Vengeance is Mine by Vickie Holt

Great Job Vickie!!

I just finished reading this charity novel and cannot rave about it
enough. It is 128 pages, single spaced on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

The story line is very strong with Nick, Tracy, and Vachon. Screed gets
his 15 minutes of fame, so to speak; and Tracy gets to put her father in
his place.

The plot is strong, well thought out, and flows very well. This is a must
to have for all FK fans, especially Dark Perks.

2. Hey when it gets 20 to 30 below in the winter where you live (I live in
Minnesota), you're ready for ANY kind of soup.

Posting with web mistress's permission.

The short version: I am a newbie. I have a fic arc I am writing for FK. I
need a beta.

The long version: It's pretty well formed now, and I have part one done for
release (sadly, I write in arcs). The grammar is good, but my eyes are only
so good, and I don't believe any soul should trust themselves as the only
beta. (Plus there's that littlwe 'I missed one or two eps' syndrome. Lord
forbid I get something wrong. I'd feel really stupid.).

The tired version: Eyes, hurt...arrrrgh.....

I am not new to fic. I usually write HL fic. I am sucked into FK.
Must...write...fic....arrr...if you are interested, please check out my page
if you are interested in that sort of thing.

I wrote this to Marg and to several other good friends, she suggested
I share it with the list. It makes me a bit nervous but here goes:
I watched Crazy Love and Baby Baby today, Oh Baby Baby! I
never realised how tense those two shows are and how sexy Ger was in
them and that Last Love scene with Serena, that was him in a flash
back and not the guy she was with. I'd only seen it once I think and
never caught that. wow! And I thought I wouldn't enjoy either one.

Don't you think there is a climax there without the bite. Sorry this
isn't my usual frame of mind after FK watchig but these two got to me
 :)= Whew!!!
These two shows were hot.

This seemed to be the beginning of the end for the search for
mortality for Nick. I think he kind of gave up here and started a
back wards spiral and that he never tryly loved Natalie. They
werejust good friends. I know Be My Valentine comes after but I
think his heart really was going in a different direction at this
point.

Well so much for my thoughts today.

I love these two eps, as well! And in Crazy Love, when a troubled Nick
tries to tell Nat that he understands the crazed killer, that he felt
needs, and he looked so desperate, and Nat just cuts him off. She tells him
that he doesn't have those needs any more, end of story. Then he turns to
Janette... some folks see this as he fault, that he can't be "true" to Nat,
but I always feel that she pushed him away. She couldn't understand his
true nature. I think this is probably the best ep in the series for
Immortal Beloveds...

As for Baby, Baby, I always wished Nick would have told Serena off. I
didn't feel sorry for her. I figure, she tried to use Nick to give her a
baby without commitment. She probably would have made a lousy mom. He
misunderstood, and never meant to hurt her. Also, Schenke makes some
comment about her being such a "looker"... I couldn't see it. But, what I
got from the ep that I missed the first time, was that Serena might have got
the urge to become mortal again from her master. Maybe he passed his quest
on to her through the blood? Maybe it wasn't his fault so much that she was
a vampire, but it was his fault that she was a dissatisfied one.

Just my two cents.

I know a lot of people have commented on the fact that they didn't see Serena
as "a looker." I myself thought she was gorgeous, the way Marlene Dietrich was
gorgeous. She exuded such confident sensuality, she seemed to me to be very
much a liberated, intelligent woman of the Twenties. (Of course, she didn't
quite catch on that Nick wasn't human, but who believes in vampires, anyway? <g>)

I have a friend who works construction as a master carpenter, and she has that
same sardonic, f* you attitude towards men. Serena as a welder was perfect --
do you think any men on that crew gave her any crap? She would be able to cut
them down with one glance. Add in the whiskey-and-cigarettes voice, and you
have some inspired casting.

Oh! I just thought of something. The FBs are set in Paris (I think), and it's
just after WWI. Remember that an entire generation of young men in France and
England (and, I assume, Germany) were wiped out in the trenches, or were
seriously disabled, leaving an entire generation of young women without
husbands or fiancees, with scant prospects in the future. Serena could have
lost her love in the war. And the extreme stupidity of that war could have
kindled her distain for and bitterness towards men, as the creators of
world-wide disaster and her own personal losses and disappointments.

Uh-oh -- shouldn't try amateur psychology this early in the morning.
Must...get...more...tea....

"I myself thought she was gorgeous, the way Marlene Dietrich was gorgeous. She

All I know is that this was one of the *most* sensuous episodes of the whole
series! Both Nick and Serena radiated sexual energy and both came across as
consumate sexual predators. And that scene at the end when Nick just turns his
back, while his "daughter" is consuming her lover behind him -- does the word
"erotic" come to anyone else's mind? And LaCroix seemed to be enjoying himself
during the whole episode -- think he was appreciating the "sexual sizzle" in the
air?

