You're very kind. I sheepishly have to admit that I didn't really know what a "filk" was till I saw I'd been nominated in that category. I just wrote it 'cause it snuck into my head during a long late-night drive, kept growing, and refused to leave except through my keyboard. Now I feel like that Moliere character who was delighted to learn that, without even knowing it, he'd been speaking in prose his whole life. Bob -- Bob Cradock cradock@s....... Subject: My recent fan fic and YKYBWTMFKW... Greetings to all, Recently I wrote a story called "Hero in the Darkness" that was very well received, and I thank everyone for their encouragement and requests for a sequel. I was working on the sequel when my computer had an accident. I backed up my email, but the backup did not work, and I did not realize it until it was too late. My sequel was in my "drafts" folder, so it is gone. :o( Perhaps it is a blessing, as I thought it was not that good anyway... So, I am working on a *new* story, it's in the planning stages. I will work on it when I can. YKYBWTMFKW... You're discussing ways to keep criminals from stealing your car...[like lojack, the club, etc] ... and you mention the best deterrent of all...the vampire in the trunk! I'm sorry to say that with exams I have been no mail for near to a month but times are a'changin'! Attn to CANADIAN list members especially: Starting May 2 I am traveling to the Maritimes from BC, I plan on doing the round trip in about 43 days. I am traveling with 4 other students (all girls, early to mid 20's)- on a student budget. We are driving an RV (overheight vehicle). We've got 4 days in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Q.C. each, as well as time in Halifax (gotta stop in Hubbards tho), St John's NFLD, PEI, Winnipeg & Regina. I need some advice, especialy for the big four cities, (my first time east of Alberta): PLEASE REPLY OFFLIST. -> places in the burbs (30 min to 45 min commute to "city" is fine) where we can park the RV and take a bus/(subway?) into town for the day.. while you are at it, which cities have subways and how much does transit cost? -> What do we see and do in your neck of the woods? Really unique things (nothing too hokey), funky neighbourhoods, historical places, giant things, scenery - short hikes are good. -> Can we get away with spending three days in any of the above cities and not miss too *too* much? We'd like one more day on Newfoundland and don;t know where to cut it from. -> places in the burbs where we can park the RV overnight (9:00 pm to about 7 am), for free. I know that places like UBC offer $3 overnight parking, Walmart is free too... (there MUST be a Walmart somewhere). We will be doing some camping (about every 5 days to dump some tanks and fill others), and lots of night driving but for the most part parking lots and roadsides will be out nightstops. [Contrary to what some people may think I KNOW that places like this exist, we have them in Vancouver and there are tons in Victoria, it the way my family has roadtripped. You know, that neighbourhood ballpark just down the street where people mght leave a car or two overnight..., if not, where is the nearest Walmart or IHOP? (dare I ask? someone with room in their driveway?)] THANK YOU!! :) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Apr 2000 21:05:37 EDT From: Phoenix348@a....... Subject: Question for Fanfic Greetings all, I seem to have misplaced my copy of the Forever Knight compendium, and; therefore, need to submit a question to the list. What was the name of the cyber-smart guy that Nick used to create his false background information? Thanks in advance to any who can assist! Larry Merlin was the vampire from Hunters (I think) who "fixes" all of Nick's present records when one of the other cops sees that his background info is all missing from his computerized file. His speech to Nick about "you should have done this righ in the first place" prompts Schanke to compare him to his accountant.
