What happened was that listserv software can't handle pictures, so gibberish
appears in most people's mailers instead of the picture. I didn't realize
the picture wasn't on a website to which we were pointed, because I have my
mailer set to ignore pictures. (There have been viruses transmitted that
way.)

You get a list of funny bumper stickers in email, and this one:

Necrophillia: That Uncontrollable Urge To Crack Open A Cold One.

immediately puts you in mind of Nat. :-) Not that she'd ever do that, but the
thought still occurred.

I don't suppose you could send me that list of bumper stickers, off list of
course ... it sounds like it would be right up my alley ....

Here's a story challenge... I don't think I've seen this crossover yet.

How about FK and Mary Poppins? What could the good Mary Poppins do for our
Nick? She certainly wouldn't be intimidated by him!

This inspiration came to me as I posted an obit to my gravehunting list for
David Tomlinson, who played the father in Mary Poppins. He just died on Friday.

On second thought, Mary Poppins and LaCroix... that might make for a more
interesting challenge! Who's game to write this one?

As Mclisa has just posted the rules, I feel I need to point out that Mary
Poppins is a book and thus we absolutely can not do cross overs with it on
FKFIC-L. We absolutely can not do cross overs with movies either, so
unfortunately it is a no-no.

(copyright issues and all that)

However, it would be a cleaver thing to do! Personally, I'd rather see Screed
with Mary Poppins - two practically perfect people.

Of COURSE Screed is even more practically perfect than Mary, though I'm not sure
he qualifies as "people" <wRPg>

It was Garfield with vampire fangs attacking a hamburger. When Jim (I think
that's the cat owner's name) sees the hamburger, there are two little holes on
the top bun.
But I could only figure out two of the German words.

If they haven't updated it since 1997, maybe they will just let it expire &
then one of us could use it for a really cool website.

Right, Garfield thinks while approaching the hamburger:
'Count Cat's ghastly/grissly reign of terror continues'
in his best Bela Lugosi pose!!!

Thank you, Simone, it is so sweet and hangs now with all my FK stuff *g*

It just makes me wonder whether the General would have been as amused as
I was... I think Nat would :) though

Guys, I'm sorry, but this is couldn't be posted on Fkfic-l@l........
Mary Poppins is both a series of books (originally) and a Disney movie.
Aside from the fact that the rules specify tv shows only, Disney once
prosecuted a grandmother for unauthorized use of a character on some items
for her grandchildren, or so I understand. I know they have a pit bull
reputation for copyright protection.

Why exactly would they want to do that? I mean I've seen bunches of people do
that. Like for fanfics, websites, and other stuff. And Disney didn't do a
thing about it. I didn't know that Mary Poppins was a series of books! I just
thought it was a movie. How weird!

Check with McLisa about that one (and I'm sure she'll read this and pop in on
the conversation - hahahah), but I think even advertising it here might be a bit
risky. I'm not sure if the book series is still in copy right, but I think it
may be and literary characters are guarded. There's been professional vampire
book writers who HAVE sued for cross overs because if they allow their
characters to be used by anyone without enforcing their copyrights, the courts
might rule that the character has thus become public domain and then they'd lose
all rights to royalties - thus their means of earning a living.

We don't want that to happen to FK fan fic, I'm sure! Why... then LaCroix might
just have to get mean with us (not that some of us would mind<weg>), or get
REALLY mean and send Screed over to Screedy slurp (kiss) everyone one of us (not
that some of use would mind that either...)

<<And when is mary Poppins a booK? >>
It is a VERY classic children's book, or books as there were several. This was
way before it was a Disney movie. I can't think of the author's name off the top
of my head, though, but any good library would have them in the children's
section (or I'd hope so).

Hmmmmm.... Speaking of good library having them, I wonder if LaCroix would
secretly have copies of the Mary Poppins books hidden under his mattress.

I went to the site, and ran it thru Babelfish and basically it says "Count
Cat (untranslated's) reign of terror ends."

I'd love to receive it as well. When I got it, it was just a bunch of

(as was so brilliantly suggested) post it on a webpage and send us all
the addy.

Hey, but you -could- do the Simpsons' 'Sherri Boppins' (Yep, they ripped
off Mary, but it was a darn funny episode!) :)

Did I say "Mary Poppins?"

Never 'eard of 'er! <nudge, nudge, wink, wink>

I meant to say, "Marie Pepins," a wonderfully-sensible nanny who brings with
her a dash of whimsy and delight wherever she goes.
