 Howdy crew,
Made a tape for a friend, then decided to redo it on a longer running tape
so I could add some more stuff. Therefore the first tape is available, if
anyone is interested.
Has the following 2nd season eps: Queen of Harps, Close Call, Be My
Valentine, A More Permanent Hell, Blood Money. Also 1st season canadian eps
of False Witness, Cherry Blossoms, I Will Repay. This is a T-120 tape, at
SLP/EP, all edited. Second season eps are 2nd gen copies of syndie. CC is
fuzzy (poor reception that night), but watchable. First season ones are 3rd
gen at least, but still watchable. First reply gets it. Later,

Yep, Bad Blood is the one with Jack the Ripper. It's called Bad Blood
because LC found out that there is 'bad blood' by drinking Jack the
Ripper's blood - his blood was filled with too much evil. The vampire hunter
had been hunting for vampires for a long time because he is a half vampire -
was bitten by a vampire when he was a lad but never drank the blood of a
vampire.

I just saw your tape offer. Are they still available? I would like
any of the tapes (episodes) that you mentioned as I have only seen
part of the second season and all of the third.

Please let me know. I will not be signed on again until Monday as
my net access is only through work.

Hope you still have them.

Okay all you budding P. N. Elrod's, LISTEN UP! I'm offering my services
as a story editor. As opposed to a beta-reader (who is the humble
supplicant, timidly offering words of advice), an editor has the
authority (and duty) to spell check, proof read, reformat AND remove or
alter text to improve the readability of the story. He also checks for
continuity errors, and provides critical commentary on both content and
style.

As an additional service for those of you whose mail programs mangle
your story upon posting, I can forward your edited story to the list
(perhaps even anonymously, as ROSEBUD did for NatLamb's ECFIC-L story in
"Seduction of the Diligent" <Hi Susan!>). Best of all, I can work in
secret, so you can amaze and astound your friends with your brilliant
prose. All for virtual chocolate and a few small words of heartfelt
gratitude. 9;-)

My qualifications are as follows: an offline mail-reader, a text editor
with built in spell checker, a dictionary, a thesaurus, and a copy of
"Strunk and Whites Elements of Style". Oh yes, I read a humongous amount
of fanfic, and have plenty of time. =8^]=

I know that some people put together a paper zine from the stories on
the FKFIC-L list. I'm wondering about the feasibility of producing an
electronic edition (ie: a ZIP compressed archive of ASCII text files)
that could be distributed as file attachments to e-mail messages, or on
diskette at conventions or through the mail. It would be a lot cheaper
and faster to e-mail a distribution list, or to copy (and maybe mail)
diskettes, and most platforms have (or can get) a ZIP compatible de-
archiver. I mean, why kill trees for something that's already digital.
And remember, the original purpose of fanzines was to distribute fan
fiction as widely as possible.

The difference between this and the ftp archives is the editorial
selection process; instead of fishing around and hoping to find some-
thing good, someone else will have already culled the wheat from the
chaff. There could even be a "News and Reviews" column with a synopsis
of FK related events since the last issue, including SOS-FK, convention
reports, and cast sightings. And if hardcopy is desired, the readers can
print it off themselves (at a much reduced cost).

To quote Kevin Matsumoto, "All comments welcome, constructive criticisms
will be accepted with gratitude, Compliments with stunned silence and
Flames Grudgingly ignored.:>"

 - the flatliner machine from "Near Death"
 - a spear from an "Ashes to Ashes" flashback
 - several scripts
 - items from Nigel's wardrobe (shirts, etc.)
 - copies of the book "The Killing Mind" from "Jane Doe" (well,
the dust jacket of the book says "The Killing Mind," anyway,
and apparently on the inside flap of the dust jacket there
is some information about Jordan Manning) :-)
 - and much more!

AMy, it is BAD BLOOD. The vampire hunter comes to Toronto after the Jack the
Ripper vampire rips apart a couple of people. He's been hunting him for
quite a while. The flashback in Bad Blood is when LaCroix brings Jack the
Ripper across. Both themes are in this one episode.

