Subject: Re: BB -- Claire Gibson

Sorry, folks -- I've got to say that I think Nick killed Claire Gibson (on
the Titanic in Black Buddha 1) by attack rather than letting her drown.
Not a dream sequence as separate from a flashback -- I really don't think
TPTB were working with that much complication. What we see in an episode is
usually either *all* fantasy or *all* reality, unless the ep in question is
basing itself on the confusion of the two (and for the life of me, I can't
think of an example of that -- but then again, I am episode-deprived).

As for *why* he would have attacked and killed Claire, well, first, it sure
looks to me like she offered herself to him. Not only did she decide not to
be brought across, her comment to Nick about "living with a thousand deaths
on your head" makes it pretty obvious she had very little idea of what she
had initially asked for. He couldn't persuade her to go to the lifeboats,
and probably couldn't have carried her himself and made it safely to land.
And heck, *Nickie* sure as hell wasn't going down with the ship, that was
obvious. As someone else noted previously, he'd have needed her blood to
have the strength for that kind of long, *fast* flying.

Yes, that's right, waitress -- another two zuzim worth over here. Just put
it on my tab.

Hmmm...You have a point, there. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and the
title track are almost worthy of "Nick theme songs".

Once upon a time there was light in my life
Now there's only love in the dark,
Nothin' I can do,
A total eclipse of the heart.

Sounds just like something Nick would write.

Hamsters have long been blamed for the woes of computer network servers. On
AOL we sacrifice to the hamster gods to keep the mail up and the message
boards working. America Online has come a long way, but in the early days
when we only had 200,000 subscribers, the hamsters were severely overworked,
underfed, and some of us invested in pillow manufacturing companies because
of the hardness and rudeness of the punts.

Drawing this all back to Forever Knight... (ur, how the heck do I do
that???)

I'm new to the list, too, and I have to admit that one of the reasons I
first started watching the show regularly (just noticed it this season - I
had SEEN it in the TV Guide, but believe it or not, I thought it had
something to do with "Knight Rider," which I couldn't get far enough away
from - but then I heard about it on the Internet and decided to give it a
try- "Okay, I'll bite, I said..." sorry.) was the wonderful Toronto
locations (and the occasioanl charming Canadian accent). I'm from Rochester
myself, and used to spend many of my weekends in Toronto. It's really a
lovely city, and I quite miss it.

Now, I have a question, for those of you who've seen more than I have. In
the Forver Knight universe, how much and how often does a vampire need to
eat - er, drink? Does it vary by the individual? Was it ever made clear?

Thanks,
Serena

I agree with Laurie, Sarah, Apache, and the others who've voiced
their concerns about doing a virtual season. I think it won't work
primarily because of the potential for hurt feelings, but hey, on the
other hand, more power to you guys for dreaming this up and
undertaking it. I do hope it works because it'd be awsome if it did!

That said, I'm also worried about the increased traffic in posts and
discussion on the two lists (down from three after SPOILR's gone).
I can hardly keep up with the regular fanfic and discussion now,
much less when the virtual thing starts happening. (I can't believe
I'm suggesting that there's such a thing as Too Much FK! <g>)

Can you set up a separate e-mail loop for the virtual season, sort
of like the DEBSPLAY thing? Admittedly, I don't know how that was
set up, but I do know that it coordinated a huge group o' people and
a huge fan effort/get-together *off* the main lists. And that way,
those who want to subscribe to VRSEASN-L (or whatever you'd call
it!) could do so to their hearts' content without further impacting
the "main" lists.

Whaddaya think?

Hey we're getting it in Olympia. I (and everyone I know) had been
buzzed off by every possible person at TCI for almost 2 years on the
subject. Then a few weeks ago I went out to do my regular bitch and
complain thing with the TCI workers who had just made a trench in our
driveway (trapping our car for the 5th time in 2 months without notice) when
the worker walks up to me, puts up his hands and says "Stop, wait, you're
getting SCiFi channel!". (Is there a warning sticker on the map at TCI for
my house?). I stopped in my tracks, called TCI 's local office and had it
confirmed that Sci Fi will be on our system July 1. I then went dancing out
to say they could make me late & trash our drive any day. So hang in there,
don't give up, someday they may trash your driveway too! (Not that I like
TCI you know, but now there are compensations).

First, thanks Apache for posting those Ger interview quotes.

I don't think Nick drained those Germans in the flashback of 1966.
As Tippi said, no bloodstained lips or anything. Nick regularly
"vamped out" to catch crooks in the present day in first season
without biting them. 1966 was not that long before the present time
so he was perfectly capable of not biting those guys.

I also think that Nick's munching on Claire was a dream and not
something that happened in reality. The only valid story reason
for him to have bitten her, imo, was to bring her across as per her
Buddha wish. But we learn later in the episode that she doesn't
want to be a vampire anymore because of the deaths of people on the
Titanic. Besides that, I don't see why Nick would have had to fly
very far to get away from the sinking ship. There were ships in the
area that helped to rescue the survivors. I also can't see Nick
being so "callous" about human life as to see Claire only as a source
of energy for flight and survival.