"Oh! I just thought of something. The FBs are set in Paris (I think), and it's

Nancy, I think this is an excellent analysis of the character and her
motivations! And it makes me think how much more of a "catch" Nick must have
seemed -- not only whole and healthy, but handsome and debonair and apparently
untouched by the war.

Back to Baby Baby, why would she think that it would be instantaneous.
It takes time for the little swimmers to get where they are going. I
would think a pregnant Vampire would gradually become human as she
became more pregnant. Hormonal changes an all. Nick sure had a losing
streak when chosing candidates for "offspring". He didn't communicate
with them well and he didn't know them well enough to know if they
could handle the power of the vampire.

Do you think LaCroix with held a lot of training from Nick to keep him
more under his power? Or was it becasue Nick turned away so fast that
he just wasn't able to give him the proper training.

I'm so full of questions. This list is wonderful. Hope you can all
put up with my "ignorant newness."

For those of you who know the series in context. Does the taking of
blood from Nat's brother Richard send him in a different direction.
I'd never seen most of the first season untila few weeks ago and Nick
is so close to human and then he changes and goes back so much.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AND DISTRIBUTION

TO SCIENCE FICTION EDITORS, WEBMASTERS, DEALERS AND FANS

SCIENCE FICTION CELEBRITIES AND FANS TO FIGHT AIDS IN AFRICA AT
CHARITY
EVENT; PRE-REGISTRATION TO END AUGUST 1

Laguna Hills, CA, 22 July 2000 -- The Ulysses Foundation is proud to
announce Crusade for a Cure: A Call to Arms against AIDS, a science
fiction charity event to support HIV prevention and treatment in
Africa. Join the Ulysses Foundation and celebrity guests from
Babylon 5, Crusade, and other science fiction shows at the
Doubletree Hotel, in Costa Mesa, California, September 15-17, 2000
at a benefit for Search for a Cure, a non-profit organization that
works to make HIV treatments available to African nations. Prices
for this event will remain at low pre-registration rates until
August 1.

"It's time to find a cure for AIDS, and it's time to help other
countries stop the heartbreaking tragedy this disease has caused
them," said Crusade for a Cure guest, Babylon 5's ISN news anchor,
Maggie Egan. "Now is the time to take action, to be causative.
Together we must KNOW without a DOUBT, that it is our unified and
unyielding commitment to find a cure for AIDS that will end this
sorrow. Please join us in this CELEBRATION of life."

AIDS is wreaking devastation on the African continent. 9,000
Africans die every day from complications of HIV. There are 10
million "AIDS orphans." Science fiction convention-goers spend
hundreds of dollars every year on autographs, memorabilia and for
the chance to meet their favorite celebrities. Crusade for a Cure
offers genre fiction fans the chance to spend a great weekend in the
luxurious Doubletree Hotel, mingling with friends and celebrity
guests and to put their entertainment dollars towards a worthy
cause.

"Crusade for a Cure promises to be fabulous," said Alisa Schreibman,
the Foundation's President. "Our guest list is expanding daily and new
events continue to be added to the weekend's already full schedule."

The current guest list includes Wayne Alexander (Lorien, Sebastian,
Babylon 5), Stephen Austin (Pak'ma'ra Ambassador, Babylon 5), Nigel
Bennett (Prince, Lexx; Lucien LaCroix, Forever Knight), Bill Blair
(Brakhiri Priest, Babylon 5), David Allen Brooks (Max Eilerson,
Crusade), Tim Choate (Zathras, Babylon 5; Polix, Crusade), RL Dietz
(Set Dresser, Babylon 5), Carrie Dobro (Dureena Nafeel, Crusade),
Robin Atkin Downes (Byron, Morann, Babylon 5), Maggie Egan (ISN

Christopher Russo (Exeuctive Director, Babylon Park), Neely Stewart
(Executive Director, Babylon Park), Patricia Tallman (Lyta
Alexander, Babylon 5), Jeffrey Willerth (Kosh, Babylon 5), and Peter
Woodward (Galen, Crusade).

Two special events assure that Crusade for a Cure will be a truly
unique and memorable convention experience. Join us Friday night for
a Hollywood-style movie premiere for the very first West Coast
showing of Babylon Park: "Grudgematch." Get the red carpet treatment
and mingle with the entire cast and crew of "Grudgematch" before the
show, then enjoy a catered reception on the moonlit Fountain
Terrace. On Saturday dine with us in the gorgeous Catalina Ballroom
and be entertained by our celebrity guests; bid on select
memorabilia items, then stay and dance to the rhythm's of Los
Angeles' reknowned Yoruba House musicians.

A basic weekend membership for Crusade for a Cure is $55. The price
of a weekend membership plus the Premiere event is $75. Although the Gala
dinner alone is priced at $70, a weekend membership with the Gala
Dinner is $110, and a full weekend membership including both evening
events is only $125. Display tables for fan clubs and other
conventions or charity groups are free of charge, but no memberships
are included. Tables for memorabilia dealers are priced at $125 for
the first table including two basic memberships; additional tables
are $90 and include one basic membership. After August 1, these
prices WILL go up, so purchase your memberships today!