There are chat loops for Vaqueras, N&Natpackers, Knighties as far as I know,
and ofcourse SKL. I agree, to discuss the show this is the forum for it. The
chat loops are just for disucssions of whatever the chat loop is about in
all kinds of forums and they do it on the loop so they don't upset anyone
here if a lot of the discussions go a little awol...which they do quite
often. When you sign on to a chat loop you know you're in for lots of mail
(tho not always and lots of craziness, so only those into that get on and
that way we don't annoy those who have to pay by the line over here on

Oh, I agree with this. I loved the second season primarily because he seemed
to be a lot happier. He was happy with Schanke, happy with his work towards
mortaliy, happy with his relationship with Natalie (up until BMV) actually
cracking a few jokes here and there with Schanke and Nat. But you know,
folks complained during the second season that Nick wasn't "angsting" enough
and that drove me crazy. I thought there was enough in there without making
it feel like that's all he had. Then the third season came along where he
(and everyone else) were totally miserable thru the entire thing until LK
was almost necessary.

Subject: Pedal for Forever Knight!

In the long and venerable tradition of fan fundraising events....
(And just in case you were wondering what happened to the bike tour...)

Announcing the Forever Knight Charity Bike Tour!
------------------------------------------------
Just the FAQs...

1. What is this thing?
The FK Charity Bike Tour, also known as "Pedal for Forever Knight," is a
fundraising ride organized by a few FK fans who also like to cycle. The
idea for the bike tour was hatched way back in January, in the early days
of the SOS-FK campaign. It is intended to raise money for one of the
fan-organized charity drives. The participants will be covering their
own expenses (and/or mooching off of friends), so donations and pledges
will all go 100% to the charity.

2. Where and when is the ride?
The tour will go from Niagara Falls to Toronto, Ontario, from August
1-2, 1996. The first day will start at the spectacular Niagara Falls
(obligatory comments: Oooh! Aaaah! It's so *big*! And *loud*! And
*wet*!), coast down the impressive Niagara Escarpment, and then meander
through the beautiful, rural Niagara Peninsula. The second day will go
around the tip of Lake Ontario (trying to avoid as much urban traffic as
possible) to end up just west of Toronto.

The official end point for the tour will be the Regal Constellation
Hotel, home of the Toronto Trek convention and the Forever Knight
Mini-Con (aka "The Search For Blood") which will take place August 2-4,
1996. Information about this con has already been posted to FORKNI-L and
elsewhere on the internet, but you can also get some info by going to the
charity bike tour web page:

    http://assets.wharton.upenn.edu/~percy91/FKtour.html

3. Why are you guys doing this?
   (a) To raise money and (b) to have fun!

4. Why should I pledge or send a donation?
There are many reasons you might want to contribute to the charity bike
tour. Here are just a few:

  - The charity is a good cause. All contributions will go to the
pediatric AIDS research program of Children's Hospital Foundation. This
is an excellent organization and FK fans have a long tradition of
supporting this cause through the GWD fan club. And they didn't make me
fill out piles of forms to raise money for them. <g>
  - You are amused by the idea that Allison will be trying to participate
in the upcoming fanfic war while simultaneously finalizing the route for
this tour. So I'll be riding my bike in Ontario both in fiction and in
Real Life (tm).
  - You think the riders are nuts and believe in supporting nutty people
  - The Pin! All those who send a donation of at least $5 to the charity
bike tour will receive a "Pedal for Forever Knight Supporter" pin. Heck,
if you send more than $20, we'll send you several pins if you so desire!
:^) This pin, which resembles the FK affiliation pins, has a nice Toronto
skyline/bicycle graphic designed by Susan Garrett. You can see the graphic
by going to the bike tour web page.

5. Hey, *I* want to ride in this thing!
Great! Our little group is looking for additional riders. Please
e-mail me *off-list* at <percy91@w.......> if you're interested
in joining the ride!
Riders so far (and where they're from): Allison Percy (PA), Michelle
Mark (VA), and John Maxwell (NJ). And there are a couple of others
sitting on the fence trying to decide if they'll ride... There is always
room for more, though!

6. Um, I can't ride but I want to help.
Non-cyclists who want to volunteer to help can do so in a number of ways:
transporting vehicles/luggage/bikes/etc. between the starting and ending
points of the ride, providing crash space along the way, meeting the
group at pre-designated spots with food, drinks, or mechanical
assistance, etc. Once again, let me know by e-mailing me off-list at
<percy91@w.......>.

Questions? Clarifications? E-mail me or check out the bike tour web page!

