I was a happy camper. :-) French with a
Texas accent ...

My understanding is that the makers of the sparkling water in question
pronounce it "LaCroy", like Nigel did in the flashback where Nick was a
Chicago cop in the '60's: "LaCroy, Internal Affairs". (w/ Chicago accent)