Re: the closing of FKSPOILR. Does this mean that eps still under
spoiler protection because they haven't been repeated yet will still
need to be labelled in the subject line, "SPOILER: Name of ep" when
they are being discussed on this list? Will we have to add spoiler
space also?

Nick, care for a little blood pudding?

Maybe he could just keep it in a rack like LC does at the Raven? I mean,

Hmmmm--I'm not sure I agree he was willing to embezzle BEFORE his father's
death. Sean was worth a lot of money anyway--I think when he said "There's
more where that came from" he meant in his own personal wealth or that he
would be able to get it from his father. I don't think he counted on his
father withholding money from him. Then after his father's death, he got
into a deal with the bad guy to take some of the money from the deBrabant
foundation to pay off his debts and then discovered he was in far too deep.
That was my take on it.

Microwaving DOESN'T work but there are such animals as blood warmers.
Yes, you heard me right, blood warmers. There are several kinds, I've
used them all hundreds of times ( I am a nurse after all ). You put the
blood tubing or another specially made delivery system into the warmer
and as the blood flows from the bag to the patient it is slowly warmed
to the desired temperature. With Nick's vast wealth buying one of these
would be no problem. Maybe he should get two, just in case one has a
problem. Boy scout motto applies here.

Beth, sorry to hear that no one had two seasons worth of tapes for you.
I'm in the same boat & am also DESPERATE to see them! If you will, I'd
like to make a few suggestions to help you get what you want, in an
alternate way:

1) See if someone is willing to LEND you a few eps at a time in exchange
for something you can do for them (eg, I am beta reading stories for an
FK fan writer & formatting/printing her published stories afterwards!)
We may all be "family" on the Net, but we don't REALLY know each other yet.
So, it might be a way for you to get what you want, get to know another
fan, & establish a relationship of trust & comraderie. You can find out
all the fans in your area & perhaps offer to host/coordinate a party/fan
gathering (to watch old shows together? drink ribena? make Ger's choco
pizza? etc.). THIS is the time for us to stick together & help each
other. I would love to have a known fan group & gatherings in my area.
I'm sure many others agree!

Unless you have major $$$$$ to pay someone to copy all the eps for you.
If you do, then..

2) Spend your money better on Professionally produced tapes! Now, these
are not available yet, but if we (the many, many FK fans) get any new
shows/movies from The Powers That Be, you can bet they will want to
merchandise what ever they can to make their profits even greater
(They are ONLY in it for the $$$). Even this will take time, and is not
mutually exclusive w/suggestion #1. However, you CAN write your request
for quality 1st & 2nd season tapes to folks who may/will be providing
them for all of us (SONY SHowstuff, USA Network, SCIFI Dominion, etc.)
Their addresses can be found on the SOS-FK website, if you need.

I know this isn't what you wanted. I personally don't know HOW I'm going
to wait for another year to see them! SciFi has said they will have
exclusive broadcast rights for seasons 1 & 2 to begin Jan '97. They will
probably show them 3/wk so we can all get our fix.

Hope this helps, a little. If you can't get what you want, put that
good desire energy into getting it another way & helping us all get
FK back! Good luck!

Saw something on my LONG drive in to work today I just *had* to share!

There were signs plastered EVERYWHERE with "Bennett for Congress '96"
on them all over every street in my county! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO
tempted to swipe one! I'm surprised so many of them are still around
with all the FK fans in my town....!

I guess this comes under a YKYBWTMFKW heading...

"You know you've been watching too much FK when you see signs saying
"Bennett for Congress '96" and wonder when Nigel had the time to enter
     politics!"

For the record - Nigel would have mY VOTE!! :)

Personally, I too would vote for just about anyone BUT an American...

working, since I have asked Pipeline to cancel my two subsidiary accounts,

if the Webgoddess abruptly starts bouncing mail, y'all will know why. You

I was skimming through my mail and opened a message to find this little gem:

It took me a couple of seconds to realize that this was a message from the
Keeshond dog owners' list and not from FK. Then, of course, I almost fell
out of my chair laughing. My coworkers think I'm weird (and they're
probably right). At least our Nick is still unaltered (to the best of our
knowledge).

Subject: California airfare

For those people going to CA for the Weekend with Ger, I found a great
priced Continental flight from Newark, NJ to LAX. You have to leave between
8:00 and 9:00 AM and return between 3:00 and 4:00 PM with a Sunday layover,
but it's only $300.00.

This is the cheapest fare from anyone! My travel agent knew nothing about
it until I brought it to her attention. So if you're looking for
inexpensive CA airfare, check continental and have then really give the
fares a once-over for you.

Let's hope we can find deals to San Francisco to match this in October.

First, welcome Serena. Second, I think it varies by the ndividual..that's

that's questionable sometimes. What do ya'll think?