Pledges? Donations? Mail a check made out to "Children's Hospital
Foundation" to: Allison Percy, 0000 Xxxxxxxx St. #000, Xxxxxxxxxxxx, PA
00000, USA. Or if you're a Cousin and feeling factional, you can send
your check (still made out to "Children's Hospital Foundation") to Cousin
Michelle Mark. E-mail her at <Rainbow2@a.......> to get her snail-mail
address. ;^)

All the riders will be hitting up their friends, families, and local bike
clubs for additional donations. Feel free to collect checks from friends
and co-workers too! Tell them it's for a good cause! :^)

Yes it's called using what you got available. I noticed a lot of nonsense (
not this is not nonsense, don't flame me!) discussion among xfiles fans about
the significance of why a scene was done a certain way blah, blah. The
business of filming dictates how things appear on screen. If you look closely
you'll see the staircase in BMV was recycled in about 6 other episode
flashbacks to the point I was getting tired of seeing the damn thing. The sun
painting that shows up in AtA was in the background in the PILOT "Dark
Knight". Talk about recycling!
That's why you see things done the way they are on TV. Practically not some
hidden meaning.

Wow! Look at the discussion my little YKYB has caused.

Saw part of Arachniphobia (sp?) on t.v. last night. Maybe there were some
nasty ol' spiders crawling around by the horses. Or maybe the horses
just wanted to hurry up and get home to the barn because they had some
*special* plans for that night. :-)

Actually, I've always seen FK as urban fantasy (along with Mercedes
Lackey's Di Tregarde stuff, and Katherine Kurtz's Adept stories among
others) rather than as horror. The difference between fantasy and
straight horror seems to be that horror ends with the beastie killed,
while urban fantasy focuses on the healing of the wrongs the beastie
committed. For the most part, FK seemed to strive for healing of sorts.

Additionally, FK was never horror to me because I could actually watch it
after dark. To this day, I can't watch Twilight Zone because it weirds
me out too much, and I have refused to see the Exorcist under any
circumstances.

I'm sorry to bother the list with this but I need help also. This is meant for
Jeanette only. I have sent you e-mail but obviously you have not received any
of it. I have not received the Nightcrawler Tape yet. What's the problem????

Wow! I'm still behind in my mail, but I can't believe just how many replies
I've received, on the issue of Cousin pins.

Good grief!

Here are replies to several respondents...long post warning ahead.

(Sorry if I end up including too many lines...in some cases here, removing a
line or two might end up taking the original text, too much out of context).

Hmmm.... How could I possibly have forgotten? :-) :-)

Oh well...where's that garlic-dipped piece of wet spaghetti...? Time for my
fifty lashes...

Okay, "gotcha". :-) I hadn't realised that they were separate! I thought
that Susan was making those _too_! Sorry Jamie!!! (Fifty more lashes,
maybe...)

[Jeez, one would almost get the idea that I _like_ getting whipped or
something :-) - NOT!]

Yes, that IS a lot of work, and for anyone who has never seen Susan with her
multiple bags of Affililation Pins, it IS quite a sight!

Oh goodness! I'd never suggest that Susan change what she's already done,
good grief! I and everyone else appreciate the job that she's done, so I'd
never claim otherwise.

I am kidding. I am joking here...)

Hmmm....of course, if you're first and foremost a Knightie, then how are you a
Cousin? :-)

(Hmm, after calling myself an "Honourary Knightie", one might well wonder why
I'd be daring to ask this question :-) )

Hey, I thought that that was quite funny!

Oh, pshaw! :-) It's these things that make his character so _compelling_!

This is true, but ...

Well, actually, there's another reason. Now, I feel really foolish for saying
this, but as I went to a religious high school, I hope that I have _some_
manner of an excuse here....

What am I referring to? Well, riddle me this...at my high school alma mater,
how much do you think that we students were being taught about historical
Church-sponsored persecution of other religions? If you said, "precious
little", you're absolutely right.

So....imagine my surprise when, at the time that the Cross of Lorraine design
was being discussed, several list members belonging to non-Christian religions
objected to wearing a depiction of a cross! Based upon these certain, err,
"gaps" in my historical education (worse still, I dropped history after Grade
10...), I was flabbergasted. However, after taking, how shall I put it, a
crash course in history, I eventually realised that the complaints were indeed
valid.

Still, as the design was later implemented, I imagine that the complaints were
eventually resolved, and the waters smoothed over - this is a Good Thing, to
say the least.

I know how much we hate "me too" statements, but it just had to be said -
ditto!

Cheers,
W.
