I will start posting this story on FKFIC-L on June 2nd, so this is a heads-up
warning. Why a heads up? Because I've had credit cards that expired faster than
I wrote this sequal to 'Thankless Child.' That means a lot of people have either
forgotten
what happened in the old stories, or they joined the lists after they were
first posted.

TNT is currently running the basketball playoffs. And the scheduling of
games tends to be last minute enough to make any printed schedule guides
obsolete. It takes quite an effort sometimes to find out when and on what
channel we can watch our team play. "Go Pacers"

Hello, all...I have been off the list for two years, now I'm back. You may not
recognize the e-mail, so let me reveal that it's Carl Nicastro,former
"bad boy" of FK fandom, leader of the DoD and RK. It has taken two years,
changes in jobs, medication and a lot of soul-searching, but my life is
slowly back on track. I have never lost sight of my first love--Vampires!--and
am working on my first serious Goth novel(meaning, I want to get it published!).
I am also easing back into FK fandom, which, except for the DoD
and RK, I had pretty much abandoned while searching for the meaning and
purpose of life.
Having turned 44 recently, with a colon cancer test ahead of me(next month)and
much more serious grounding, I have come back "home" to be among friends.
It's nice to be back.

huge fortune invested with like an investment banker
or stock broker, somebody like that, and the guy
gets blown up in a car bomb and his son is a gambler?
and, is that the episode that has flashbacks of nick
with a sword?

In the Blood Money flashback, he used a fencing sword (was that 15th
Century?). I wish we could have seen him use that broadsword in Queen of
Harps! Kyer luvs broadswords...even if it was overly fancy for what he
should have had at the time. But what's a little historical inaccuracy
between friends? <g>

The clothes were 17th c., which makes sense once you know that Colm Feore
wore his costume from the Stratford production of Cyrano de Bergerac. OTOH,
the reference to "that young rascal" the Dauphin whom Nick has supposedly
killed after helping him extract a ransom from "his father the king" is
baloney.
No Dauphin died in his father's lifetime during the 17th c. When it did
happen, too late in the 18th c. for those clothes, the Dauphin in question
was a 50+ grandfather with gout and a history of poor health. This has
always been one of my favorite examples of TBTB's tendency to assume that
their viewers were a lot of know-nothings. The title of Dauphin for the heir
to the French throne is as unique to France as "Prince of Wales" for the
heir to the crown of England. It's not as bad as the 1066 blunder, but it's
pretty close.
Nothing in the flashback itself requires the scene to be set in France. It
could be anywhere in western Europe in the period of the clothes. A
reference to "the Prince" would have worked perfectly without causing
historical problems.
